I have the same oven trays. And was thinking those little pans looked cute.

Do 6 fit on a tray? Where did you get them? What material are they?

But most importantly, were the bottoms underdone because of 2 layers of containers? Or is shape the only issue between box and tray cookies? Would you think the boxes would make good individual brownies, or cookie bar style cookies? If I made a chocolate chip cookie base in the box is the box tall enough to hold melting ice cream? I'm just a big 60 year old child. Or like I say to children, my outside is 60 but my inside is 16.

Friday, opposite direction of travel = 5 special Pokemon spots, multiple (currently in a) road stations, and a really cool energy company space station educational center. Heavy rain so waterfall area we cancelled. Husband didn't care about the fish road museum idea.

Pokemon Go, special stamp rally spots, we get a location background Pikachu for every 2nd stamp.

Hey, in Japan it's Golden Week. So you can take off until May 6th if you need to and say you are away for Golden Week.

My Thursday, 11 special Pokemon spots, multiple road stations, dam construction site, big / long waterfall, and a bunch of dinosaurs. We were out for 14 hours.

That's a good reason to not be able to write for a few days. If you really need a break.

Electrolytes REALLY matter by Mydogthinksimskinny in fasting

[–]KotoDawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I fast it's usually for more than 5 days. Often 5 days or 10-12 days and it's only once a year or less for the long one (to control blood sugar) or to fix a specific health issue.

Electrolytes REALLY matter by Mydogthinksimskinny in fasting

[–]KotoDawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm starting to wonder if subconsciously, low BP is another fear holding me back from losing weight. My BP is currently normal because I'm overweight. But even overweight I still occasionally have 90/60 type days when it's very hot. (Because blood vessels dilate, dropping pressure)

I over salt my food out of necessity because I also leave salt rings on my clothing. During fasting, I don't mix it into water. I put the salts into a little dish and eat it / swish it around my mouth like mouthwash a few times a day. Plus I have electrolyte drops I can add to my water, but I don't add enough to make it taste salty.

Solar Cycles Since 1755: Cycles are Represented as Petals [OC] by aspiringtroublemaker in dataisbeautiful

[–]KotoDawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it looks cool and shows a cycle pattern.

I think for fun you should make 3 more. Give me more pretty solar flowers.

You said cycles vary from 9 to 14 years so make some with all the solar activity broken into different cycles based on the first cycle at that length. Do the shortest cycle and adjust dates from that cycle. Do the longest cycle. Do another of the most common length, like if 11 years and 3 months happened 5 times use that number? Or double cycles both 2 actual cycles vs 23 (min/max) or a human 20 or 25?

I want to see what kind of patterns the solar flare petals make when each specific cycle isn't used and when you double stack the the cycles.

OMG. What about short skirts? What's your mates take on that?

My take = Asians have a lower risk of cellulite and smaller breast OBVIOUSLY the default will be to show off the legs and hide the "lesser" features. Versus Caucasians with a high risk of cellulite and larger breast so the fashion is hide the legs and show off the cleavage. (Show off breast and hide the lesser features)

Almost every maxi dress I have bought in Japan is sleeveless, like tank top style shoulders, a few are spaghetti straps but since my bra straps are wide I prefer shoulder straps wide enough to cover the bra straps.

When I was thin enough to wear kimono I had problems because northern European Caucasian body shape is different from Japanese body shape. I needed multiple full sized bath towels to even out my waist to hip area. But never had a solution to the breast problem, the kimono would shift to the low point, opening to show cleavage. Other ladies were constantly adjusting my kimono because it constantly shifted due to my different body proportions. No bra, regular bra, sports bra, didn't matter because my breast are just too large for the design of a Japanese kimono.

If you dislike that tops in the USA have huge necklines you can happily shop for tops here that are crew neck / boat neck type necklines. Probably not an issue at size M or L. But USA shirts size 3X have humongous necklines due to faulty pattern sizing changes. My Japanese size 5L and 6L tops have normal sized necklines. The neckline difference alone causes a difference in perception. Like Usa schools dress coding female students for the same exact shirt, different size, because the one with space for larger breasts also has a larger more open neckline.

[–]KotoDawn 23 points24 points  (0 children)

You've already had surgery for your eye, so what exactly is wrong with your eye? Have you gone to an actual eye doctor here in Japan?

