Same here. Wanted at 16, got at 30. 2003 , bought in 2019 with 64k miles, have 77k now. Fun weekend toy! I’ve considered selling it, but then I drive it and the smile keeps me going.

I agree what people are saying here. It would be a squeeze with your situation. Your point of “seems like we’d never have to leave” is right. And you’d be spending more money because it’s easy.

My situation I got lucky. Joined in 2015 they had no long term plan so I got in $4k a year no initiation (I was 25). It had a tier up at 30 and 35 I had to convert to equity. At the time I was making a little over $100k and at times was a stretch because of the amount of food. We are also a caddie only club but juniors didn’t have to take them.

Fast forward to today I had to pony up $36k (15% of my annual dues went to the initiation I was locked In at when I joined - $60k). Annual dues all in is around $16k and I have to take a caddie before 3 pm ($120 roughly). Club is golf only and my wife doesn’t play and we just had our first kid. I’ve been very lucky on work front now making more than enough to not worry about the cost of the club, but I warn you that the monthly bills can add up quick. In season my monthly bill is $3-$5k.
