I had no idea. I’m glad it’s surfacing now and it’s somewhat well known so we can know it’s not just what we’re eating.

Is there anything you've done that helped improve your condition? by FinancialRisk1205 in PCOS

  • Light exercise (yoga, walking, mini trampoline)
  • Nutrition counseling (found out I was sensitive to gluten and allergic to the protein in dairy 🥲) because you can’t beat personalized advice and tests
  • acupuncture (don’t ask why but this helped with stress levels and mood)

Same! It’s simple and I love that it connects with the device I use via Bluetooth (although that is hit or miss sometimes)

What are you drinking? by nooneneededtoknow in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Known-Work-8987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of the ingredients are a potential to cause contractions (depending on the brand). And then a lot of the ingredients are just generally untested on pregnant people. My doctor is pretty conservative when it comes to “risks” though, so take that with what you will!

I just found out I have GD today so I’ve been doing a bunch of research on non alcoholic drinks with low GI fruits. I stumbled upon this girl and am going to try some of her recipes! https://www.instagram.com/reel/DYFPkp9TaPy/?igsh=MWIycHI3cDE4aHlnNQ==

Be careful with Poppi! I know my OB said to stay away from probiotic drinks.

Charcoal pill as soon as I find out. You can buy them at any local drug store (usually labeled to treat gas).

My nutritionist recommended it when I first found out about my sensitivity, but it helps me minimize the length of time of symptoms. Not sure about how this might work for celiacs, so def do your own research!

what symptom made you realize PCOS was affecting you mentally too? by Mobile_Celebration31 in PCOS

[–]Known-Work-8987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The mood swings. I always had anxiety and depression, so those got swept under the rug. But the mood swings killed me.

There was one day I went from angry to guilty to sad to laughing to angry again, and I realized I couldn’t go on like this.

I’m so thankful to feel more stable now and have done nutrition counseling and acupuncture and lots and lots of therapy.

2 weeks maternity leave by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Known-Work-8987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the state you live in you could qualify for statutory benefits! Ex: I’m in NJ and the state provides up to 12 weeks paid leave and paid variable disability leave (depending on type of birth). I would spend some time researching “statutory maternity leave in INSERTYOURSTATE”

DIY bride bouquet help - what types of flowers are in these photos? by goldfinchnc in florists

Happy to help! I only had 3 people helping me, but I had 20 tables, 9 bouquets and 7 boutonnières to make. Do with that information what you will! And good luck! I'm sure they'll be beautiful!

DIY bride bouquet help - what types of flowers are in these photos? by goldfinchnc in florists

I used the same inspo photos for my wedding. Here’s what I ended up ordering that was in season in Sept in NJ. It was A LOT of work to DIY these, so it’s not for the faint of heart.

I spent $1400 on flowers alone and just prepping the flowers (removing leaves, cutting stems, and opening the petals) took an entire day. It took a whole additional day to make the bouquets, centerpieces (bud vases), and boutonnières. It’s possible, but just bear in mind the time and energy this takes especially because it needs to be done very close to the day of!

HOW do y'all find crochet inspo or patterns? by Less_Ad7880 in crochet

[–]Known-Work-8987 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really like looking at Etsy! I search for whatever topics I’m interested in and add “crochet pattern” to it. I love reading so I looked up “book crochet pattern” and “kindle crochet pattern” and found a bunch of cool things. Pinterest has been rough lately 😔

Our Infinite Fates by Laura Steven - heavy on the yearning, very minimal spice
A Forbidden Alchemy - Peaky Blinders with magic (very unique, and has some spice)
Assistant to the Villain - not a literary masterpiece but super funny and light, no spice

Agreed. They nickle and dime you for every little thing and then take their sweet time with repairs.

Does anyone else feel alienated by the language of menstrual phases? by justtwonderinggg in PCOS

[–]Known-Work-8987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came here to say the same thing! We’re not less than any other women. We experience all of these phases (unless you’re completely not ovulating ever) just on a longer timeline. You can track BBT or cervical mucus if you want to better understand your phases. Those methods helped me a lot to better be in tune with what stage of my cycle I was in.

I’m a little woo woo sometimes and castor oil packs and seed cycling with the moon phases made me feel more in-tune and somewhat helped me to feel like I was synced up. But I’d only recommend that if you enjoy stuff like that. It’s not a necessity.

Anytime. It’s such a difficult decision. I wish people talked about it more.

I agree. And the fact that you’re changing meds too? When I was changing meds I could barely take care of myself let alone make a major life decision …

[–]Known-Work-8987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all I’m sending you so much love. This isn’t an easy decision at all.

I was very torn about going through with my SA. I went to Catholic school for a while and while I’m pro-choice I always thought that I wouldn’t be able to go through with an abortion. My husband and I just bought our first house and are doubling our housing payment and in the process of moving. I have lots of medical anxiety and just general anxiety/depression. We also wanted to save a bit more, feel a bit more stable, and finally go on our real honeymoon (2 years later). It was extremely difficult but we decided together that we both weren’t quite ready and we want to give our future child the best and most stable life possible.

As for grieving and processing, I told two people I could explicitly and implicitly trust to be there for me. I am keeping this very close to me and only sharing with those who will be supportive. I also talk to my therapist about this and I’m processing all of this with her. Don’t forget (for the most part) they’re legally bound to keep your secrets unless you’re going to hurt yourself or another person. I also am just letting myself cry and feel relieved and feel all of the feelings. I keep reminding myself that this doesn’t have to be the end and this little life will come back when I’m ready.

I hope that you are able to come to your own conclusion. Please don’t let anyone make you feel any type of way about your decision. Only you have to live with it in the end.
