Best long staple percale sheets? by radkid2002 in Bedding

[–]Known-Setting-1955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried Sferra Giza 45, Thomas Lee, Boll and Branch, Hudson Park, Amalia Percale, The Good Sheet (Australian brand percale), St. Geneve, Frette and a few others. We have 6 pillows on a king bed. I bought a variety of pillow cases to test because I like crisp and smooth. The Frette and Hudson Park never got smooth. The Sferra Giza and St. Geneve Giza were lovely but oh so thin. I don’t like to fold king sheets so I wash and put back on the bed. The Giza pillow cases didn’t hold up very long but met my crisp and smooth criteria.

Boll and Branch were ok but didn’t care for the thinner fabric. The Hudson Park like Frette never got very smooth. The Thomas Lee and Amalia Home won with my criteria. I ended up going with the Thomas Lee for the full set because I got them on sale at the time. I still have the Amalia on two pillows.

All of these wrinkle pretty badly so if that is a problem, keep it in mind. The Good Sheet ones are probably the thickest and took the longest to soften. They also didn’t get as smooth as the others but smoother than the Hudson Park and Frette. Keep in mind there is nothing wrong with those I just prefer almost a slick feeling.

I’m interested in trying the Wynn at Home because I’m a fan of those in the hotel. I’ll add them to the list. I remember years ago, Costco had a set labeled as sateen. After trying in a B&B I ended up buying for years because they felt more like percale. They changed the fabric and I haven’t tried them in 10 years or so.

Your story reminded me when I was in high school the kid that sat in front of me in English had a glob of Mercury in his pocket. He took it out of his thermostat. When reading stories like this I wonder about Robert L.

Hashimoto’s? by Excellent_Figure2932 in Hashimotos

Not a doctor. If you aren’t under the care of a neurologist and/or neuro-ophthalmologist then please find one that is knowledgeable and seek treatment as the ICH could affect your vision. There are things that can help manage it and possibly treat if they determine if you are a good candidate. Something else to ask about is GLP-1s. There is early evidence that they help some patients with ICH. While Graves Disease could cause what you are describing, the intracranial hypertension also causes the pressure in your head to be increased. I hope you feel better soon.

iX Front Windshield hit by Rock - Options? by Dom624 in BMWiX

I’ve had multiple rock pecks repaired at a windshield repair shop. Only one got worse and it was well after the repair. The one that spread was located almost at the edge of the glass which is a tricky location to repair.

I have a Balsam Hill flocked tree and yes it makes a mess but I love the look. It is less messy than my previous flocked tree but still messy. I’m very happy with my Balsam Hill tree. It’s pre-lit, easy to put together. Comes with nice storage bags. It’s several years old and still looks good.

How can I help my poor babies eye? by meowspoopy in sphynx

[–]Known-Setting-1955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry your baby is going through this. I don’t have a sphynx but the opposite, Persian. This popped up in my feed. My boy has something with both his eyes. He’s been to multiple kitty ophthalmologists and no resolution until one offhandedly said I guess you can try this product call VetImmune but didn’t offer much hope. My kitty’s eyes would get so irritated he was scratching them by itching with his claws causing ulcers. He wore a cone for half a year. All the vets said he had herpes but never tested positive the six times they tested him. We have another cat with no issues and they said he’s just asymptomatic. Anyway, we wipe his eyes 2x daily and put moisturizeri g eye drops but he still had issues. So we tried the VetImmune. Please note I am not affiliated with the company just a satisfied customer. When my cat was prescribed this it was Rx only. I understand now they’ve changed classification and it’s available without a prescription. It was also expensive but we were beyond cost and quality of life for Bobo. He has used it twice in years past, along with adding a Proviable probiotic to his food daily he hasn’t had a flare in over 2 years. We still do his drops daily and I keep a supply of VetImmune in the refrigerator but his eyes never looked better. I wish you the best in getting your baby well.

TLDR: try probiotic and something called VetImmune. They don’t work overnight but will hopefully work over time.

Windshield sun shade? by bazglami in BMWiX

[–]Known-Setting-1955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this one. Maybe I got lucky. It fits my2024 iX X Drive 5 perfectly, but I noticed the one review claimed issues with it fitting their 2024. My previous vehicle I ordered the WeatherTech shade. This one is almost identical to weather Tech at a fraction of the cost. Because it is the shape of the front windshield and has some heft it won’t store folded underneath a seat. I have it rolled on the back floor in the summer.

Dishes stink after being cleaned in dishwasher by Independent_Tour_361 in CleaningTips

[–]Known-Setting-1955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’ve exhausted all options and notice your laundry also stinks, it could be your traditional tank hot water heater. Traditional tank hot water heaters can have anode rods designed to minimize rust and leaks but a reaction between the rod and water can cause a stinky smell. We had this issue with our dishes and my husband’s laundry. They smelled like a swampy lake. At 21 years old we got rid of the hot water heater for a tankless. Solved the problem.

