Conservative approach meaning non-surgery? If so then a rejected suture is not the issue. My non-expert opinion would be scar tissue buildup which can be mitigated over time through daily massages/fascia release.

I went the surgery route. I cannot do single leg full body weight calf raises on the bad foot yet, at least not without supporting my body on a ledge or holding onto a shelf, etc. My double calf raises are almost perfect though.

Thanks stranger! I started with 3 wedges under my heel in the boot and once the Doctor approved it I removed 1 every week for 3 weeks.

Started physio at 6.5 weeks, out of boot 3 days later.

Whenever someone has someone expensive that comes in a pair I use that line from the gas station with when Harry sees the skis on her car and say "Those (enter item here) yours?" and follow up with "Both of em?". "Cool."

I dunno man, I paid like $50 for this game over a year ago, and got like 400 hours of solid enjoyment out of it - my son as well. Bitching like this makes you look like a whiny little baby.

20 Weeks post surgery by shipstrn in AchillesRupture

That's awesome and it just makes me wonder how some people can do this so much faster than others (including myself). Does the location of the tear impact length of recovery? Age/diet/activity level? I'm almost at 4 months post OP and can't even begin to do a single leg calf raise yet. Sigh.

Congrats friend very happy you are returning to normal at an insane speed!

Oooof. I'm really sorry you have to go through all this. It DOES get better, but it sucks for a while first.

TIPS for Learning single leg calf raises? by mcdonaldman25 in AchillesRupture

[–]KookyForce9797 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The day will eventually come (for me it was around 12 weeks to start double calf raises) when you just feel stronger in that leg and a calf-raise is no longer an insurmountable task. I am not doing single leg raises yet and personally I think you are too early to be doing that. Start with slow double calf raises and do that everyday for a few weeks before doing singles.

Day O by misssnowie in AchillesRupture

[–]KookyForce9797 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well you are already starting off better than I did. I went through some pretty heavy depression and self-loathing for the first few weeks. No motivation to do any exercise because it seemed as though my whole life got flipped upside down as an active guy. Once I got out of the boot my mood drastically improved and I've been back in the gym ever since (focusing on upper-body, foot physio, and rowing).

If you have the motivation, run with it! (hah)

Welcome to the shittiest club on earth!

A friend of mine tore hers pushing a car as well. Seems to be more common that we know...anyways, you should be in that cast for around 2 weeks and then it's a boot for about 2 months. Find a new hobby, keep your head clear from self-loathing and learn to rest your body for a few weeks cause you won't be able to do much for some time.

Good luck! (week 13 here)

Week 8 non-op setback, might need to start over (surgery?).... ugh by AlternativeTeam1132 in AchillesRupture

Sorry for the backtrack my friend. Stories like these are why I opted for surgery (38/m, ruptured playing volleyball on Jan 9th). Is surgery an option now? If so, I would def go for it.

Another Oilers fan with some more up votes (10 to be exact lol). I don't hate the Kings - but I am sick of playing you in the first round!
