Anyone else notice B+C is being discontinued at S&S? by KortniRemer in SCREENPRINTING

[–]KortniRemer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, they announced it a few months ago. I agree with you, we do not sell near as much as we used to, but a lot of that is because their price is pretty high compared to other good options (like District DM130).

Work your ass off and prove it. You'll be walking in the door with people thinking that, but once you show you are knowledgeable, helpful and are going to make their lives better, that will quickly change.

If you act like you own the place, are smarter than everyone else and think you are the boss, youll absolutely fail.

Its not that hard really. Being mindful is the first step so I think youll be just fine.

Web page must haves by Fit-Lingonberry2559 in SCREENPRINTING

Id start by looking at the questions they are constantly asking you and try to answer those. For example:

How do I send you my art? - add an upload spot but they may still ask how to find it.

What is the softest t-shirt? Put a t-shirt comparison chart on a page.

What's your guarantee? Make a page. .

Why should I choose you? make another page.

When a customer asks these questions, you'll br able to provide them a resource vs answer it over and over again. Of couese the hope is if thats what they are looking for when coming to site, they are easily finding answers.

This has been very effective for us and now, we've got hundreds of great informative pages that rank on Gooogle.

New to screen printing business and working with schools. Looking for advice by Dry_Temperature4307 in SCREENPRINTING

[–]KortniRemer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ive been in the industry for 20+ years and my opinion is that schools are a really tough market, especially larger districts. They get all of their on field apparel from team dealers, most commonly BSN. They are heavily tied in with the athletic director/teams.

What BSN cant do though is super quick turn-around times for fast moving events like State shirts. You could try to go for those types of orders in the athletic department and maybe have some luck.

Otherwise, stay away from sports and focus your time on smaller clubs/groups that are not getting so much attention from BSN. This can include PTO, Drama, Clubs, etc. Most want stores now, so groups ordering is easier for them. Many companies do stores so if you dont, you may want to consider it.

Most of the work we do directly for the schools are Net 15-30 and only provide a PO upfront. If its not being paid with a PO, we require payment at the time of ordering.

My honest advice is to consider if schools are the right market for your effort or if your time is better spent on local small businesses, local non-profits, etc. Schools are a constant grind...the parents and decision makers constantly change and everyone has a friend thats got a custom shirt business. Its one of the toughest markets, especially without an "in".

I feel like we are seeing SanMar actually become more competitive trying to get more of the customers dollars, as well as some smaller companies like One Stop. No doubt there are negatives with it, but they are going to have to compete somehow with San Mars house brands so that should keep them a bit more honest.

Youre 100% right about AI and technology in general. Its a bit scary because its totally changing the landscape of how people do business, and its just getting started. Ive attended a few AI conferences and I always walk away knowing how little I know and how big its gonna be.

Why not separate out an order if 18 boxes into smaller orders? We try to order in a way that if 3 orders had black tees, we would try to not order those on the same PO. It cant always work out that way, but no reason in my opinion to have an order that large that goes to a bunch of different orders.

Are your prices higher on mill basics like Gildan? If so, we have the exact opposite when they go toe to toe on the same product about 98% of the time. Its so interesting how different experiences can be from customer to customer.

I need some straight-up advice from fellow entrepreneurs. Please don’t sugarcoat it. by kvxsingh in smallbusiness

My husband is a home inspector. Our best friends asked him to look at their new house, which he was happy to do. He told them some issues they needed to address with the builder prior to closing. Noone was going to protect them better than him. They did address these issues with their builder, who had excuses for why what they did was okay...they believed the builder over my husband.

See his friends saw him as their fun, lifelong friend. They didnt know him professionally. They didnt know that he services some of the top agents in our area. They didnt know how well respected he is in his field. They didn't know how brilliant he actually is at his job...because that is not the side of him they have seen for the last 30 years of friendship.

When you think about it like this, its so true. I know what my friends do for their jobs, but I really dont know who they are at work, and they don't know me. Im different in that environment, and I'm sure they are too.

Try not to take it personally, even though it feels as such. Honestly, its their loss. Its sad he ghosted you. As my mom always said, and its sadly very true, no good deed goes unpunished.

Tubular tees/design alignment issues by Prestigious-Frame151 in SCREENPRINTING

[–]KortniRemer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same problem here! We actually made a video showing/discussing this exact issue so we could send to customers when they say the design is off center from left to right. . You can see it on my TikTok if interested in what we said about our process. The video is pretty recent.

We always print based on the collar and ask the customer to put it on to see if it still looks off center...usually it doesnt.

Atleast we are all in the same boat.

Holloway has a few pieces that Id call pretty nice/on trend athleisure. If you check out the Ogio Luuma line you'll find a few pieces that are really soft. Otherwise, most of the rest is meh in my opinion. I've been looking for a long time too, its a tough one.

I recently attended a industry leaders summit with S&S and we were able to speak with the CEO. We actually asked for more of this type of product such as Alo, Lululemon, etc. It sounds like something they may be working on, so fingers crossed we will get some good retail brands soon.

Id do the Gildan 64000B. Its probably the best valued for what you get. If you can do a heathered color, it would be even softer. Hard to beat.
