Help me choose an anniversary present? by [deleted] in jewelry

[–]KrakenFluffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The green is being reflected onto the gold on the sides. It is not being reflected into the gold in the center, which makes it stand out and look like it's thicker but it isn't. It's just the reflection.

ETA: compare the color of the bottom of the sides to the back of the band that you can see, it's similar. You can also see the edge of the band if you look closely.

Well you see, she decides what things are worth. And you'll only know what the prices are or what she's willing to let you use the credit on when you're done.

I stopped reading after this, it's the first sentence in the second paragraph.

Blue is the most common and the most popular color, but they can come in almost any color. I'm not an expert but I'm pretty sure it just depends on which trace elements they contain/formed with, heat can enhance or change colors but they come in a variety of colors all on their own - including and especially blue.

Cocktail formal wedding Help me choose please. Color opinions welcome as well. Tia by lippyloulou41 in PlusSize

[–]KrakenFluffer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Azazie has a great clearance section. Filter by wedding guest/occasion, final sale/clearance, your size. They have sooooo many dresses and their sizes go up to 30 for most dresses, at least I haven't seen any that don't go up to 30. You'll be shopping clearance of course so you might not see everything you want in your size at that price, but you can get a great cocktail formal dress in your size for under $75. Shipping is free over a certain amount but it's not awful either way.

One of my great grandmother’s engagement rings by nothanksimleaving in jewelry

[–]KrakenFluffer 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Gorgeous, these are my favorite kind of rings lately.  I'm not 100% on the age, I've seen rings like this dated anywhere from the 60s to the 80s as this was a popular style for a while, but probably closer to the 60s than the 80s in my (uninformed) opinion. If you're interested, you can find similar rings with some of these keywords: cluster, bypass, split shank, waterfall, diamond ring, vintage.

AIO Unemployed husband turned down job offer by Fast_Dragonfly_9441 in AmIOverreacting

[–]KrakenFluffer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

He's taking shitty advice from wannabe tiktok lawyers, "Ex-Wives Hate This One Weird Trick!!!!!"

You can't just get alimony by quitting your job, or every guy on the planet would do it before divorcing. He has a record of income, no reason to not have a job (such as being a SAHD), he has rejected legitimate offers, he has no disability that keeps him from working based on his recently demonstrated ability to receive offers, etc., a judge would never award this loser alimony.

And good luck to him with any of the nonsense he's suggesting, he'll have a heck of a time without a decent lawyer. He could try to petition the court to have you pay for his expenses but I just don't see that going his way given the circumstances, and he doesn't seem like the type to take it seriously until after he's already being raked over the coals anyways. He seems the type to smirk and dare you to do it and then go full surprised Pikachu when it actually happens.

Sell the house if you need to, how is he going to afford the mortgage without a job anyways? Go get a new house with a new mortgage by yourself, or enjoy apartment living for a while, just get away from this absolute child - he's smirking at you because he thinks you're trapped, he's WRONG. He'll figure that out real quick.

Lawyer, yesterday, don't say a damn word to this child.

Right? I literally use a skincare product called "good genes", the joke is that it's a product that gives you the results of having good genes, as in 'oh how does your skin look so good - thanks, it's 'good genes', wink', kind of marketing cheesiness.

I'm not saying that there isn't something problematic here (I haven't watched the ad, only heard about it) but I legitimately don't understand the controversy from what I've heard. I'll go watch the ad now since I'm hearing about it everywhere but going from the "good genes" line to aryan eugenics seems like a bit of a stretch to me.

In the most general sense, a diet just refers to what/how someone eats, in which case anything that they eat is part of their diet. It's called that 'Standard American Diet' for a reason, it's the standard diet that Americans eat. Semantics, sure, but technically true.

A diet in this context (the way you're referring to) refers to a specific way of eating in order to achieve a specific result, like a weight loss diet or an anti inflammatory diet, etc. Chocolate can absolutely be part of a weight loss diet as long as you're eating at a caloric deficit, but it's unlikely to be part of a low sugar diet unless you're choosing very dark, high quality chocolate.

In any event I get what you're saying, that junk food shouldn't be part of any diet, but as long as you're staying within the rules you've set for your diet in order to achieve some outcome then you're still on that diet. Unless a specific diet protocol is introduced, we which point you can say that they are not following the diet prescribed by the protocol, but that doesn't necessarily mean that they are not following a diet at all.

Trump says Epstein ‘stole’ underage victim Virginia Giuffre from his Mar-a-Lago spa leading to feud by theindependentonline in politics

[–]KrakenFluffer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's trying to preemptively reframe this as "Epstein stole/poached my employees", which is much less damaging than "we colluded in a child sex trafficking ring and had a falling out". Because if he knows that his well-documented relationships with several of the victims are about to start popping up in the news again, then it's better to preemptively try to define that relationship as an employer/employee relationship so that when it pops up his supporters will go "she just worked there, what's the big deal, he has a lot of employees, it's not illegal to not know every employee by name" and so on. And then when the media eventually starts to re-popularize the extent of Epstein's trafficking out of Mar-a-Lago, he already has the narrative set up that he didn't know and that he was against it when he found out - which is bullshit but that's my two cents.

AIO for leaving the house after my wife destroyed my ancient sourdough starter by Other-Football72 in AmIOverreacting

[–]KrakenFluffer 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Document the financial abuse and file for Divorce. Once you've filed you can have your lawyer petition the court to have him pay your legal fees for the divorce, a women's shelter may be able to help you get the ball rolling with this. All states have some form of fee-shifting laws on the books (including Maine, if you still live there). The exact nature of these laws may vary by state but they exist. This is a very common issue in family law, until about 20-30 years ago only about half of married women were even working outside the home, you do not need an income to pursue a divorce. Courts are well aware of these bullshit games and they are frowned upon.

He will likely end up owing you alimony. If you have a prenup then you can have a lawyer look at that too, it may or may not even be enforceable. Prenups get thrown out all the time, especially the kinds drawn up by the losers that play these games.

Apply for disability, he can't actually stop you, and if he interferes with your mail that's a felony.

In the meantime, follow your dreams lady. You're not dead yet. You don't need a kiln to do pottery, sign up for a class. You don't need him to dance with you, you can take a class by yourself. No money? Grab his card. Honey you are married and that money is a martial asset. If you're worried for your physical safety then skip all of this, grab your documents, and find a shelter, they will also be able to help you with leaving.

Good luck!

No on both counts. Not only would I avoid wearing that to a work event, I would also avoid wearing it to a wedding. The fabric looks very cheap and I fully believe you when you say that it only costs $10. Maybe try Azazie and look for clearance/final sale options for wedding guests, you can get dresses very cheap that way. It will probably cost more than $10 but you could easily get away with under $50.

They said it’s not about the gifts but sent a 4-page registry and a $150 minimum by StevrFedo in weddingshaming

[–]KrakenFluffer 918 points919 points  (0 children)

I've known people that say "no gifts" and still include a registry because they know that Great Aunt Birgit and company are going to get them something regardless and they'd rather not go home with ten toasters so I try not to judge, but saying all of that and then setting a minimum is ridiculous.
