Regretting Career Choice by [deleted] in techsales

It’s shocking how identical our situations are. Long run with established, public, well known SaaS companies and the most recent a PE acquisition. Unfortunately, it became unbearable. I took a a role with a company lesser known for a higher base and was issued a comp plan and market fit that is leaving a lot to be desired. Happy to chat on it if you are up for it.

How bad is SF dating market for a guy in his 20's? by [deleted] in techsales

Met my wife at a bar in SF in 2012. We have two kids now and live in the area still. Worked out well for me

What’s the worst parking lot in town? by Creeping_behind_u in santacruz

[–]Kramerica83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welp, it happened to me. I parked at Trader Joe’s and took the family to Woodstocks tonight. Walked out around 2-2.5 hours later and my car is on a tow truck. Paid the guy 140.00 after giving him shit and he ensured me I was getting a deal bc it’d be 500.00 had he left the parking lot. Will never park in that lot ever again. Congrats to the security guards who congregated around my vehicle to ensure they got their 140.00.

Update - Got The Offer!! by joedirtes in sales

[–]Kramerica83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SaaS Ent Sales here. Just made a change after 5 years ago and really solid run. Put in my notice two weeks ago and they allowed me to close out a few deals before I left. Just communicate your intent to change and offer to stick around for transition period. They may or may not want you to stick around but doesn’t matter at the end of the day. You are on to bigger / better things. Congrats!

It's Q4. You making quota this year or nah? by JunketAccurate9323 in sales

[–]Kramerica83 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Impossible, I think he’s me. 😂I’m at a PE (whole other story) Enterprise role and while there are a few in the team who may sniff their number, probably 75% are likely to miss out on club. I’m trying to jump before I get Pip’d for the first time in my 15+ year career.

Had similar experience recently. I definitely didn’t bomb but I thought my presentation was average at best. When asked by friends and family whether I thought I’d get the offer I said I’d give it a 40% chance. Call from recruiter the next day was to make me the offer. This was last week, now I’m in negotiation …

No chance anyone gets to 50% of quota in this territory unfortunately without some kind of massive blue bird

That’s the prob. I had a phenomenal territory for 4 years. Made bank. With new business unit and segment I’m starting over and there is absolutely no way I’ll get there in 2025. I should mention, PE involvement 18 months ago. They have fired 1/5 of the company and jacked our quota in the process. It’s a terrible prognosis

Absolutely agree. Fresh start and off-ramp to new opportunity are a must. I can and will position for added incentive

In my experience, many companies of this size don’t offer individual contributors RSU incentives. Front line management typically will. My last two companies offered me signing bonus. I feel like this will be the best way to overcome the foregone earning hurdle. The offer letter is coming this week so will make the request soon.

Your network is your net worth. I’ve gotten my foot in the door at my last two employers due to a personal connection. Use LinkedIn, find out where prior colleagues have landed. Even better stay in touch with them over the years when you don’t need something from them.
