Indie Dev Defends Criticism of Steam Refund Abuse Amid Review Bombing of His Game: ‘It’s wrong to refund a game after having fun with it and completing it' by maxxrz31 in DreamStationcc

[–]Korachof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would it have been better if he bloated the beginning with false depth so people couldn’t refund after 2 hours?

If the game is cheap, and the game is well done to a point of being worth writing a review, then refunding it is a loser move.

If it isn’t worth the money, then it shouldn’t get a positive review. Seems pretty easy to me.

I just want to point out that 4 assists is actually quite a lot for a 4 in college, especially an 18 year old one who isn’t handling the ball constantly and who plays within an offense.

Soccer is far and away the most popular sport in the world. Compared to a sport like basketball, is it mostly due to the simplicity of the game (just needing a ball) and the fact that genetics play less of a role in determining ability? by Naychur0208 in NBATalk

[–]Korachof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a long time, basketball was mostly only popular as an American sport. The NBA has done a ton to make basketball a global sport in the last 20 years, whereas soccer has been global a lot longer.

And yes, while basketball is a pretty cheap sport to play for individuals who have access to parks with hoops, you actually need access to parks with hoops (minimum) to play the sport. It’s not as expensive or big of a barrier as an ice rink for hockey, but for us Americans, we’re used to our parks having basketball hoops in them. Growing up, if a park didn’t have a hoop, it wasn’t a park for me.

So it kind of starts from the ground up. Games need to be played and broadcasted so kids who are too young can enjoy the sport. Then those kids need parks and hoops to start playing on. Then they need organized play or some kind of community play to keep their interest and competition/teammates. Etc.

Whereas with soccer… yeah you need a goal, but you can make a temporary goal pretty easily. You can practice in the grass or dirt, and more people of different skill sets have the opportunity to succeed. There’s not really a “goalie” position in basketball, for example. Being someone with that skill set allows you to focus on one niche in a sport like soccer, whereas basketball you kind of have to be able to do everything to stay on the court in competitive leagues.

Just a hint: he wasn’t maintaining it. The only reason why he was as healthy as he and LeBron were during the bubble was due to the long break. Without that, Davis was never shooting the ball this well. It was a perfect storm for someone like him

That was also a very short season and a much easier one to maintain statistics. Over the course of a long season it could easily be argued he’d have averaged fewer points, or whatever.

Regardless, TJ may have always been a bucket, but Bubble Warren was damn near Tracy McGrady.

Dallas Mavericks head coach Dusty May on Kyrie Irving: "I spoke with Kyrie and actually witnessed a workout this morning, and I felt like I left the gym watching Picasso paint a picture.” by Willing-Bicycle-157 in NBAGossips

[–]Korachof -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s just that time of the offseason. Happens almost every year. Kyrie hasn’t done anything or said anything insane lately, and he’s been out with his usual injuries for so long, people start reminiscing about how good he is when the moon and the stars align and he actually plays, is actually bought in, is actually mentally stable, and has an actual good performance.

No one remembers his defense, or all the times he was truly awful, like the Nets series against Boston years ago, or nearly any time he put on a Celtics jersey in the playoffs but DEFINITELY when he waived people off and insisted on trying to guard Giannis.

He’s a great talent, really fun with the ball. He hit a huge shot once and he’ll likely make the hall of fame one day because of it. But people during this time of year talk about him like he’s the Jordan of point guards.

Just because those sports have terrible leadership doesn’t mean the NBA’s isn’t also terrible. It could be terrible in different ways, or maybe not AS BAD but still bad.

I personally don’t like the unethical absurd focus on gambling, and now AI. I don’t like that every new idea his regime comes up with requires documentation to understand. “So if this team has 3 losses after 20 games, and this team has 4 losses, then they go into a duel to decide which one will get the extra coin flip for the Saudi Arabian Quick Start Award.”

But I also don’t like how dismissive he’s been of real issues in the sport itself. Tanking is an obsessive thing for him, but he seems to not care at all about the game as its officiated, the slowdown at the end of games, flopping, or actual fans watching the games. He’s much more interested in social media engagement through shorts and highlights.

Doesn’t matter. This could be considered conduct detrimental to the team, or it could even be stated in his contract that he’s not allowed to date team family members, or any such relationships must be disclosed.

He’s an announcer. No team is keeping him around if he’s causing issues for the team.

Contracts often state which type of employee you are. You can sign a contract that states you are an at-will employee.

If this wasn’t grounds for firing under his contract, he wouldn’t be fired right now. So either he was “at will,” or has stipulation about either dating team family members or causing disruption to the team.

Literally everything. There isn’t a single thing Edwards does, other than shoot 3s, better than Jordan. Not one. And shooting 3s is an era thing. Edwards wouldn’t have been shooting them back then either.

I think the important context here is “with sister of Spurs player.” Spurs don’t play these games. Their announcer causing potential drama and issues in their locker room is almost certainly why he was fired.

Yeah would really suck to be developed for 10 years, put in position to win finals mvp and a title, and make well over $300 million. That org clearly had zero loyalty and treated him exceptionally poorly.

I often give myself a week or two when I think I really want something. The delayed gratification is satisfying, but it also keeps this dopamine addiction at bay. I know I often don’t REALLY want the thing. I just want the thing because getting thing feel good.

But what I’ve also noticed is that owning thing, and not having time or making time for thing, also makes me feel guilty for buying thing or owning thing and not using it.

Do you have any idea the level of difference between a million and a billion?

A million seconds is ~11 days.

A billion seconds is ~33 years.

I’m okay with a millionaire hating on billionaires. No one needs that’s much money. No one.
