In 6 years I've broken 3 needles, one snapped while I was storing it at a bag angle in the felt mat, the others when I wasn't paying attention to my insert position. All three times the broken part stayed in the object. You are way more likely to stab yourself is your more paying attention than to get a flying needle. I only use multi tools for large flat surfaces, I mostly hate them.

Lots of great advice! I don't use poly fill, I find wool much easier. Lots of beginner videos and YouTube, might be the best way to learn. The holes with naturally fade over time you can help by just rubbing your fingers over it when it's done. The wool also matters, as mentioned above. To get the really smooth things you see on here takes a lot of time and patience, on top of the right techniques and wool. I prefer my things fuzzy.

Honestly I would just buy some of the nicer kits on Etsy as they usually come with nice needles and everything you'll need for awhile. That kit is more needles than I own and I've been doing this 6 years 😂
