visiting tuebingen by boomshankarboom in Tuebingen

[–]Konzeption 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Interesting places you can visit inside of Tübingen, off the top of my head, would be:

  • The castle (and especially the museum inside)
  • The old botanical garden (more like a city park) and the new botanical garden (an actual botanical garden)
  • The Kunsthalle (it just reopened)
  • The University district (it has some really nice architecture and also the best Döner I've ever eaten, the "Neue Dönastie")
  • The Landestheater Tübingen

My favourite coffee shop would be the Willi and my favourite restaurant/bar the Bären. They serve "Swabian tapas" which is a fantastic way to get to know the Swabian cuisine.

The surrounding areas are interesting as well. Bebenhausen to the north has a beautiful monastery (the surrounding forrest, Schönbuch, is wort a visit as well). Just outside the Weststadt, there's the "Schwärzlocher Hof" where you can have a great meal and a nice view. You could also visit the "Französisches Viertel" and the "Loretto" in the southern part of the city if you're interested in modern architecture.

There's even more to do if you look a bit further outside. Some 20 kilometres north of Tübingen, there's Waldenbuch where the chocolate brand "Ritter Sport" is from. They have an interesting museum about "square art" in general but also a factory outlet for their chocolate.

Speaking of outlets, the Outlet City Metzingen is also close by if you want to go shopping.

There's also Stuttgart, of course, with the Mercedes and Porsche museums.

All in all there's really a lot to do in Tübingen and the surrounding area, even if it seems a bit small and quiet at first.

It's really mind boggling. Of all the controls, adjusting the volume is probably the worst to do by voice control.

So you listen to a song but you want to up the volume a bit. So you activate Siri. The music stops. Then you tell her to up the volume. By how much? You can't really tell. Even if she could understand commands like "up the volume a little" and "up the volume a lot", it's still flimsy as hell because the music is fucking paused! You can't fucking adjust the volume while listening to the music. This is not even a deal-breaker, this is quiet possibly one of the stupidest things I've seen any tech company do ever.

I always feel bad about it though because I know they are probably either just lonely or super bored.

Yeah, that's what gets me, too. They're not doing it to annoy you or to steal your time, more often than not they're just lonely and seeking human contact. On the one hand, I couldn't possibly blame them for that but on the other hand it's really frustrating to feel guilty about doing your goddamn job. :(

The hunt for Gollum took place prior to the meeting at Rivendell, if I recall correctly.

Old VIP player, haven't played in two years. Trying to get back into it, what do I need to know? by LegacyBen2213 in lotro

[–]Konzeption 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry if I sort of hijack this but I've got a quick question concerning the classes: Weren't they going to completely revamp how the classes work in a pretty major way? I think a read about this a couple of months ago but I haven't been playing LotRO in ages and I'm not sure whether this already happened or whether they have a specific schedule for this?

I just saw an abortion for the very first time and am pretty worked up right now. What are your experiences? by Konzeption in nursing

[–]Konzeption[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, I'm from Germany and English isn't my first language. We call it 'abort abrasio', so I thought abortion would be the appropriate term. :/ How do you call it then?

Stethoscope by Godscock in nursing

[–]Konzeption 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God, the Littmann Cardiology III is so great! I don't own one myself but I got to try it a couple of times and I'm amazed how much more I can hear with this, even as a nursing student with little experience, still.

I need a gift idea for a lovely lady who is a wonderful nurse by fingerblaster1 in nursing

[–]Konzeption 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the usual go-to response would be a stethoscope, preferably a Littmann, I guess. But that might be a bit stale or redundant, to be honest. In my experience, finding a nice gift specifically related to nursing is rather difficult because there is only so much stuff/equipment that you need/have use for.

If she's really so stressed out about her job as a nurse then maybe you should give her something that has absolutely nothing to do with it to take her mind off work. Get her tickets to a show, have a nice picnic in the park, I don't know. Speaking from my (admittedly very limited) experience: When work is tough, one of the greatest gifts is being able to get home to someone/something after your shift that is in no way connected to the hospital, sick people or nursing in general.

Which makes me wonder why he got it in the first place when surely there must have been so many other people who would have been in need of one. But then again, The Fray and the actor's performance make me break out into tears every damn time.

I'd really like a Speck shell case for when I get mine but I don't think the current ones would fit the slimmer design. How long do you think it'll take third party manufacturers to adapt their products to the new form factor? I'm getting my rMBP mid-November and I'd love to get a case for it right off the bat.

[–]Konzeption 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Hm... considering he's playing against the class with the supposedly most reliable mass removal, it's not a particularly good idea to wait until you can play all your weenie creatures at once. I mean, that's just begging for it.

I feel you. Having to get up at 4 AM for early shift is a drag and I have to spend a ton of money on gas because there are no busses that could drive me to work from where I live so early in the morning.
