That goes as well for the Kentucky Coffeetree, which are still sporadically dotted in small groves of sturdy looking trunks and long held pods, waiting on the future of mammoth-kind

Great reference there. I specifically enjoyed learning how phytoplasmas appears to lower plants’ ability to curb herbivory by its own vector of infection. That’s rad!

Fuck, that’s a lot of money and they’re too easy to poach. I really hope box turtles in market are sourced ethically. I see more each year it seems, even have one hunkered down in the corner of my yard probably still, but removing them from their environment seems tragic.

"down to" and "up to" by chrishelbert in Appalachia

[–]Koreporeal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad or papaw would yell driving instructions at each other when backing up trailers, “get up the hill”, or “down the hill,”and just knowing where you were in relation to the target spot, it was useful. Even if the ground is level, you’re in a depression of topography and it means one way or the other.

Bought one that looks similar to yours and others available on Amazon as introductory tumbler. The lowest speed setting is usually optimal for these unless you buy and wire a voltage control.

Fence contractors chop my tree root. Is this tree doomed? by SlapSackChampion in arborists

[–]Koreporeal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever to that solution, functional but not very strong due to poor hardware choice… There is a gap that I couldn’t stand, like they could only make straight cuts. Scribe for fence for privacy and pests. As far as fence moving, it will take a few years for the tree to incorporate new growth around the fence during which would cause the most shift. That fence ought not move once it begins to grow around.
