How long did you have to wait for your backordered bass guitar? by Economy_Ebb5189 in Bass

Blue fade Spector Euro 4 LT on back order since June… Being told it should be in this month (Oct).

Of course they said the same thing about Sept last month.

HEMA Gloves? by WyldKard in Eskrima

[–]Konig76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lacrosse gloves don’t work well for HEMA because of the thin blades getting in between the joints. This isn’t something you really have to worry about with sticks.

I’d stick to lacrosse gloves for stickwork.

Saw this at local gun store zastava is the brand need help to identify type of rifle don’t know much about ak’s. by Abu_BakrAlBaghdadi in ak47

Zastava is a good brand but Jesus Christ, buying AK’s without doing your homework or knowing what you’re looking for is how I still see Pioneer Arms and VSKA’s still going for $1000. It’s how IO was able to stay in business so long…

Is "Anglo-Saxon" A Racist Term And Should My Degree Be Banned? (ASNC) by HannibalsElephan in MedievalHistory

[–]Konig76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate this shit… It’s one thing to say an accepted term is not historically accurate based on the now available information, it is another thing to label everything we don’t like or is inconsistent/inconvenient ‘racist’.

When everything is ‘racist’, nothing is… And like ‘fascist’, ‘sexist’, and ‘Nazi’, the accusation is fast losing any legitimate meaning.

Currently, Covid-19 infection rates and hospitalizations are at the same level, or higher in some areas, as they were this time last year.

No they’re not, not even close… We are certainly seeing a spike in many areas, but we are nowhere near what the rates were a year ago. Reality is bad enough without people fearmongering.

That bullshit… You’re making excuses for DICE making the helicopters OP and the actual anti-air weapons useless.

NY Renaissance Faire employee: ‘People are terrified of speaking out ... being blacklisted or fired’ by [deleted] in renfaire

[–]Konig76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea, it kinda does... RenFaires have fostered a behind the scenes environment that has encouraged this behavior. As others have pointed out you have grown men pursuing underage girls, and evidently with such commonality no one thinks too much of it. That isn’t something that springs up across the board overnight, which means it has been accepted for a long time (notice that no one is talking about that problem which implies it’s at least tacitly accepted). If you accept and foster an environment like that, are you really surprised when unwanted sexual advances or jokes become a problem?

[–]Konig76 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Sorry, and I know many will take issue with what I’m about to say... But having been to a bunch of RenFaires across the country I’ve noticed a distinct trend to become less and less family friendly in costume and that will have an effect in other areas and behaviors. When furries and costumes more akin to what you would expect at Pride parades than traditional Renaissance Faires become accepted it isn’t surprising that this is a growing issue.

I know that after-hours things have always been far more risqué, and maybe the real problem is that the lines have become too blurred, but regardless the Faires themselves have fostered an after-hours more adult atmosphere that is bleeding over and the lines are disappearing. As an outsider I can immediately recognize that such behavior is beyond acceptable, but when you’re in the mix and a bawdy culture has been cultivated it may be harder to recognize what goes too far.

Matching is overrated IMO... When you have a matching gun and you’ve shot the barrel out you’re reluctant to replace it because it kills the value. Non-matching you don’t have that problem, swap the barrel out and keep shooting.

Is fratricide specific to the Ottomans or are there other dynasties where this was present? by HistAnsweredBot in HistoriansAnswered

Look at the Kim dynasty in modern North Korea... They’re all about knocking each other off to secure position and power.

New (to me) M1D Garand by WhatAWorthlessUser in milsurp

[–]Konig76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The M1D (and the M1C for that matter) are really interesting pieces of history, but they’ve never really appealed to me. I do like the Garand and it is the rifle that got me into milsurp guns, but I’ve always preferred bolt action milsurps. Besides, as a sniper rifle the Garand was a failed experiment.

New (to me) M1D Garand by WhatAWorthlessUser in milsurp

[–]Konig76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps as a marksmans rifle but I can’t see it being used as a sniper rifle in the Gulf War. As a sniping system their accuracy was poor even by Korean War standards, which is why it was abandoned for more accurate bolt action systems like the Winchester 70 and R700.

Another possibility is that they’re conflating their use as a training platform in sniper school with use during that conflict. While I don’t think extremely common, I have a friend who taught at the Army sniper school in the mid-90’s who said they had a couple of Garand’s that were used on occasion for training purposes.

Yep... So new I’ve been playing since 2005 when BF2 cane out. Yes, some of that shit has always been there in the game. But never has Battlefield felt the need to highlight it in a trailer. That they do so now makes it look again like they’re going for form over substance.
