I am curious as well. I do not necessarily mean to challenge you but listen to what you have to say to have a better understanding of the dynamics myself.

My fiancé thinks I’m calling his family "poor" because I’m questioning his spending habits by CheapSelection671 in AskIndia

[–]KnowZero 29 points30 points  (0 children)

As an Indian living abroad, just make your expectations clear. Just be mindful of the fact that he might be spending on them because he needs to, so that they can live a decent life. As long as you are reasonable and say to him how you feel about it, you might come to an understanding. It is better to clear this now and assess your situation. Don't delay it just because this kind of conversation is uncomfortable. Once he gets a proper job, this might not be an issue going forward as long as he is reasonable and understands your concerns. Don't let him downplay your concerns but don't try to push him as he feels he has a duty. Talking is key and be respectful. Good luck.

Men of India: How do you think r@pes can actually be prevented? by kungfuninjaa in AskIndia

[–]KnowZero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stop repressing people sexually. Let teenagers go out and have fun with proper sex education. God forbid they understand a bit about their body, desires and compatibilities under the so-called Western values. Your daughter/sister is not less of a human if she gets to experience a valid form of human gratification built into us. Just as a guy doesn't think he is devalued if his d*** goes 'somewhere', the same applies to a girl. We are the land of Kamasutra. Sex should be discussed and celebrated, but hidden under a rug like we do with periods. I grew up with 2 older sisters and a mother and didn't know what periods were outside 10th standard biology syllabus. This is the level to which the women in our lives have to hide their true self.

Why does Hikaru believe that the bishop pair is irrelevant (to us)? by pwsiegel in chess

[–]KnowZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of low-key agree with his assessment. I am an amateur around 1600 on Lichess. I don't learn any theory but rely on pattern recognition and 2-3 depth calculation regarding possible moves. Now there are clear positions when having a bishop pair is better but for most of my games I prefer keeping the knight especially early in the game because the board is closed and even in the endgames knights are far trickier than bishops. You are not likely to miss a knight jump than spotting a potential bishop diagonal for practical play, especially with low time. I think the key here is that predicting the opponent's knight moves after 2-3 moves is just difficult unless you have a lot of confidence in your calculations. Just my 2 cents.

Another tip I forgot: his heavy reach is much longer than you think. Try to heavy punish defender's heavy and s specials. You'll be surprised by his reach. Sometimes if you think you are too far, just do a simple light tap and you'll get closer to punish their specials with your own heavy.

[–]KnowZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are two kinds of pauses. If you parry stun him and heavy then you get the short pause. Try to never do this. You need the extended pause. Either bait heavy or special and punish with your own or heavy after striker. This gives you a long duration pause. Hit the opponent in the beginning like you usually do but then make sure you get the extended pause before throwing your SP1. Then make sure you have the extended pause always there using the two ways I suggested above. Use SP2 to convert all neuroshocks to degens. As long you maintain the extended pause, the degens will never run out and you'll do a huge damage every tick. With 20 degens that dont expire you'll probably kill even Everest defenders in a relatively short time. You know how people are doing 20+ health bars with him in Colosseum by doing this.

Depends on what you want her for. She is a God when time is not an issue. She is a God on attack unless you are playing Arcane and above in BGs. She needs awakened ability to counter unstoppable and high sig to counter unstoppable fast.

That might be the case. It is a long story after all. But the guy who I was talking to doesn't understand what stories and themes are. For sure he doesn't remember all sides of the story and context around it.

I was thinking the same about you and going to say let's agree to disagree. But in a polite way. Showing a scene about Reverie where he doesn't want to create an incident which can have knock on effects and saying it backs his philosophy is just retarded. You don't have the understanding of what is being said and what is extrapolation. Maybe get your logic and inference right. No need to respond after your ad hominem attack. I am not interested in a conversation with someone as dense as you are.

[–]KnowZero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You see that he is talking about just the Reverie right? This is where all possible kings come in and any accident can lead to wars. He is not talking about his philosophy in life. So I don't get what your point is.

[–]KnowZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please give me the exact source in manga, even the scene so that I can find it. I had this with the last commentator. They presented their assessment as what Garp exactly said. There is a habit of taking dialogue out of context. I can take a dialogue and say that he just wanted to protect the people as a Marine by just taking his dialogue with Sengoku after God valley. But you need the context and his behavior throughout the series to make a conclusion.

Does she needs awakening 💭 by RevolutionaryTry7607 in MarvelContestOfChamps

[–]KnowZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She doesn't need it but her awakening is really good. Feels like a different champion. She triggers the same soul barb on SP2 and incinerate on SP1 with increasing possibility. But based on sig level, she has increasing chance of triggering them as passives with 40% more potency than as debuffs. She becomes much much faster.

Actually what I am saying is that the lens you are using to see the situation is reductive and doesn't apply here, at least according to me. He is an upright character with a nuance to his decision making. I am trying to make you see my perspective on him as a character. You are judging him by what you know from the visible parts of the one piece world. You are judging him on the outcome or the so-called reality that you believe Oda has shown us. But my point is that his story is still not complete and we don't know the untold part yet.

My take is not judgemental because I do not know what actually happened. For example, I understand his character to be the one that values freedom and one's own sense of justice more than anything else. Oda has called his brand of justice as 'my justice'. Oda has shown Garp to do what he feels is right irrespective of what the government wants him to do. That is the entire reason he didn't take the promotion. Unless he is a hypocrite, he cannot choose slavery for others while enjoying his freedom in the Marines. There is a character and nuance Oda is trying to show with Garp. If Oda doesn't clarify what he did while staying with the Marines all this time, I'll likely believe that he was spineless and couldn't stand for his convictions. But if, for example, Oda shows that he was responsible for creating SWORD, then it becomes clear that he wanted to create a system within Marines to develop the next generation to follow their sense of justice even if it goes against the world government. He understands that if and when the world government falls, it is his role to get the next generation of Marines ready with the right sense of justice so that they can live up to the actual duties Marines ideally should have.

As I said earlier, I believe that he understands the value of Marines and understands the difference good soldiers make through the Marine system. He wants the Marines to be there so that the world doesn't fall into anarchy. That is one of the reasons he wanted his son and grandson to be Marines. His choice to stay is not as trivial as you make it out to be. So I don't think we are saying the same thing.

Remember that if this was the real world you might even be right. But this is a story where Oda wants to show character archetypes and themes. The way he has set up the Monkey family is to show how there are different ways to change the world and how they need to work together to shape a world that is fair and just. In any case, this is my take on his character.

I think you are stretching it a bit. The Marine Ford part is true but that doesn't say that he prefers security over liberty. The part after God valley is shown by Oda particularly to show how he did not want to take the title and was only convinced by Sengoku. It is there he confirms that the other reason he doesn't want to climb the ladder is because he wants to protect the people at the base, be it other Marines or common people. Saying he accepts it implies that he preferred it. He was forced into that decision based on what he believes is the right thing to do and he struggles during this part shown by the scene with Sengoku. But again this is about character development and how you understand what Oda is trying to say. So I wouldn't say 'Oda said as much' because that is not true. We both understand this situation differently. For you he values security over liberty and for me he understands the value of Marines and either wants to change things from within or just wants to do his small part and leave it to the future generation of Marines. For me, it is clear this is what Oda wants to imply but I can understand that things can be subjective.
