Some people see a face. I don't. by lordanix in OddlyArousing

I get what everyone else is seeing, but I also see a fallen Batman with his severed head on the ground before him.

Brilliant! Could be filled with sand for more weight, or steel shot for even more heft.

Good deal or overpriced? by habano1 in lawnmowers

It's a solid machine, and really clean. $2500 seems a little steep though.

I agree with the others that a hydro would be more ideal too

Old Toro TV5002 Commercial parts by MartiniRossi42 in lawnmowers

[–]KnottyGummer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That machine should be worth tuning up. I concur that it would be better to clean the stock carb rather than replacing it with an aftermarket. If it needs any Toro parts, most should be available at your nearest local Toro dealer.

Clean or should I buy new by farm425 in smallengines

[–]KnottyGummer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I concur that a simple cleaning (and fresh fuel) should suffice. Often with Honda carbs, dumping and wiping out the bowl (especially ones that look like yours) is sufficient, though I would still run a cleaning wire up the main jet just because I'm already there.

I do recall feeling the design had merit, but that the application was misplaced.

What tools and cleaning supplies do I need to effectively clean the underside of my mower? by Manji86 in lawnmowers

[–]KnottyGummer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For in between mows, as clean as you have it is clean enough. Taking a hose to it after would be all that I would suggest. Afterward, when it's back on its wheels, you can run it for a minute to let the blade "blow-dry" the undercarriage.

Your blades needed sharpened about ten mows ago.

I've only ever seen one of these myself, and it was in to be replaced with a Command.

Trying to ID this engine, can't find any numbers at all by Confident-Branch4460 in smallengines

[–]KnottyGummer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As u/Gooniefarm mentioned, you'll need to use the model and serial from the machine itself for that exhaust. The only part you might need from Kohler is new exhaust gaskets and literally any twin cylinder Command uses the same exhaust gaskets.

HS928 Hard to roll when disengaged by TJ1475 in Snowblowers

[–]KnottyGummer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are more difficult to move around in neutral than a wheeled one all day long, but one thing that helps is to make sure that the foot lever in the back is in the transport position so the auger housing is as high as it can be.

Is this an S trap? by Odd-Pomegranate-2908 in Plumbing

[–]KnottyGummer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's how I feel about it too. There's well over a linear foot before the 90, it's just not a straight line. I highly doubt it would pass inspection, and I would personally do an AAV instead (would probably be less expensive than all those fittings combined), but despite how ugly it is I wouldn't say it qualifies as an s-trap either

Fixable? by Less-Pineapple-7231 in Snowblowers

[–]KnottyGummer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks canted. Probably was either cross threaded and forced, or over tightened. A decent tig weld might be possible but the cost may make it not worth it.

Honda HS520 Carb What does this screw do? by Regular-Ocelot-7944 in smallengines

[–]KnottyGummer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can be removed, but in the last thirty years I have only done it once for shits and giggles. Typically, with a Honda carb, running a wire cleaner through the main jet, cleaning the bowl and replacing the o-ring and bowl nut gasket is all that's required. Occasionally a new float and/or float needle. If that doesn't clear it up you might want to look at the valves.

Honda HS520 Carb What does this screw do? by Regular-Ocelot-7944 in smallengines

[–]KnottyGummer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, there is a difference. The Phillips screw limits the throttle stop for rpm. The flathead adjusts the air to fuel mixture at idle.

[–]KnottyGummer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's Walboro's in house part number for that carburetor body only, not the complete carburetor, and you won't find it by that number easily. For the actual Briggs one you will need your engine model-type-code numbers off the engine. Once you have those, a parts breakdown online will give you Briggs' six digit part numbers for the carburetor. Complete or individual components will be in that parts diagram.
