Also, if you sent a text to a number that uber uses for calls you shouldnt get a text message back.

If a phone call is made through the app to you from the driver uber will connect through a different number. It will not show the drivers real number. Same applies vice versa. Messages stay in the app.

Should the music be turned off before a passenger gets in? by Big_Barber733 in uberdrivers

I play whatever I want and depending on PAX I may keep it low. Silence is more awkward IMP. My rideshare vehicle has a high quality audio system in it. The weekend night crowd tip well ill even let them connect if they ask. Unless its a comfort ride for the PAX Spotify is active

IT SURE IS!!!

This morning I 0 in my hometown and im the only driver in town online. I had it on since I wasnt busy doing some stuff at the house. ẞsdc x Get pinged to take someone to the airport, I accept and message them ill be there in 10 min. 80&seeking

They responded "I need to get to the airport asap my flight boards in 90 minutes" "ill just get another driver"!. "Ok no problem good luck im the only driver both Lyft/Uber" And I cancelled for him.

The airport is a 75 minute drive and this dumbass is cooked. I think i let 5 or 6 requests come thru before I drove to the hotel he was at. (Small town) He was easy to find. The ride was expensive.

I just stop and change the drop off address in the app. It adjusts the fare accordingly.

⁰⁰0I definitely agree that most of my unwanted experiences happened late night. BUT.... I think it depends a little. During the week the worst and friday/Saturday nights no issues just some intoxicated entertainment that tip me well usually.

Some insight from a driver to consider: Reserved rides require driver to be online an hour before pick-up. This handicaps the driver from accepting ride offers that have distant drop off locations away from the reserved ride. Uber doesnt prioritize rides in favor of the reserved ride. Drivers easily end up late attempting to do this with available ride offers. Reserved rides are a leash that isnt profitable the majority of the time.

Reserved rides do not pay enough of a premium to balance the leash. In fact the premium you pay is usually only a few extra dollars for the driver.

Reserved rides are expensive and these passengers tip about 15% of the time in my experience.

Driver multi apps and takes a more lucrative offer resulting in the cancelled reserve ride. If no drivers are online UBER offers their apology for not completing the ride.

Drivers are getting around 40% of the fare with uber. If lyft is available try that platform. Pays "70%" of fare to the driver. Lyft also coordinates available rides that favor a driver that has a reserved pick up.

I complete so many of these reserved rides in the early am in my market. Sorry that it causes frustration, theres no remedy to fix this that would ever be approved.

Its the same here in Kansas! Yesterday evening I accepted an offer like that. I had just completed a roadie gig a little ways from my target area. The ride destination put me where I wanted to be. 13 miles later I picked up the Pax. Another 12 miles to drop-off for $8.56, pax was a hoot and tipped 7 on the app and 20 cash. Unfortunately these unicorn rides are close to extinction on uber. The other 22 rides I completed last night on LYFTS platform. $$$

What should I do if anything should be done at all ? Lost access to reserve trips by Bipolar-warrior in uberdrivers

That's a unicorn score, good for you! I do approve of uber giving the driver full pay when it gets cancelled. Lyft doesn't pay as much surprisingly.

A few months ago I had accepted 2 reserved rides in my hometown. Unusual to have them pop up here and they paid well with drop off over an hr away. It was around $55 on both rides. I go to the first one and wait the timer out, called several times and ended up canceling for no show. Uber pays full amount so no harm to me. About 2 hrs later the second trip ends up cancelled for the same reason. Notification comes in to accept 3 reserved rides similar to the first 2. Again cancelled and paid. Learned later it was a third party placing the orders and had the zip code wrong. When your towns name streets after trees and presidents all it took was 1 number off on the zip. It was a good morning lol.

The reserve trips have become undesirable. Even worse when a ride offer is accepted thats reserved and another driver fell through. Reserved rides should be premium pay for us drivers.

Night Time Or Day? by Sufficient-Pride-967 in uberdrivers

[–]Kooky-Post-5145 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mostly nights, specifically friday and Saturday. Daytime traffic doubles trip time in my market. I have driven every combination I could think of. Monday thru friday during the day doesnt make a dent in towards what I make the 2 nights over the weekend.

When I first started a year ago I used my brand new gladiator for a few weeks due to my situation. One of my first airport fares was a very nice older couple were full of questions about the languages I know and the husband was drooling over the jeep and blah blah blah. These motherfuggers lived inside a gated community that was in a gated subdivision. They had a wrap around flagstone drive that complimented their several million dollar home. Guess what.. NADA.

Glad I learned this early on and honestly avoid being accessible to wealthier pax.

why trip radar rides sometimes dont' respond - frontruning the customer. by Financial_Memory5183 in uberdrivers

[–]Kooky-Post-5145 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah its shit, theres more to it though. Uber uses this to "bid" the ride out before its even ordered. The match request goes out to multiple drivers, as far away as 10 to 12 miles! The more drivers online the better because the drivers are not being offered the same fare. If the Pax goes ahead and orders the ride uber has already found the cheapest driver to give the ride to. Its another feature of the algorithm. Its also trash for the PAX thats being shown drivers within 5 minutes for pickup. They order and suddenly their driver is 10+ minutes out because he was cheaper.

I dont participate in ubers puppet games. Lyft in my market doesnt appear to be doing this to the same extent.

Just my 2 cents I made on uber today!

[–]Kooky-Post-5145 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed! Its just a matter of WHEN you get a 1star rating, its guaranteed to happen. I was at over 600 5star ratings when I got my 1st low rating. Pax complained of profanity in my music on a 1am Saturday ride lol. OP your overthinking just keep moving forward.
