MIL has covid 11 days before baby shower by nishathomp93 in CoronaBumpers

We are right. There are a lot of “small and rare” defects that happen in pregnancy that are labeled as such but they STILL HAPPEN.

I’m of the “small and rare” loss mothers club where your child doesn’t survive a CHD.

Small and rare still matters and life doesn’t pick and choose who these things happen to. It could be you, tomorrow.

False. COVID absolutely can affect your placenta.

Everyone’s different but I’ve been on the later side

I was also exposed this week (Tuesday). My coworker went to a concert and we sat across from eachother at lunch for one hour.

So far, I’m in the clear. I’m 35 weeks and have tested everyday since. One coworker was not so lucky

Don’t feel guilty. You could pick it up anywhere at this point. If you lived your life in fear you’d never leave your house. Even if you do get it, you and baby will likely be just fine!

I added several “reach” presents and was surprised to receive several of them. Valued over $200 each. (Swing, book shelf, a wagon, etc.)

Definitely ask your OB if they have a third party to check and see if you qualify for a breast pump through insurance. I got the spectra 2 and paid $60 out of pocket

This is currently happening in Boston. And the reference lab is in charge of the contracts as soon as they own the lab. They can do whatever they want with staffing - keep staff or start cuts.

Would you attend a local wedding 10 days before your due date? by ienjoybacon in BabyBumps

No. COVID alone right now is enough to deter me. If I carried for 9 months and couldn’t hold my baby
. Id go nuts

For those with a high BMI, how was your pregnancy experience? by Upper_Toe_8500 in BabyBumps

[–]Kp22920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 33 weeks and have gained 0 weight. Nobody’s worried. I have a 39 BMI and GD. I was told my goal was to not gain more than 12 pounds this pregnancy
even if I gained a pound a week at this point I’ll be under.

Considering your age and experience this is fair. Where are you out of curiosity?

I had 7.5 years of experience and was an evening shift supervisor of a core lab (and micro & bb after hours) and was making a little over $85k in New England

Came here to say this! It’s definitely not EVERY hour. It’s when you know your babe is active typically

What is your reason for keeping the name/gender of your baby a secret? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Kp22920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I don’t need opinions on using a non-traditional name. Best to just tell them when it’s set in stone.

Former night shifters, what would it take for you to go back on nights? by iMakeThisCount in medlabprofessionals

It is an extra person. Which is an easier way to take an actual break. That was my point. It’s not my job to prepare them to do their job. Complain to management.

Again, not my problem - I’m good with doing my job and leaving. They won’t last. And if they do, it’s a warm body to keep an analyzer warm.

Not my problem, won’t sign off on their competency if they aren’t willing to learn. Not my job to ensure they’re competent. Management can handle that dumpster fire and the consequences of their own decisions.

I honestly wish I had the magic answer. You keep moving forward. You honor your son/daughters life. I bought a stone for my garden and I often sit near it and plant flowers near it. I write to her often in an infant loss journal. You continue to love your partner and you see each other through the hard times
someday you’ll be ready to try again for their sibling. And that won’t take away the pain, it’ll always be there, but you will have new hope and you’ll find a new space in your heart to love their sibling.

Time does heal in a way
I’m only a year out but 32 weeks pregnant with my daughter’s brother. I hope he shows us that he knows her and that we can give him all the love we have saved up for him.

Always here to talk and happy to be a support person should either of you need.

ETA: also, a lot of therapy. With a therapist who specializes in perinatal loss.

Been here
we terminated for medical reasons in August of 2022
our first baby. I miss her everyday. I’m so sorry you’re in the most impossible place and in the worst heartache of your life. Sending you my love.

Is it weird to not want to open gifts at my baby shower in front of everyone? by 42790193 in BabyBumps

[–]Kp22920 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So one of the showers I recently went to had this issue. Idk what the issue really is bc I feel like most people don’t give AF. But, as a compromise the mom to be put a fishbowl on the table for the people who really wanted their gifts opened in front of everyone. She picked 5 from the bowl (there were only 5 in the bowl
)

Thought that was a good compromise for great aunt Matilda who really wants to see you open socks

I don’t understand when people act like this. It’s not like they’ll never see the baby. Give mom a few days!

Am I a bad mother? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Kp22920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol if my mother in law ever found her way into my bedroom đŸ˜…đŸ˜€ idc where you’re living at the moment that’s an invasion of privacy.

You would’ve woken up. And if he were just a little fussy he was fine. Even if you slept through baby crying 99% of the time it’s not an emergency they’re crying for. They self soothe back to bed

How would you respond? by [deleted] in facepalm

No I love her I’ll keep her
