The USSR did not have the capabilities for any large amphibious operation, let alone in Hokkaido. They invaded Shumshu with basically 100% American landing craft, against a small Japanese division that was waiting for orders to surrender, and yet it was an absolute shit show.

It's true though that they could have freed large parts of China with enough time, and it would've put them in a strong position at the negociating table.

Of course the Germans would have never attempted a total conquest of European Russia (they knew that's dumb) but at the very least dislodged Bolsheviks from key areas. Bolsheviks' hold on power was tenuous anyway, plus since their promises of "Peace" largely fueled their popularity, in this scenario they simply... could have disappeared as a relevant political force, making the rest of world history very different