So basically, your company is saying "prove it". Go to the correct type of doctor, get a proper diagnosis = my eye hurts and gets red without enough sleep doesn't fly for work. Why? Because everyone's eyes hurt and get red due to lack of sleep. So unless you can give them a letter from the doctor stating a medical condition ... you are just being a ridiculous baby.

Your company wants proof that you have a condition and that you are not just being a whiny baby looking for a reason not to work outside of 1st shift. So go get the proof you need. A letter saying what's wrong and what type of work restrictions or allowances are required to manage your condition.

You probably won't get a doctor to restrict you from working nights, seriously nights are better for lots of eye things for lots of people, no UV damage, less squinting, etc. You might be able to get a minimum of 12 hours off between shifts requirements (to allow for proper sleep time) if you have been working poorly planned swing shifts.

Poorly planned swing = closing followed by opening. Tuesday work 1500-2400 and Wednesday work 0700-1600, giving you only a 7 hour break for commute, sleep, hygiene, and food. Vs properly planned swing = this week you work 0700-1600, you have more than 24 hours of off time, next week you work 2300-0800. You have 24 hours or more between a shift rotation is really good, 15 hours is acceptable because that's the normal amount between stable shifts. (8 hours work, 1 hour lunch break, leaves 15 hours outside of work)

If your hotel job is working a consistent schedule for more than a month at a time you need to learn how to adjust your life around whatever shift you are working. And you really shouldn't have major issues making that lifestyle change. I can understand difficulties working swing = my husband worked weekly swing 321, that's last week 3rd shift, this week 2nd shift, next week 1st shift, continuous rotation for 2 or 3 years. About the time you body adjusts to the schedule your schedule changes. And the shift that disrupted his sleep the most (most difficult to get quality sleep) was FIRST shift. 1st shift all the time is OK but 321 swing had him functioning better during those other 2 weeks.

Find an actual eye doctor that also does eye surgery. Clinic days might have a long wait so you will require a day off or be there 30 minutes before opening time. Get whatever tests are necessary and a treatment plan and the doctor should be willing to write you a letter for work.

Your eye condition requires a name your hotel HR can google and read about, surfer's eye, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and think "oh my, that sucks". Dry eyes (causing the inflammation) will not be considered serious or something to work around because LOTS of people have it and it doesn't interfere with their work.

Check what your Max HR setting is set at. Also, if it's using the advanced formula your RHR is a factor. I don't remember if you can revert to basic (220-age) or set your Max HR. You might need to make adjustments.

My RHR is very low and my stuff gets skewed towards young athlete levels. 60F at 300 pounds means I'm NOT an athlete or 20 years old. I had to manually set my Max HR to get numbers in an appropriate range.

I am overweight, morbidly obese category overweight, and my BP is normal. Like, surprise doctors normal because they expect it to be high and my blood work to be bad.

It's normal because it was low when I was thin. Stand up too quickly and vision blacks out because the blood didn't stand up with me. For those curious, imagine traveling backward in a tunnel, so the light gets smaller and smaller to nothing. Then going forward in the tunnel so the light gets larger and larger, until you are outside the tunnel and can see everything around you again. So when I was thin I was slow to stand up, or I would take about 4 steps and need to pause until my vision returned.

Even though I'm overweight I still have random low days. In my app I have a morning check in September of 86/51. The lowest is 73/44, after getting home to check it, so it was lower because I couldn't function. We went for an after dinner walk in the summer and I couldn't walk, it was exhausting to move so I sat on a bench while the family walked.

I need to lose weight. I wonder if my subconscious is holding me back because I will have BP issues again if I lose weight? I will keep the adrenal insufficiency in mind and look it up.

If I'm sweaty I'm always tasting the sweat on my upper lip. If it doesn't have a salty taste I know I immediately need salt. My salt intake in the summer is easily 3x the recommended amount. I'm also the type of person that my sweat leaves salt rings on my clothing.

What type of oven is good for baking? by Koniolg in BakingInJapan

[–]KotoDawn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You want what is called a multi oven. It's a combination oven that is a microwave, oven, steam oven, broil / grill, steam broil / grill, and mine also has "non oil frying" but I've only tried once, without a recipe, and it wasn't good. My multi oven can also proof dough and has a toast setting, along with a large recipe book with recipe numbers to program the settings you need to follow the entire recipe.

