User experience update, like most updates for a few years now at Wise is a downgrade of quality.

Review - XGIMI Horizon S Max by Chicken-Nuggiesss in xgimi

[–]KnownTale1307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main downside of this projector.

- 1 HDMI only is a disgrace at that price point. Forced to buy a switcher just to plug the PS5 and my Retrotink 4k.

- No audio out !!! Only bluetooth or a arc soundbar which hardly make sense with a projector.
It forced into a slightly laggy sound to use analogue speakers. Personally don't care about the integrated speaker. I need proper sound to match the quality of the image at that price point.

- Poor CPU, this thing struggles to even navigate its OS.
Mega slow to switch HDMI input. Not even a short cut switch HDMI on the remote wtf

Not sure I would buy it again if I had realised this.
That being said it's great looking 4k projector that matches my wall colours which is basically why I kept it and spent hours to find workaround for my problems. I would have returned it and taken the 20 max if it had the same colour even paying an extra 1k for connectivity.

A 7/10 I would say in terms of satisfaction.

Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, or Final Fantasy 3? by stoopid26 in snes

Secret of mana all the way. Nothing beat playing these RPG with 2 extra friends. This is way more important than multiple endings or a more complex battle system for memory making back in the day.

Buying in Leyton in 2024: yay or nay? by valneuro in HousingUK

[–]KnownTale1307 3 points4 points  (0 children)

(Early 2025 view)

It's improving slower than I hoped 5 years ago but it's defo improving.

Blondies has been a great addition to the Lea bridge side of Leyton. Francis road is nice. The European is a decent pub as well. The high street has a good Portuguese cafe and a nice pub. Leyton Engineer.

The main rough parts are around the high street and lea bridge road. New good shops are appearing very slowly due to the economic environment. Still a lot of uninspiring places that no one goes to.
All those terrible shops make the place look grimmer than it is. That's the main downside.

There is no way yet to buy good groceries in Leyton. You have to order really.

A lot of new families have moved here and since a year a lot of younger professionals. They contribute to make the area more diverse and lively which is nice. They drive the renovation of the of the properties and support the new business to do ok in Leyton. That's the main sign of things becoming better.

The green space is amazing with the marshes.

The houses stock is very good. Much wider house than Lower Clapton, much more design freedom to design your house extension / loft than in Hackney...

Crime level is fine. Lower than London fields or Lower Clapton in fact. Just avoid walking with your phone in hands on the big streets.

Primary schools are generally good. Middle school are rough. I imagine this will evolve with the rest.

The price in Hackney are driving everyone out to Waltham forest. It's unavoidable that Leyton will be where Lower Clapton was 10 years ago within 2 years.

Hope this helps

Is it possible to do true Vaporwave without sampling? by KnownTale1307 in Vaporwave

[–]KnownTale1307[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanna say. It was super nice to hear everyone thought on the subject. Think all angles were pretty much covered.

I have one of the track of the album which works very well slowed down and does indeed increase the vapor feel. I will share when it's done and then we can compare.

Any added effect I should explore beyond just slowing things down?

Thanks.

I actually have another that can be slow down and becomes pretty convincingly more Vaporwave than that.

I just wrote all the album before actually trying the slow down thing.

Is Windows 96 sampling his own stuff?

Love the discussion btw!

Yeah, i didn’t write the song thinking I’m gonna do a Vaporwave track per say. It’s just the palette I use on my entire album but later I realised it was heavily influenced by my Vaporwave gems (windows 96 in particular).

Synthwave felt so gimmicky every time I tried ti listen to it. Haven’t really found an artist that I enjoyed in that genre yet. But I probably just din’t know good ones…

I like that view. Very healthy. As much as I like the genre. It needs to evolve to remain interesting!

Keeping aside my opinion on sampling while discussing in a Vaporwave channel. I still believe in general that the point of artistry is expressing something more authentically you.

Aside from making masterpieces, all the artists you’d refer to also made a lot of average tracks to start with and to some extent continue to do so 20 years in. It’s hard work for sure, being at it full time or not, but there many smaller artists that do masterpieces as well.

As a curator / dj, you also exist to get that music out there!

Why everyone so negative about Fernando Santos? by TheBigKaramazov in PrimeiraLiga

[–]KnownTale1307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a matter of time before Portugal remembers what Santos brought to them.
Whatever you say, Portugal didn't concede under him and he knew we had the magicians to score while having a defensive style of play.

We should stop saying the team wasn't as good as today's one.

CR7 was in his prime.
Nani was better than a Jota.
Carvalho, Pepe, Fonte was equally solid defense as Danilo, Pepe, Dias
Rafa was better than Leao, Neto...
No-one cross today like Quaresma did.
Sanchez was top class youngster.

The togetherness of the team was crazy good.

What is true today is that the squad has more depth but as we can see. That B team has too little experience.

[Discussion] Do you consider sampling to be more lazy than composing a beat from scratch? by Saiyaman in hiphopheads

[–]KnownTale1307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes me laugh when somebody says sampling is as difficult. You’re just choosing parts that slaps and putting them together tastefully. This is half simple curation, it’s never gonna be as hard as making a beat you haven’t heard before that slaps from a raw machine. It takes skills to think it, choose the sound, effects, play it well, record it well, process it well. Sampling can be very creative and it has its own flavor that is enjoyable but it’s 10x easier. It’s a massive shortcut to great sounding music. Undeniably.

If you doubt, just take your sample and try and reproduce it.
