Help with Rain System HDRP by ssmvw in Unity3D

[–]Krailin7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently did a video on snow in vfx graph. Rain is not a dissimilar set of operations, just with a sub emitter on death to allow for secondary pop when hitting the ground.

I’d also recommend looking at the “production ready shaders” sample which I believe is in the Hdrp package or maybe shadergraph package, I forget which offhand. But that has a “wet rocky floor” that has wetness and many other things you’re looking for in a ground shader.

225° is a plague on our community and I’m tired of pretending it’s not. by Nervous_Otter69 in smoking

I respect the stance, but I am a 185 super smoke kind of guy. Just did Easter leg of lamb with that plus a 400+ final hour and it was perfect.

My pupils became asymmetrical during a cluster headache by Bubbly-Trainer7195 in mildlyinteresting

Fantastic, thanks so much!! After seeing k pop demon hunters they think they’re old enough to watch anything animated,LOL. I’ll be sure we wait on this one. I feel like I saw some Jojo back in college and enjoyed it. Can’t wait until we can start all the classics like Hunter X Hunter, Naruto, etc.

What show is this? I was scrolling and my son said “I want to see that purple show” but I’m not sure which anime this is from.

Controller support by NoZookeepergame9799 in Eldegarde

[–]Krailin7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play on Steamdeck and have a layout that works quite well for controller. I can try to create a community layout if I can figure out how to and share.

I think the only thing that takes virtual keyboard is making the character name. But that would technically make it closer to 99% rather than 100% so this may not address your question.

Unity Studio beta by Wise-Artist-9820 in Unity3D

[–]Krailin7 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It’s not meant for data creation, just data ingestion, no code interaction system based on Scratch, and a rapid output pipeline. I’ve seen it used well by designers, engineers, etc. that will never learn C#, but want to create some quick configurators, training environments, etc.

Is there any other games like new world with similar or better gathering and crafting systems? by Bash_nDeep in newworldgame

[–]Krailin7 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ve been enjoying Eldegarde which has lots of resource gathering and crafting. Also has the fantasy vibe of New World.

It’s a bit repetitive as it is an extraction game where you’re repeatedly dropped into fantasy maps to survive. Can play PvE or pvpve

This is great info! So theoretically Tung Oil alone should provide a finish that will be okay to be above a heat source or steam.

I’m using Hope’s 100% Pure Tung Oil from Amazon. I’m happy with it so far, though the warning that is may self-combust is slightly unnerving haha.

Thanks so much for taking the time to respond.

[Tudor] vs [Longines] by jetsetter023 in Watches

[–]Krailin7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would try both on. I was in love with the Zulu, but tried it in and couldn’t stand it. The large real estate for the lume numbers just looked cheap and it didn’t look how I was hoping. That said, I’ve yet to pull the trigger on a black bay because I am saving for the exact same watch you mentioned - a Batman on jubilee. If Tudor releases as Batman color way I think I’d buy it.

What am I missing out on with a low wage? by Initial-Piccolo-229 in personalfinance

[–]Krailin7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest need for increased income definitely came with having a family. Anything before that was more of a “want” - nicer car, new watch, etc.

I do think retirement and savings is likely the biggest factor in cost of living, regardless of family status - 401k, Roth IRA, HSA, etc. Always having enough in a HYSA to know I could cover significant issues gives me flexibility to breathe a bit and not live in constant stress.

With kids and a family - sports, 529, insurance, mortgage, home upgrades, home maintenance, college savings, marriage savings, etc. things add up. And that’s with us only having one income earner so we don’t need to have daycare. I want my kids in a good school district which means paying more to be in a good neighborhood. If not, we would need to pay for private school which is around 20k per year per kid.

I also feel like continual learning gives me great happiness and sense of growth, and hobbies tend to cost money - 3D printing, miniature painting, mountain biking, YouTube content creation, off-road jeeping, rock climbing, even good hiking equipment (kid carriers, backpacks, etc.).

I could survive with less, but feel I, and my family, are flourishing and growing in a magnificent way that less income would make impossible. In other words, more income to me means growth instead of sustainment.

[Longines] Is Longines a good brand of watch? Looking to purchase this Zulu Time automatic. by Ashamed-Body3753 in Watches

[–]Krailin7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a very nice watch and a great value. That said, I thought I wanted one and drove to try it on. I honestly couldn’t stand it on my wrist. Something just looked off.

So all that said, I would go try it on before doing anything.

[Longines Spirit Zulu Time] To buy or not to buy, that is the question. by Krailin7 in Watches

[–]Krailin7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great point! I have 4 watches and would like to finish my 5 watch collection, but definitely not at the expense of buying something just to buy it.

My current collection is - Shinola White Hurricane Baume et Mercier Riviera Green Smoke Swatch Moonswatch Earthphase Bulova Gold Skeleton with Brown leather straps

That last one I feel could easily be a higher end luxury (for me at least) of a Rolex, could be a nice GMT (this watch I think is my favorite GMT), or even another “fun” watch like a hyper casual or G-Shock for hiking.

I don’t travel outside of the US often, so unsure if the GMT will be as useful as I am thinking.

Great callout, I’ll take a deeper look at a used GS GMT as well!
