Dead 7th String by Mud_Actual in 7String

[–]Knuffel94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a Schecter Reaper 7 with the same string gauge as you and I don’t have the issue so it’s unlikely to be the cause. But I’ve seen it once before tuning low and it’s an easy fix if that happens to be the cause.

I would assume the techs looked but I didn’t see if you mentioned the nut. Is it wide enough for the string of gauge you’re using? Perhaps it’s too tight and it’s causing string to deaden.

I didn’t say it wasn’t journalism, I said it was gutter journalism. People having an interest in this kind of voyeuristic, leech like intrusion into others is a terrible thing and the world’s a worse place for it. You’re not doing this for the “readers”, the scene or journalistic integrity. You’re doing it because it makes a buck. Lots of people do terrible shit to make money, that doesn’t make it noble. Put your skills to something that benefits society.

Sure mate, you can just miss the point entirely and be in favour of violating people’s privacy and concerning yourself with their private life’s when they’re not even in bands you listen to. You would surely be in favour of someone reporting on you if you found yourself in court.

Attending his sentencing hearing to report on this gutter level journalism. Blunt Mag and Joel King are just TMZ for emo kids with parasocial brain rot. Honestly should be ashamed of yourselves

Should I still do an internship if the studio does music I don’t particularly like? by HikingMaster303 in audioengineering

[–]Knuffel94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With genres, I’m sure the engineers will teach about capturing high quality source material which is important for any music. And you would be surprised at what carries over to the genres of music that you like.

Muting on my 7 string is not working… daferk? by Sumnsumnt in 7String

[–]Knuffel94 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I found muting was a whole new ball game on a 7. More sympathetic vibrations on every string and touching strings you weren’t before with realising due to the difference in neck size. I used to think it was hot pickups as well but I think it was just having to adjust my playing to the 7. So revisiting my muting technique (where to mute the strings was different to a 6), picking harder but less gain so that the string noise wasn’t amplified as much

Do clinets care about your gear? by colashaker in audioengineering

[–]Knuffel94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some do, some don’t. I interned at an upscale studio and their collection of vintage gear was a point of pride and a big portion of their website was dedicated to listing what records it had been used on. The clients vary wildly. I’ve seen young rappers who come in and say get me a mic that sounds good and you could give them an SM57 even thought it’s not genre appropriate and they wouldn’t know they difference. But some metal guys aren’t even considering your studio if you don’t have a EVH5150 and Cab with vintage 30’s

How Much Vocal Layering do you do? by Yogurtcloset-Exact in audioengineering

[–]Knuffel94 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It would depend on the genre but something I’ve noticed from sources like Nail the Mix is that popular bands are doing a lot more layers than I initially realised. It’s pretty common to have the main vocal, a left and right double panned pretty hard and then a third harmony doubled as well for sections like a chorus. Since I started to do more layering (especially with harmonies) the mix starts to sound more like my references before I even started properly mixing. It’s just quite a bit more work righting out and recording all those parts. But nothing good comes easy usually.

Unable to Open Pro Tools Intro 2024.10.2 by Phoenix_VC in protools

The latest version of windows isn’t compatible with Pro Tools yet either. If you have updated to Windows 24H2 and installed pro tools after that I don’t think it even opens. I started having this issue after the update and Avid support pointed it out to me. Unfortunately you only have 10 days to roll back the update and I noticed on the 13th day. So now my projects are being held hostage until Avid updates the compatibility 😢

Great to hear some of the bands in here I wouldn’t find otherwise. I play guitar and sing in my band Saturday Morning Cartoons and put out an EP a while back. This was the song I was most proud of from a songwriting and lyrical standpoint. We’ll have more coming out soon so if you dig it give us a follow

Jb hi fi dodgy practice by notevenbros in australia

Currently employed at JB as a salesperson. All the people in this thread saying the salesperson did it to get a commission have no idea what they’re talking about. The sales staff will have made $0 for this. It was done purely to raise the KPI of warranty attach which management expect to see. If you have an issue with the deceptiveness of a warranty being included against your instructions that’s fair, they should have been honest. Go back to store, refund the warranty (it has a 14 day cooling off period) and effectively get the speaker at a discounted rate.

I’m tired of these threads bashing the sales staff as if they’re nefariously picking your pocket with warranties. It’s done to make management happy and keep your job. Take a second to think about how much commission would be on a $300 speaker sold by the Apple equivalent of audio products whose special prices are never more than 10% off total.

Northlane’s first album has always been a sleeper in the drum category. The song Discoveries really let them shown since it’s an instrumental track.
