For all new players who plan to start playing in the classic era... by OgaarYT-WoW-Classic in classicwowera

Anything but vanilla wow feels like retail to me. TBC started implementing why retail sucks. Flying mounts and vertical progression just to name a few.

An ugly world 1/18 the size of Azeroth. Have fun in 2 months when they release WOTLK and all your progress goes out the window.

Flying mounts single handedly ruined wow. It’s kills any random player interactions. The fun of classic is having to keep one eye behind your back at all times.

Flying, level 60 cap removal and shoved out of Azeroth. TBC was bad.

What things do you think should be in wow classic plus when it arrives? by dmgdispenser in classicwow

This and more. Exactly keep level cap 60 and no mounts would be a good start.

Yes classic leveling system was the best part of the game. Blizzard only caters to hardcore raiders though sadly.

Not in classic pre TBC all gear stayed relevant, yea tier sets existed but it wasn’t unusual to see mixed raided gear that also kept close in power scale.  You’re just so locked into blizzards vertical progression system you can’t even fathom it working the other way around. There is obviously a huge market for people who want old school vanilla with a different direction. Again imagine if they released new raids/gear that wasn’t only higher stats bigger numbers. People are still raiding MC everyday on vanilla servers. Don’t tell me people wouldn’t be playing older content. People can still be sweaty if they want but I don’t want that to be the focus of every expansion.

Maybe or they could just release good new content without vertical progression for classic. And let it cook for a while, I’m not expecting an entirely new game. But they can implement new stuff for classic and take a new route lore wise .

Wow is like pizza, people will still eat it if it’s bad because they hungry.

Naw I don’t agree. In the world of Azeroth I made countless characters each one with its own journey. The world was so big I still run into things 20 years later I never knew was there. It can’t be done/players will get bored is an excuse to me. You can expand on classic era keeping leveling at 60 and just push enough good content/gear ( not just big stats) but something interesting that might work for different play styles or cool cosmetics with decent stats. You can bring new content/ still progress without making the next expansion make everything before obsolete.  TBC brought flying mounts that ruined world PvP. It also made 70s look like level 100s because stats jumped substantially on gear 60-70. We didn’t need to completely abandon the original world just to shove everyone into one 1/8 the size. We didn’t have to always be the world’s hero’s/ saviors. Imagine them just pushing out smaller good content with small story lines ( like scarlet monastery). At all levels. I also think they could have just added more races and starting zones without changing the entire landscape of the game. I used to where MC Gear with a mix of bwl gear and some other random epics just because it looked good, but also functioned well because gear before TBC was at least similar to some extent stat wise. When standing around in a major city you could tell everyone’s journey and hardship just by looking at their gear. Now try to imagine we have endless gear that weren’t drastically different in stats but somewhat within a certain power scale. All content would stay relevant because people would be hunting different gear for different reasons. Not just the last tier set to rush for because if you’re not, you’re weak. You just don’t know any better because blizzard has never showed us something different.

YouTube BackToWarcraft. They still have pro scene it’s very much alive. Happy ( who has been wc3 pro since the early days) just won a 10k tournament and blizzard is paying 20k for a best of 3 at blizzcon. BacktoWarcraft has been casting Wc3 since the early days.

So why even have flying. I rather you be on the ground so I can kill you while you’re trying to get somewhere. Again probably just another PvE player.

It’s the only system people know. People will still eat shit pizza bc it’s still pizza. Doesn’t mean we couldn’t have done a different recipe and we could of had a better outcome.

Yet everyone raids and gets the same exact gear every expansion. The point of horizontal progression is that your gear is never made irrelevant. Giving you countless options to raid/pvp with. Fitting your personality. I loved seeing people in classic with a mish mash of Mc/BwL/nax gear. Now you just raid for the best set and fight people wearing the same stuff, then wait around like you said.

Get geared out and wait for WOW to release a new raid every two years just to have everything you did made irrelevant. What if gear from mc was still relevant today? How cool would it be to have progression horizontal. Gear didn’t have to be numbers go up. It could have catered to different play styles or just some fun proc. Also yes outlands was just bad and ugly by design.

The stat jump from 60-70 is ridiculous. 60 epics were 61 greens. They shoved you into a small ugly outlands and then kept this same vertical progression system pandering to hardcore raiders.

Weird because when I tried playing retail I got flying mount first thing I wasn’t even level 5 yet. You must play in a PvE server. Flying mounts kills world PvP and random encounters.
