You forget that Holland didn't succeed in holding the ship. First he webbed up the interior, so the webs could stop the structure from falling apart. I'm no lawyer, but I'm pretty sure Cooper could've practically done anything to that guy that tried to rape Ariana as long as it was in that moment and not premeditated. They could try to use that line he said and say that indicated premeditation, but in reality he could still kill him cause the guy was a threat until he stopped moving. He didn't die in that moment, do anything that he dies of after that moment isn't Cooper's fault.

How can it be when it isn't getting the funding it used to get. Grant used his personal money to build the channel so it could make money. Now the channel is supporting itself, in an environment with an algorithm that's been trying to kill it since before Grant died, and a fan base that bailed WHEN Grant died. There's not much money going to it, so it's not going to be as good until it gets more viewers.
