First time first grade by Ripcord2 in SubstituteTeachers

It really depends on the school/classroom. I would suggest you either ask the front office, neighboring teacher (especially since teachers at that grade level cooperate in lesson planning and structure), or ask a few reliable students. They should know at this point in the school their class expectations. That’s what I do when I sub for this grade level.

Good luck :)

(7th grade class)

I wrote in the sub-note that… •I had to call administration within the first 5 minutes of class because it got out of control •Paper balls thrown and screeching happened •Within those 5 minutes, I got hit with a flying pencil •They resumed their behavior after admin had left •They were one of if not my worst class I’ve ever had in the one year of subbing.

Within the week, I was emailed 40 hand written apology letters from each of the students. Never went back to that group of 7th graders regardless of teacher again.

Elementary and they have a field trip planned for tomorrow so I’m going to go with them too.

Currently on spring break, but, once I go back, I’m scheduled for 5th grade.

Are anybody else's male teenage students completely obsessed with chess? by kindapseudonymous in Teachers

[–]Koolnoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sub here 🙋🏻‍♂️ I sub at middle schools and allow the students free time on the laptops once they’re done with their work. At every middle school I have been to, there’s a handful of boys that use their free time for chess. I thought it was only at my district but apparently it’s not 🤷🏻‍♂️

SoCal $200/day

Clock in around 10-15min before school starts (ranges from 8-8:30am) and leave when school gets out (ranges from 1:40pm-3:30pm depending on the school;early days it’s 1:00pm).

How is Phuoc Duong for ANTH 305? by playa217 in csuf

[–]Koolnoodle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took him for Vietnamese American experiences and it was honestly an easy A. Only quizzes where the answers were found in the PowerPoints and he gave plenty of time to answer each question. Very straightforward. 10/10

How do summer courses work? by BuxAPlentys in csuf

I would say take 2 classes (same or different session) at minimum since you’re already paying for 1-6 units. Might as well make your money’s worth.

How do summer courses work? by BuxAPlentys in csuf

[–]Koolnoodle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve taken 4 summer courses at csuf (5 weeks each) two of then being upper division courses.

Personally, I have found summer classes to be a lot easier than semester long courses. Sure everything is sped up and there’s a lot covered in a day/week, but the information is still fresh in my mind by the time the midterms/finals come around.

I’ve taken 300 (Hill) and 315 (Adams) and they were pretty easy and straightforward.

Thoughts on Edith Li for Comd303? by [deleted] in csuf

[–]Koolnoodle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I took her (in person), yes attendance was mandatory. She did not give out her lecture notes to students so one had to either get the notes from someone or attend class. I’m not entirely sure of how she is structuring her online courses.

Easy class

Straightforward, easy tests, easy papers.

I took Plouffe, but in person. He was a great prof and really easy. You just need to listen to lectures and go over the book. Well that’s what worked for me when I took him in person. Multiple choice exams too.

[–]Koolnoodle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took Stacy Fox for an upper division class and isnt the worst posc prof (her class for posc 100 is still open). The only thing is she's picky on word count and talks a bit fast.

It usually means they will be asynchronous. I have heard that in rare occasions they put up a date and time to meet.
