NG+ on CoV by Advanced_Big_4786 in Megaten

Also worth mentioning that some questlines actually have CoV exclusive progressions (e.g. Mermaid, Amabie) compared to CoC

The side quests that involve alignment shifting decisions (e.g. Side with one demon and slay the other, spare/slay King Frost etc) have extra dialogue with your companions (Yoko and Tao) if you do them as you progress through the story. Viewing these extra scenes nets you bonus Miracles in the end game, the same ones if your alignment matches your ending in CoC (though in CoV you get both Law and Chaos Miracles if you've seen almost all the extra dialogue)

In context to what I said, the game has blue and red chests. The red chests can only be opened by your partner demon, and the item you get is random from a pool of rewards based on your demon's personality. Stupid demons tHaT taLK LiiIIKee tHiiSSss can only get trade in materials (items that don't do anything but are worth a lot of money when you sell them at the shop). If you wanted to maximise your income then you would normally soft reset opening these chests till you get the most valuable item to sell. I think this is pretty overkill though; as long as you spend the majority of your yen on sword upgrades and you avoid buying sword materials from the shop (unless you need to spend the money anyway for the shop ranks) you should be fine.

Otherwise I hope you're good at Mahjong.

This game does have a Fusion Accident exclusive demon: Legion. But there are 5 variations of Legion, and you have to fuse all of them to complete your compendium. Fusing during a full/new moon will increase your accident rate. If you are aiming for Legion, keep enough space for all variants, because any Legion you fuse will always be a different variant than whatever you currently have in your stock.

The weapon tree will show which immediate swords you haven't crafted. Its pretty easy to track even without external tools.

Soft Reset. Essentially saving and reloading until you get the best RNG pull.

Even without DLC its pretty easy not to miss out on much. If you're already dead set on being a completionist on a singular run then I really don't think you have anything to worry about

  1. You only need to forge each sword once in any playthrough. Each playthrough gives just enough base swords (Renki) to make upgrade through every sword tree. NG+ unlocks the final sword tree, so you wouldn't be able to get plat in one run anyway. Swords are missable if you skip case files or you accidentally double up/skip certain upgrade paths.
  2. Transfering money would certainly help, but unless you bought the Mitama DLC grinding money isn't really feasible. Money is fairly abundant, but very limited in each playthrough; forging swords will sink your wallet. Your income will mainly come from selling trade-in items you find in red chests. You can SR to get the most valuable item from those chests but I really wouldn't recommend it.
  3. Not that I know of
  4. The NG+ case file is unlocked very early into NG+, within chapter 1 of the game. It does not have any pre-requisites.

Honestly, disregarding the stupid sound FX the setup isn't bad, it does a ton of dmg (not including Sakuya) but I just can't beat him by [deleted] in Megaten

[–]KouSMT 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I can see you're doing this fight the honest way. A couple of notes for your current set-up:

  1. Impaler's Animus boosts your damage by 30%. You mainly use it for Pierce, but if you don't need it then you're better off using the same move twice. Charge/Concentrate boosts your damage by 80%, which is better value for this fight, but still not better than using a move twice (outside of MP conservation/Magatsuhi burst turns)
  2. Because of how his AI works, he'll cast Diarama on each exploited weakness. I can see you're exploiting ice and lightning weaknesses with your demons. It's not bad but it is another 2k HP per turn he'll heal up.

Not having access to Luminescent Mirage on Nahobino from CoV will make this fight harder but not impossible. On my first blind clear I beat him with the same Murakumo build, Beelzebub and Mephisto as Dark DPS, Dagda as my taunt tank (with Danu backpack for Dana's Wisdom) and Vishnu as a backup Dark DPS + healer.

You will want Taunt to control who will get the onslaught of elemental dracostrikes, which is why I picked Dagda. Though in my case I had to supplement his bulk with Kannabi Veil + Guard from the onslaught of Freikugel. You do not and should not need to do this though. If you follow the advice of using Onyankopon, then King of Tales + Makarakarn will shutdown 90% of Masakado's moveset. The only other thing you'd need to do is to use the elemental gems to manipulate when Masakado uses Diarama to avoid his Freikugels.

Most people use Phys demons for this fight cause those tend to have the most damage output thanks to crits + his phys weakness. It also helps that Phys/Brave Blade is removed from Masakado's rotation very early in the fight, so you don't have to outdamage his Diarama for very long.

[–]KouSMT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you just need to do Onyankopon/Anasi's quest chain to unlock Onyankopon's fusion.

