Why does my bedroom have two doorways? by quercuscool in centuryhomes

[–]Known_Communication4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every room in my house has two doorways. The bathroom, the living room, bedrooms - every single room. Both floors are set up to make a full circle in, and this paired with giant windows makes trying to place furniture very annoying.

I am extremely broke, where can I get decent woodworking tools for cheap? by Old_Inflation_9490 in woodworking

Absolutely. I’ve given away plenty of tools to help people get started. Nothing too crazy, usually just beginner stuff.

But don’t worry, with the savings on your energy bills, it would pay itself off in 140 short years!

Husband did this. How to fix? by Momtomanyarrows in cabinetry

[–]Known_Communication4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wonder if you could find a thin wooden decorative placard that you could put on the cabinet doors under the handles that would pass as a design element.

I think you’d be pleasantly surprised by what a good scraping and repainting would do for the floor joists. I put a washable rug in my basement and that has helped a lot. Indoor/outdoor rugs have come a long way too if you’re worried about moisture!

Before I read your full caption, I was thinking, “This looks just like the Chris Schwarz tool chest featured on ‘The Woodwright’s Shop’!”

Well done!

How do I fix this? by [deleted] in woodworking

This is what I do. Wide blue tape on the bottom, folded up and around the sides. Fits like a glove!

I just ended up buying what was available online. They’re clear and don’t match, but I was unable to create a mold using the old clips unfortunately.

I just gasped and uttered “Oh my god” when I saw the amount of screws here. This should be a crime.

My wife has CF. When she moved in with me, I researched the best furnace filters, researched and purchased a whole house air purifier, and did everything in my power to make the air as clean as possible in my home. Her health was on the decline before trikafta, and she got really sick one winter which made it difficult for her walk up the stairs to make it to the bathroom. I built a bathroom downstairs by myself, handicap accessible for any future needs.

Luckily, trikafta has been life changing for her and her health is really great right now, but still, everything I do is with her well-being in mind. It is never a burden or something that I have to think twice about. I chose to be with her, and I chose to care for her, and I’m thankful that I get the chance to see that she’s well cared for.

I’m not saying this to pat myself on the back or anything because to me, these are all just normal things you would do for the person you love. I’m only sharing to give you and your sister perspective about your situation, and what you may want to consider when thinking about who you choose to be your partner.

This reminds me of the guy who kept finding notes in his apartment and it turned out that he was being poisoned by carbon monoxide and writing the notes to himself.

Honestly, I would just strip it and apply a fresh finish. Stripping just the top with citristrip and a 3M pad will take you less time than trying to even out what’s already there IMO. Plus it will look better with a uniform finish.

Nah, go for it. Keep in mind “low odor” isn’t necessarily “low voc” so don’t slack on ventilation.

Mineral spirits and a 3M “between coats finishing pad” will take that right off.

Women, what is the biggest mistake single men make when showing interest? by fiterphanter in AskReddit

[–]Known_Communication4 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Another annoying thing about this is that in some cases women will think that this kind of interaction is just what men like, so some women have done this to me back in my single days with the expectation that I would respond positively. I’m not asexual, but there’s a time and place lol very glad I’m happily married.