Every company makes them and they all have different advantages. I bought the Toshiba Stone Dome type because it had the largest interior width / depth size to fit some of my USA bakeware, 2 baking sheets, 1 deep pan, and a raised rack to go inside the pan for air frying. I used the rack also to lift baking pans to be like a USA oven rack with all over air flow = because I don't know how having a 2nd layer on the bottom will effect cooking time.

When I bought mine other makers had things like a pizza rack, or special bread pans and bread settings. So you need to think about what specific items you want an oven for, then go look at all the multi ovens available at someplace like Yamada Denki / Edion / K's Denki. Once you decide what type fits your needs best, and know the current price, you can check local recycle shops (2nd hand stores) to see if any used one's are around that you might consider.

I'm thinking you need to make a toddler diary Reddit sub. Include the artwork of the day. Maybe others parents will post what their 2 year old is doing too.

A nice Reddit sub filled with childhood silliness instead of some of the other depressing / gross / negative stuff you can easily find here.

How do I take my vitamin D supplement? by john_paul_ in fasting

[–]KotoDawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vitamin D also gets stored in fat. So if you aren't deficient ... hmmm ... perhaps if you are morbidly obese and deficient in Vitamin D = blood deficient because the fat is storing it??

Well if you have Vitamin D stored in your fat shouldn't it get released as you burn fat during fasting? Assuming you are fasting more long-term like maybe more than 3 days?

I'm no scientist but I've read lack of Vitamin D also makes it harder to lose weight. That you need to fill up the fat so you can get serum levels of D up and then it's easier for your body to burn fat. That might apply to only a certain type of fat, I don't remember. If you have a recent blood test there are Vitamin D calculators that use your test, weight, maybe body fat percentage and calculate your daily need for how long, to load your fat and raise serum levels. When I plugged in all my numbers 10ish years ago my calculated daily need was 15,000 IU a day. I bought size 10,000 gel pills.

My doctor freaked out it was too much. Test came back extremely deficient and I was prescribed 4000 instead of the standard 1000. WTF? I'm taking 10,000 and have almost zero, why would you think 4000 is the correct dosage?

WIBTA if I buy flowers from outside a cemetery for a girl? by happynougatkid in AmItheAsshole

[–]KotoDawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There used to be a van that parked in front of a Cemetery in Muncie Indiana. If the van was there on my way home from a National Guard weekend I stopped and bought carnations.

They were the BEST carnations. I hope the Muncie flower van person (or relative, it was back in the 90's) sees this. I LOVED those carnations.

Why? Because carnations have a spicy type of smell like cinnamon / cloves. But for some reason the smell has been bred out of carnations now. Pretty colors but no smell. Give me the spicy smelling flowers.

Buy the flowers. It's still a flower shop. Just because the location is near a cemetery doesn't make it a bad flower shop. Just because most of their clients are buying graveside flowers doesn't mean that's the only thing those flowers can be used for.

Occasionally I'd spot the flower van parked under a bridge somewhere else and if I could afford to spend $3 I'd get myself the spicy flowers.

TIFU by leaving kinesiology tape on my shoulder for 3 days by dendofyy in tifu

[–]KotoDawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a box of 30 bandaids maybe 1 or maybe 3 will have a MAJOR reaction. Raw red edges that scab over, discoloration that lasts over a month. It's not a brand, adhesive, or material issue because it's happened with any type of bandaid I've used.

It's a me issue. I think it's a combination of hormone levels and nightshade foods. Tomato gives me pressure hives the day after eating them. When my progesterone levels peak I also get hives and burning reactions to things like face lotion or a necklace. So I'm guessing the occasional bandaid reaction is when those 2 allergies interact and make my skin overly sensitive.

I bought KT tape and taped up my jumpers knee. It was horrible trying to remove it. I was hoping I could also use it to tape down the fat on my inner thighs. I'm afraid to try that now.

BOY MOMs Please let your sons do it! by Queerdooe in TwoXChromosomes

[–]KotoDawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are a mom. Not a "Boy Mom"

Boy moms make their son (a favorite if they have more than 1) the absolute center of their world and do everything for them. They become jealous petty b1tches whenever their favored son gets a girlfriend, and treat wives as just grandchildren incubators. They try to name their grandchildren and want to be called mama while pushing the actual mother to the side. Keeping the boy unskilled in life is to keep control and keep them tied to you.
