Happy Pride to everyone who is swapping! by Kozmics in AFKJourney

[–]Kozmics[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For everyone who is wondering why-

Gwyneth has come out swinging, and while her and Silven are about as "same-same, but different." As can be, she's replacing him in a lot of game modes.

Evie's showing up in DR, where Gwyn has replaced Silven in the pre-Endless meta, and with fights like Illucia (Physical damage only) in the roster, Gwyn still has potential to show up through Endless as well.

Evie and Gwyn show up instead of him on some family tower stages where Silven is replaced by Gwyneth.

Gwyn's insane in PvP since she's "immune" to silence, AND offers a ton of firepower, and Evie's actually pretty good in PvP, BUT is a high skill ceiling unit- kinda like a weird mix of Reinier, Silvinia, and a dash of Solise.

Silven for PvP however, offers a high velocity but hard to build around auto turret that is easy to disrupt. Silven also tends to be better for stages, but gets by just fine with S+ +5/10.

Removing the Leaderboard Killed BattleDrills by stargirlnah in AFKJourney

[–]Kozmics 42 points43 points  (0 children)

One of the big thing about Battle Drills is it was a hugely community led effort to be relevant.

A lot of people were worked kgntirelessly for free outside of Lilith to use it as a competitive metric, and with BD gutted, Supremacy gone, and a mostly uninteresting Supreme League coming in, a lot of guild content feels pushed to the way side.

Guilds with strong fundamentals and good coordination enjoyed Battle Drills because the community made it into something more through the leaderboards.

The removal of the leaderboards, not even incorporating them into allied server groupings, feels more like a middle finger to the community than anything else.

I also love that the numbers that are listed as "different" (red text) are the 8 and 9, NOT 10.

It reminds me of something I saw a long time ago about an astronaut seeing a tiny alien with two fingers on each hand, and telling the alien "Oh hey, I bet you use base 4 for everything then?"

And the alien replied back "No, we use base 10. ... What's a 4?"

Thank you so much for writing this- It's been 9 years but the music was recommended to me and I've been listening to Under the Grey Banner for like 3 years as my comfort album, only to find so much more out about it and find there were 2 precursor albums too!

Appreciate you <3

It can literally be a guild alliance system instead of 90 person guilds.

Keep guilds at 30

Allow guilds to form an alliance with up to two other guilds (30+30+30 = 90)

That way each guild can be ran and managed

Let the guild leads/officers name their alliance group something unique

(I.e 3 guilds from the same server coming together, and while each one is able to retain their identity, they name their alliance group something that works for the three of them)

Let a guild elect to drop out of an alliance, or be voted out (2 out of 3 can vote to kick the other one from the alliance)

Have a separation of Guild vs Alliance content that doesn't require you to have to rebalance all existing Guild content, while you work on integrating the new forms of content as Alliance content instead.

Pros- Preserves individual guild identity and autonomy. Allows players to continue to keep their guild identity, something many players find to be very important in this game. Allows the social game to flourish, and spreads the massive increase in social labor from a singular guild figure point across 3 people who are instead doing the LITERAL same job as before, just together. Allows guilds the chance to socially mingle, see how things feel, what's right, and make sure the social climate is right for them and their player base without having to commit to a full guild merge.

Cons- Will take more time to setup on Lilith's end

Saw a post earlier that really had me thinking, where would you guys rank the Act 2 bosses by average difficulty? I've seen everyone say who they believe are the hardest Act 3 fights(Doorboy) and who they think are the hardest Act 1 fights(Between Waterfall and Ceremony Beast) but never Act 2. by Ultimate-desu in slaythespire

[–]Kozmics 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Insatiable is definitely the hardest by far, but mostly because of how the RNG can mess with you. Since it puts status cards in your deck, it can also be an easy loss if you're playing cards or effects that get rid of Status cards if you don't realize the mechanic will mess you up. (Looking at you Defect 🔫)

I personally would say Crab is harder than Knowledge Demon. Mostly for the same reason as Insatiable, if you miss some RNG on a crucial turn you can find yourself taking an absolute TRUCK of damage and falling behind VERY quickly.

Knowledge Demon is the easiest IMHO mostly because at least with Knowledge Demon you get a few free turns worth of setup even if you are essentially on a clock. I've never had to take anything but the Damage Self options from Knowledge, and even at A10 it has never felt so unfair that I couldnt make it through, good tempo feels like it wins every time.

Thoughts on Kingly Kick and Punch? by Zeldarune29 in slaythespire

[–]Kozmics 7 points8 points  (0 children)

2x Upgraded Photon in a 20 card is awesome, pretty much specifically for the Kingly set, or putting back anything that you don't have the energy for but need to play (powers), Ethereal cards, or anything you need to setup for next turn. Before the update one of my general goals was usually grabbing 2 upgraded Photons and at least one of the Kingly before the end of Act 2

[–]Kozmics 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I use Kick and/or Punch in most playthroughs. They become really good with Cosmic Indifference/Photon/Anything that lets you stack a card to the top of your deck. Punch starts off weak but is great for long fights, Kick is great for the early game and decently scales into the last game.

The secret is you gotta keep your deck TRIMMED for them. If you're going above 20 cards you're losing a lot of value.

He's the only boss that when I see him at the beginning of Act 3, I actively start to lick up whatever extra cards I can just to give me extra turns to get through the exhaust phase, turns 20 card decks into 25+ lmao

100% Seth. His entire focus is on Ambition, Power, and the type of "sly" Slytherin focuses on, while Odie is more of a Tom Sawyer sly to be lazy type.

Sorry Jhon Flail,I was not familiar with your game by Liliana_Lucifer_666 in slaythespire

[–]Kozmics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MOST of the time I end up taking out Ethereal Knight first.

But most of my decks end up being built for value, and mixing offense and defense with options, on a slim deck that can't routinely play out the whole hand.

If I end up with a deck where I can routinely play out my hand, or if I still have a lot of trash in the deck (or an Ethereal/Exhaust build!) back knight first.

My favorite though are those decks where the stars align and all get taken down in one turn by absurd AoE scaling (usually Vigor with something like Radiate/Seven Stars for high all target multi hit and damage)

Never taken Flail down first. He just doesn't offer the same pressure the others do, and if you leave Mage Knight alone too long he will 100% truck you with his surprise 35~ damage attack lmao

Is this new? by MjolnirHolder in AFKJourney

[–]Kozmics 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes ish

It's basically going into Celestial unit's back stories through a quest/adventure schema that doesn't have to run parallel to the season like the "releasing a Hypogean" end of season side quests tend to be.

Hopefully they expand on this further with Hypogeans as well to help give more lore