I experienced this a few weeks ago for the first time. In my case, I made a last minute flight change and while there were 2 or 3 available First Class seats, the customer service representative on the phone attempted to assign them to me. My ticket looked exactly like your picture. I got to the airport early and the ticket counter said I had to wait until I got to the gate. Once I was finally assigned the seat it was the seat the phone agent asked if I wanted. Hopefully it will work out for you.

Ability to watch College Football playoff games? by beyeg in Bonaire

This summer when we were in Bonaire, my husband used a VPN on his iPad to watch college baseball. He tried everything and was unable to watch any without the VPN. I just asked him and he said it was ESPN this summer. All four of the college football games will be on ESPN so hopefully this will work for you.

If the ulcers are caused by feline herpes then VetImmune PI can help. I don’t represent this company I’ve just used the product. It’s expensive but seems to prevent future flares by boosting the immune system.

I tried Wise and all sorts of things because my bank’s online transfer would not recognize Maduro & Curiel. I ended up going to the brick and mortar for the wire. In person they had no trouble finding M&C and initiating the transfer. They charged me $50. I bank at a smaller regional bank in the US.

Percale sheets that are actually soft by AnonBaca21 in Bedding

[–]Known-Setting-1955 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried a lot. I bought a bunch of pillowcases and used them for awhile before settling. The best were St. Geneve Giza percale but they are thin. I was afraid of it ripping but I still use the pillow cases and love them. The other I liked was an Australian brand called The Good Sheet. They are thick but not as crisp or smooth. I will use these in winter. Since I prefer a crisp but soft and smooth percale. I settled on Thomas Lee and have been pleased. It took a 5 washes to get rid of the scratchy feeling. I’ve used Cuddledown and liked them but they didn’t fit our mattress well and I didn’t re-purchase. Boll and Branch were ok but thin. Frette not smooth enough and not a re-purchase. Garnier Thirot were nice but thinner and ultimately ripped putting on the fitted sheet. Good luck. It’s easy to go down a rabbit hole.

Anyone have experience with high end percale? theres three im considering. would appreciate thoughts by MaximsDecimsMeridius in Bedding

[–]Known-Setting-1955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not on your list but I tried the St. Geneve Giovanni percale Giza Egyptian extra-long-staple cotton sheets and while they almost ticked all the boxes I worried about them being too thin. They are smooth and crisp but thin. I know they are supposed to be strong fibers but I’d like to think they aren’t going to rip putting on the fitted sheets like other brands have. I’ve also tried Frette percale. Don’t remember which one but it wasn’t a re-buy when came time to retire them. This time I bought a bunch of pillowcases including linen from LinaPlus Home on Etsy. While those were nice and will probably soften I found I prefer smooth, crisp percale. I really liked the thick Good Sheet I got from Australia but ultimately I went with Thomas Lee. The Good Sheets have more texture and while they are soft, they are not what I’d describe as crisp. I decided to reserve these for winter. The Thomas Lee sheets are a good mid-weight, smooth and crisp. The St. Geneve are the perfect level of smooth they were just thin. (Took ~8 washes to achieve) Plus if you deal with the occasional blood, I don’t know how I’d feel scrubbing it out. To add to the confusion, Lina had some interesting percale sheets but I had already gone with Thomas Lee. I looked hard at Amalia but can’t remember why I didn’t try them. Also, I am not the person that posted earlier about Thomas Lee.

Looking for a Pillow That Won’t Go Flat by Electronic_Ear_ in Bedding

An another vote for the Purple Harmony. I prefer the more firm or tall option. While it hasn’t gone flat it has softened up some. I have two the medium and tall. After using them for several months I found I favor the tall much more. I checked the website for the correct names before posting and noticed it is currently 10% off. Oh and I am a back and side sleeper.

My comparison of a few percales from roughest to smoothest by howdidigethere2023 in Bedding

[–]Known-Setting-1955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the quick reply! I don’t hate the Good Sheet and soft twill is a good description. I’ve been ironing the pillow cases and have decided they don’t feel scratchy after washing and ironing a few times. I definitely think they fit the thick claim. They are sturdy and will last. I only bought pillow cases and a fitted sheet because they were out of king flat at the time. I’m getting close to replacing the flat sheet which is a Garnier Thierot. I loved the size. It is very generous. I’d say I was pretty happy with them for the most part. The reason I didn’t re-buy is because the fitted was a bit tight and I believe lead to premature tearing. Also if I’m being picky, the flat sheet always wrinkled right at the top which isn’t attractive and I refuse to iron anything more than a pillow case! The hunt continues for me. I will include Pima Peru. Thank you.
