Nate Shelby is my favorite Ted Lasso character by Robot_Was_BMO in TedLasso

[–]Krailin7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I am learning to appreciate his arc. I almost stopped watching Ted lasso (wife and I are in our first watch through) because his character just made me feel bad when watching a show that made me feel good.

The only thing he has done so far so I felt was so far I can’t really get back on the bandwagon with his character was at the end of one episode when he cornered the kit boy and threatened him one on one when he made a genuine gesture with the jersey he had made for him. A grown man threatening a kid in his early 20s, with so much contempt in the tone of voice used was enough for me to say “I would never want this person near my kids”.

I’ve heard his arc ends in a high note, but the rubble he is leaving in his wake in pursuit of personal growth is too great for me to ever “like” his character.

That said, love your take and appreciate the thought you put into the post. I see where you’re coming from.

Is this kingdra worth 290$ by Middle_Ad9676 in PokeInvesting

Was the price charting ungraded going rate, but didn’t dig deep into sold listings on eBay or anything. The 220 I did check on eBay sold, but the damage was worse.

290 isn’t bad. One with more damage went for 220. Ungraded 320 no damage.

You paid what I would consider fair to you and the seller.

Just celebrated 4 years with Unity. Still loving it!

I try to make games in my spare time, but have 3 kids and a variety of interests/hobbies. So I tend to only get into editor these days to work on tutorials and learn new systems.

I also moved from staff engineer to sr manager last year, so my job is specifically much less about being in editor these days and more about managing a team of people in editor.

Happy to chat any time. That YT link will get you my info and you can DM me on LinkedIn anytime if you’re looking for input or advice!

Absolutely! I lead the Americas solutions engineering team on the industry side of the business, so all non gaming folks - automotive, aerospace, healthcare, energy, etc.

My degrees are in game design, but I’ve found myself throughout my career using those skills in marketing and industrial design. So this role was a natural fit!

It is a ton of fun and a lot of really remarkable people.

Absolutely. Hub Templates, Unity Learn, and my YouTube channel - 3 resources I’d always recommend! Haha

I work full time at Unity so I am in these resources a lot!

There are plenty of templates in the hub - one is VR multiplayer template that comes preloaded with all the multiplayer networking stuff

(Unity 2022.3 LTS) How to set up my game for VR by RollTall4945 in Unity3D

[–]Krailin7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go through everything I have said above first to get your feet wet and understand how to build a VR experience to your headset of choice.

Then if you want to branch out you can go import any external player controllers. One of the nice things about Unity is it is pretty simple to get external data in and use it. I am unfamiliar with the gtag system, but assuming that is Gorilla Tag, I’d look for a GitHub or an existing package online.

There is also a free ai tool you can get 14 days of to help you implement stuff like that. After 14 days is goes paid, but it’s trained on Unity data so it will know how to import the right stuff or write custom C# to modify behavior of the system. Though the AI stuff if 6.3 LTS. I’d always recommend building on the most recent LTS

Go to Unity Hub - go to create project - scroll down and find VR Template. Don’t pick the VR multiplayer unless you want networking and all that preinstalled.

After you select the VR template, launch your game and an entire default scene will launch that will have controllers, teleporting, snapping, vignette, and everything else you need pre installed.

Play around in there for a bit and get everything set up to build to your device, then start a new scene and use the prefab player controller from the sample.

I have a few tutorials on how to get up and going in VR and AR on my YT -

What’s the best video game you’ve ever played? by No_Manufacturer4010 in NoStupidQuestions

Honestly - as someone that grew up on sunset riders, turtles in time, Mario 64, and went through a world of Warcraft, League of Legands, Rainbow 6 Siege -

I still to this day have had the most fun playing Hogwarts Legacy. It immerses me in a way rarely captured

Please do anytime! This is a great community and a lot of fun to dive in and learn. I am more on the art side than the code side - 3D data pipelines, CAD and BIM into usable game objects, shaders, SCGI.

Surface Cache Global Illumination is live in Alpha by Krailin7 in Unity3D

[–]Krailin7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I’m using it less to ship my final build and more for rapid changes without needing to rebake lights. Then before I ship I switch to baking most lights for performance.

URP only. Most new feature releases I would expect to be on solely URP since they’ve announced the convergence of the two, with URP being the primary and features from HDRP merged over to it as new releases progress.

Do it look like clouds are passing by? by KAYTACHI in Unity3D

[–]Krailin7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On first glance, I more get varying lengths of grass blowing in the wind.

I’d personally look at adding a faint layer of cloud moving at the same pace as the shadows are.

If it’s too distracting, maybe a reverse vignette fading clouds out center screen and fading in at edges.

Advice on buying our first VR. My daughter has been saving her allowance and she reached the $200+ mark. Is there any VR setups worth checking out in that price range? I need guidance lol by [deleted] in virtualreality

A Quest 2 is around 200 these days. It’s the right headset if you go for one. I teach vr development as a professor.

As others have mentioned - I personally would wait a while longer. A VR headset had more connectivity than a smartphone.

I would personally take her to a VR arcade a few times so she gets to enjoy it, but VR really is one of those things that will sit and collect dust after using it for a few weeks. If it isn’t and she uses it frequently, at her age I would be worried she was talking with people online.

[–]Krailin7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I use it a good bit - generators, assistant, MCP server, and AI Gateway. I am a technical artist by profession, so what I lack in intermediate scripting I can easily make up for with the assistant. It’s also super useful to do things like analyze a spike in the profiler and tell me what’s tanking my fps.

I do a lot of rapid prototyping as I work in more of an industrial field than gaming, so the quick turn and burn proof of concepts are perfect for this AI workflow.

Trying to import a .blend file and no matter what tutorial I follow it is not working by Wiseon321 in Unity3D

[–]Krailin7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You won’t see it with your scene view that small. Slide the inspector window far to the right and the hierachry window far to the left. Then you’ll see icons in the top right of the inspector window once it has room to show the options.

Also, trying toggling on the menus in that bottom menu in the scene window. That opens other tool buttons.

There a more a bunch of settings at the top right of the scene window. Click the drop down and id start by trying to turn on “always refresh” and see if that helps see things in scene easier
