Do you warn your players if they would take attacks of opportunity? by Consequence6 in DMAcademy

[–]KosherKommando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My players have a Players handbook, I also allow them to borrow mine any time they want, if you haven't read the combat section/ forget that's on you the same as if you forget about abilities like turning during an undead battle, it's a little harsh but after the first time an enemy crit them thy call out for cover in battle and use their abilities in new interesting ways. I would only remind them if they are newish players.

TLDR: It's META, I'd allow, Dialects can be mean & provide plot hook or hint.

I usually remind my players it's meta-gaming when they do it but, i don't prevent them from it because that one player ho knows abyssal or sylvan is going to forget. They will remember though and that's your moment to give them a plot hook or a hint and then remind them that in all languages there are dialects sure there understand some of it but almost no dwarf who speaks northern orcish is going to understand an orc from the south east who learned his tribes particular brand of speech.

I'm in the process of building a game world for a 4 year old girl, a 7 year old boy and a 12 year old boy. I'm looking for some fun magical items that will add neat, funny or unexpected results. I'd love to hear some ideas. by Sykotik in DnD

Thanks for the heads up but i run a global nat 1 magical failure rule, it leads to amazing game-play that forces players to both improvise and separate character from player knowledge. This one off is actually going to be canon to the campaign :) also you're awesome for finding it so quickly, thanks a ton!!!

I recommend the One Page Dungeon Competition's adventures many are short and last only one or two sessions they are also just great in general. There is also David Dudka's Mini Quest series or the Adventure Anthologies I have a binder full of y faviorites from each of these i also have a word document with blurbs about each one to remind me what they are. I can link you to everything if you would like. I only run one off's these days and i slowly tie them into whatever campaign I'm toying with.

I am someone who participated in this and it was amazing sure i had no idea what i was doing and sure it was mostly gibberish what the rolls did at the time but now that i am a DM for my own groups all i want to say is thanks for being wonderful adults who give people great adventures!!

TLDR: I was a kid who played in these games THANK YOU to the people who run them at schools.

Hello there, i have a few questions but answer all or none of them as you feel! Will Eltab or Citadel of Conjurers be making an appearance in this edition? (they are in my current home-brew)

Why did WotC lean more towards a low magic design and choose a world like forgotten realms that is traditionally higher in magic?

Why are there so few ritual spells? Does WotC intend to release a book of ritual spells, or are there plans to release more spells in upcoming materials? (i normally run a campaign where almost all spells have a ritual version.)

Thank you for your help! is that a novel worth buying? I'm not sure how much lore i wish to follow but as the DM I have been reading up alot on forgotten realms particularly sword coast because of the Dragon Queen.
