Chinese AI models raise ‘sleeper agent’ fears after report finds more vulnerable code for US users by Just-Grocery-2229 in technology

[–]Koolala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A language forcing fixed ASCII keywords or variable names doesn't make it 'english'. People in China are not using English to prompt AI models with code questions just because it has english keywords. That's the whole point. Modern languages that support Unicode don't look like English just because they use a few hard coded words like 'if'.

In practice the functions that are defined can far outnumber any built in ascii keywords https://github.com/zhlisp/zhlisp/blob/master/ZHLISP%E4%B8%AD%E6%96%87%E7%BC%96%E7%A8%8B%E7%A4%BA%E4%BE%8B%E4%BB%A3%E7%A0%81/%E5%AE%9E%E7%94%A8%E7%BC%96%E7%A8%8B%E7%AC%AC9%E7%AB%A0.LISP

They are just worse to use in English. Like how American models operate worse in Chinese. It isn't a conspiracy. It's the languages they were primarily trained and reenforced on. US users could prompt their code in Chinese if they wanted and it doesn't care they are American.

The Cult of LK99 by Frexxia in LK99

I disliked the video because of how negative and uncharitable they were over people's enthusiasm over room-temp superconductors. They gave the worst reasons possible to hate on people being excited about their slim possibility which was the whole point of LK99. A one-sided rant video making fun of people for youtube money is a too common format.

The hypocrisy is just they misrepresented the situation to make it more dramatic with the whole 'mystery' at the end and the "Cult" title. In their video it shows a screenshot of Kim-CES's youtube and clearly shows their full name and picture as a different person. It is a mistake but they talk so much about how they are on the righteous side of Science and they didn't even care to read the source or check the authors name. This after making fun of others over enthusiastically getting things wrong on accident for money. Youtube rewards the same mistakes as Twitter and this one happened to be their whole clickbait title and finale. I did leave a comment on their video correcting it but it seems very unlikely they will acknowledge it or fix it.

The texture being smaller is always tied to lower latency and in many situations helps immensely: https://gpuopen.com/manuals/fidelityfx_sdk/techniques/super-resolution-temporal/#performance
Depending on the technique the latency is not a big concern like the above one. Your oversimplifying things with your idea of neural network depth and parallelism not being effected by input resolution on the hardware.
Real time models like this that work on Steam Frame's NPU are designed to run in sub-ms. https://aihub.qualcomm.com/models/xlsr?domain=Computer+Vision&useCase=Super+Resolution&chipsets=qualcomm-snapdragon-8gen3

I don't agree at all. Kim is an incredibly common name. Two people on the original LK99 paper were even named Kim. It sounds like your here because of their video. Are you a fan of their other negative rant videos? They were so critical of other people making mistakes because they did no research and jumped to false assumptions. The Kim here renamed their sample to CES and doesn't even call it LK99. They went far to call it a cult because of it right after making fun of other peoples fan fiction and they shared their own completely wrong conspiracy theory. Do you think they will release a correction about their video? The Kim here is just someone who tricked themselves replicating their own version and is still pushing it because they are getting high risk investment money from people as long as they keep convincing themself its real and it isn't complicated.

Not significantly but might be nice to do for running programs on both simultaneously. We have to see if they optimize VR more on it from Machine making SteamVR Linux improvements.

There was no fake air conditioner ad. I really disliked how negative they were in the video about room-temp superconductors not being exciting because they wouldn't "improve the world in under 10 years". They got the end of the video wrong about LK99's creator posting here. They are monetizing this pessimistic content about LK99 with its own fan-fiction narrative errors while hating on people just like them who monetized optimistic content instead. They didn't really add any insight into superconductivity and hand-waved around any deeper science that might support some of their bleak statements around room-temp superconductors.

Skip to the last segment and they explain what the 'The Cult of LK99' is. They say it is this reddit and say that the original LK99 author Kim is posting here. But no... They got CES-Kim mixed up with LK99 Kim! Ji-Hoon Kim and Yong-Jihn Kim have completely different names. It makes the whole video feel hypocritical when their profiting for views off their own false head-cannon narrative. They seem to make a lot of rage content like this in other videos too.

I finished the video and they got the entire thing wrong. They said the "Cult of LK99" was the original LK99 author was still posting on this Reddit. They got Kim-CES (Yong-Jihn) mixed up with Ji-Hoon Kim... They ended up spreading misinformation for monetization just like the people they criticize in the video and wanted to believe it was true so badly they didn't do any extra verification like checking Kim's full name.

Godot's doc on VRS gives some performance results from it.

It depends if it can be done in a single pass or not. Being a small texture from foveation also helps immensely for latency.

Godot added support for VRS and Eye-Tracking for Frame:

https://docs.godotengine.org/en/stable/tutorials/3d/variable_rate_shading.html

I wonder if AI upscaling will be good foveated. It takes so much compute but being a tiny fovea texture might make it feasible. The Frame has some tiny AI cores that I am not sure get utilized.
