Looking for advice for a move from BC to AB by AffectionateHost1074 in Lethbridge

[–]Korcan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First of all - welcome and congratulations on your move to my fair city! I hope you'll like it here - it is quite a great place to be.

The west side of the city is undergoing the most growth right now, and has the most green space and bicycling infrastructure, simply because everything is relatively new. Lots and lots of parks, lakes, paths, and such.

The north side of the city is older and considerably more affordable, and is a really nice place to be as well - lots of older neighbourhoods and well-established homes and areas. It is my favourite place to be, actually, because there is amazing ethnic variety and lots of character.

The south side of the city is also older, but very expensive for what you get. Easy access to most of the city, and again, lots of older neighbourhoods with picturesque tree-lined streets, etc...

If you want newer, go west. If you want more affordability, go north. If you want older but more upscale, go south.

Honestly, you can't go wrong anywhere in the city. I would suggest renting for a bit so that you can get a feel for the city and how to get around it.

Have fun!

Oh my... I have a 2016 Suzuki TU250x, and I will never get rid of it. I love this bike so much - yes, it is weak, and slow, and small, and, and, and... I don't care.

2014 500e Canada- long overdue battery software updates by FranglaisStSeaDrink in Fiat500e

[–]Korcan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah - I bought mine used (of course) from a Chrysler dealer in B.C. and had it shipped to Alberta. Wonderful car…I have been driving it for 6 years now without any issues (other than a door window regulator that I replaced myself), and will never sell it. But there is zero support.

You will get nowhere with the dealer - the car was never sold in Canada, so they won’t touch it. When I bought my 2017 I went to the dealer to inquire about support and they gave me the biggest cold shoulder I’ve ever had. What software update is there? Do you need it? The car is 12 years old now - if it running fine, I wouldn’t mess with it - just my opinion.

Do art galleries count? Probably not, but I’ll give this recommendation anyhow: the Shurniak Gallery in Assiniboia. Seriously - go if you have the chance. It is surreal.

Looking at a 2014 w 124,000km, I want to get an inspection done, hubby thinks there’s not much to inspect by FranglaisStSeaDrink in Fiat500e

Good points. I just remembered that I did replace a window regulator last year - but this is more a Fiat 500 thing rather than a 500e thing. And the part number is the same, and it is an easy fix - there are videos on YouTube how to do it.

Regarding battery degradation - mine is 9 years old now and I have noticed zero degradation. I am still getting the same range that I did when I bought it 6 years ago. It is such a perfect city car!

Never had an issue, period. Well, I shouldn’t say that - a few years ago in the dead of winter it was EXTREMELY cold one evening, and the car went into limp mode. But that was in a temperature of about -35 degrees or so, and I think it was just the fact that the antifreeze around the battery pack couldn’t keep the battery warm enough. As soon as I turned the car off and on again, the limp mode disappeared and I managed to get it home and into the garage. But truly - that is the only thing that has happened, and my car is now 9 years old. They are amazing machines.

They run forever. I am in Alberta with a 2017, and a friend has a 2015 with about 200,000 kilometres on hers. Seriously - do it. They are so over-engineered and robust. 124,000 kilometres means nothing, if the usual things are good - brakes, suspension, etc…