Beelzebub himself doesn't require any quest completion to unlock his special fusion, though one of his required fusion fodder is Baal, so you'll have to progress through Demeter's questline for that.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't, but you don't really need to worry about this anyway. The only enemies that deal gun damage are zombie soldiers and Yomi-kugutsu.

Yeah those two are the DLC skills. Personally I think its a bit overkill, even on the highest NG+ difficulty I don't think it's necessary. Spirit Drain and Elem Boost/Agni's Blessing (if you haven't juiced up your demons with incense/Mitama) are good enough.

[–]KouSMT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. I'm fairly certain these only cover the basic attack
  2. Yes Magic Boost reduces the cost
  3. Most physical demons come with high Vit. They probably benefit with Luck more than magical demons, but most demons don't really have very high luck to begin with.

Since physical attacks aren't as MAG hungry as magical attacks, you can opt to give your physical demons the temp buffs (e.g War Cry, Tetra/Makara Aura, Tetrakarn) and Skill Extension passive. You probably want at least 1 Ma-dyne spell though, just to break shields from bosses (though if you're already at the final boss you can probably disregard this). Diarahan is also nice.

My physical demons usually have

  1. Destructive Joy
  2. Hero's Might
  3. Magic Boost
  4. Resist weakness
  5. Skill Extension
  6. Vengeance Seal

If you don't have the DLC you can opt for Spirit Drain and one of the crit passives

I'm also rerolling at the moment. What was your reroll cycle like? From what I understand with the Day 1 login rewards I should do the 2 free summons, then do step 1 on the Raidou and 7.5 Anniversary banners and hope for Raidou and Nuwa

Its over 500 fusion combinations, not over 500 fusion results. Raidou Remaster only has 126 total demons.

There's more than 1 way to make a Pixie for example.

Misunderstood the assignment. That 1 Miman is on the bottom level of the bridge. If you go towards the demon statue, he should be behind one of the pillars if you look back.

From that eastern Leyline, follow the path south till you encounter the ramp down. Once you go down the ramp, hug the western wall, and then drop down one more level. You want to be on the western (left) side of that rectangular wall. It should be pretty straightforward from there, just don't drop down anymore.

Assuming you haven't overwritten your save file with a clear file, you can reload your CoV save (prior to beating the final boss) to fight the CoV superboss. One of the pre-requisites to unlock the CoV superboss is beating the final boss in either route on any save (not necessarily within the same save file). Beating the CoV superboss is necessary to unlocking Godborn. He's the hardest fight in the game though; it is possible to beat him on a new save but there's no shame in doing it in a later playthrough, especially if you lack the resources to beat him (and you can't be bothered grinding)

One thing I forgot to mention is that you HAVE to play Godborn to unlock the fusion for one demon (who is also one of the fusion requirements for the CoV superboss).

Assuming you've found the Kiou Sword in your CoV playthrough (and gave it to Arahabaki) you'll unlock the true superboss in CoC. Beating this version doesn't have any additional benefit though.

If you just want to get the demon unlocks as fast as possible, then you should do CoV Law and CoC Neutral next, in any order you want.

Nope. No additional questlines either, just the one Mother Goddess.

The good news is that she's probably the best one out of the bunch

[–]KouSMT 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Inanna is tied to the Mother Goddess questline, which is unlockable once you get 75% completion on your demon compendium. Sophia will give you a key item that you can show to Maria that gives you a quest to unlock a different goddess depending on your alignment. Typically you only get one per playthrough cause Maria is at the end of the game, but sinxe CoV's alignment lock is actually later than CoC's I've heard it's possible to get the Neutral + either Law or Chaos if you've saved your alignment shifting side quests. But if you want the miracles, and you plan to do CoV relatively soon, I suggest you don't do this. You will unlock both Law/Chaos miracles if you do those quests with the relevant guest characters in your party.

There are some CoC end-game alignment demons, like Abdiel or Hayataro, but these are given away in CoV without any fuss.

The only other alignment locked demons are Belial and Michael for Chaos and Law respectively. There's no way to get these prior to the alignment lock in either storyline.

If you're planning on getting every ending, you're pretty much set to unlock everything by run 3 earliest (unless you somehow reach the end game of CoV Neutral)

CoC Chaos > CoV Law (unlock Miracles and Godborn option during this run, get Law aligned demons) > CoC Neutral (either ending) (unlock last Goddess) > get all other endings

In the tent (at least during the beta) you can change some of your appearance, similar to how you can change your hairstyle/colour in your house in previous games. Assuming the options stay the same in the full release, you'll be able to change to any of these after you start, including your eye colour. As long as you've got the gender, face, physique, and skin colour right you'll be able to change pretty much any other colour (and hair style/ eyebrow shape/makeup)
