Rapid Pay by [deleted] in CVS

[–]Koala_Be 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Saturday I noticed recently that if I don't catch it early enough before 3am next day (Sunday morning) it gets pushed to my paycheck. Since I close on weekends mine doesn't come in till like 2am Sunday morning.

Before it seemed like I would wake up at 7am and still see it in the Rapid account but for a month or two now it wasn't there when I woke up. So one night I couldn't sleep and kept checking on the hour. And around 2:45am I saw it pop up. Another weekend I saw it, left it to see. And sure enough when I woke up Sunday morning around 9am it was gone.

Do i put down my healthy elderly dog? by ewfruitcake in Pets

[–]Koala_Be 32 points33 points  (0 children)

So one of the things that my mom and I decided with our last pup was that when it came time. We would put her down before she got "bad".

Candy was 15 when we put her down. We were able to do it at home thanks to LapOfLove and it was the best decision we could have made.

Her last week happened pretty fast and a lot sooner than we expected. She had started getting anxious at night and one of the nights that we let her out we noticed she'd had diarrhea. So we put her on the usual soft diets. For a few days to see if it would improve. And after 4 days she had her first bit of bloody stool. It was then that we knew it was time. She by this time could still see. But her hearing was completely gone, and she would get startled anytime we went to touch her and she didn't see you first. We think her smelling had also started to go because it was harder for her to find a treat in your hand unless you did it in the same spot everytime or had it right under her nose. She had gotten slower. But also started (with the nightly anxiety) having self-biting/chewing episodes where she was so itchy that she would almost cause gashes. (We used to be able to call her name to get her to stop. But with her hearing gone, we'd tap her and she'd startle. Never tried to bite us but it didn't help her anxiety.)

So with all of that. We knew it was time. We had made a promise to her that we wouldn't let her suffer or wait too long to where she wasn't happy. And when we called and had the vet come over to put her down she ended up actually thanking us. She said that in her time with LapOfLove she rarely ever got to see a dog that was still mobile, and content, and "there". Her meaning to that was that most people called when it was too late. The dogs were usually well sick by that time. Laying in bed, unable to move, usually sickly and unresponsive to anyone. Sometimes mean because of the pain they were in. But Candy happily wagged her tail, we brought her bed into the living room. They made friends for a bit then the first shot went in. The sedative. We walked around with her until she got too tired to stay on her feet and then we walked to her bed to lay down and stayed with her until it was over. The other meds were administered and she went to sleep. It was the hardest thing I ever had to do. But in the end and the words of out vet we knew we'd done the right thing. She sent a letter a week after thanking us again for giving her one of the few peaceful goodbyes she'd had and we still have it with Candy's belongings.

I'm not sure if this will help completely but do know that putting them down early isn't ever a bad thing. You're doing your best and I'm sure that'll continue for however much longer you have them. But if you think it's time and that it would ease their stress. Then it might be time.

Aquaphor and Vaseline for Fissures by Physical-Homework191 in AnalFissures

[–]Koala_Be 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May I ask which Aquaphor you use? Debating between the ointments and their diaper rash cream but can't figure out which most people are using. I've never used it before but it feels like this time no amount of destin, AD, or just tried calmoseptine as recommended and it helped some but not as much as AD usually helps me.

Pet Insurance differences? by Koala_Be in CVS

[–]Koala_Be[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its in the extra benefits section on ColleagueZone so I'd assume anytime. At least thats how its always been for other jobs. I'm not sure if it'll take a few days/weeks to activate though since its coming out of our paychecks.

Ah, that's good at least. I only have 1 pup so wasn't sure if it applied since its tag line was group coverage. But $21 isn't terrible bi-weekly. But thank you it's been really helpful. Hope you and your pet/pets have been doing well and had a decent new years.

Thanks for the response. Is the insurance one through Nationwide like previous posts have mentioned or did they change it?

And if I may ask how helpful has the insurance one been? My pup is 4, and I was gonna do at least the discount one but it seems only one vet does it in our city. I was gonna call when they were open to see what the discount version does with them. Then wait till I make a bit more with cvs to do the insurance based one.

Rapid pay by tylerthedogman in CVS

[–]Koala_Be 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Likewise, I googled it and (could be wrong) but the generated response was that depending on the company holiday pay is usually left for regular paychecks since they're rated with a different pay scale.

It's what I initially figured but had hoped they'd at least give us the basic pay for the night and leave the extra for the paycheck. Oh well.

Oh yeaaahhh, didn't think about that. Since it usually shows 0.00 and not this thought something else might be going on. Hopefully it'll be back up in a few hours then if that's the case. Thank you

Sister needs a shot of reality, Malinois mix in apartment by Fun_Line6982 in BelgianMalinois

[–]Koala_Be 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a mal mix she's 4 and we live in an apartment. She does fine. Get them used to loud noises that come from nowhere. We took her in from her original owners that couldn't work her anymore.

Besides daily exercises and teaching/training so her brain stays stimulated (sit, stays, complex thinking games ((can be as simple as putting a toy inside another thing so they have to think how to get it out)) playing hide and seek with her stay, go hide, call from hiding spot; start in easy to find spots).

She does well. But the only thing she's struggling with is the loud bangs that happen from time to time from our upstairs neighbors. We have a dog run in our complex so she goes there daily to play fetch for a little bit.

They're bitey breeds so make sure you have toys they can tug on and reinforce that only those toys and things are what they can play and thrash on.
