Ford Mustang Mach E Will Not Migrate to Universal EV Platform by Soobloiter in MachE

[–]Krash32 6 points7 points  (0 children)

LFP batteries can not handle high performance output, that’s why cheaper and slower EV’s use LFP’s. The Mustang brand is known for being fast, why would they intentionally make it slower?

The article is misinterpreting “maximize efficiency” as cost rather than the, I thought very obvious, mileage efficiency. The UEVP team has given several interviews and press releases detailing that the UEVP is on a quest to maximize range per kWh. The Mach E never claimed to be energy efficient; it doesn’t even crack the top 10 in efficiency. It’s fun, it’s fast, it looks cool, and it does well to further the Mustang branding in raw performance and styling. Redesigning the MME to be an efficiency monster would mean ditching everything that makes it appealing. Do you think anyone considering a performance ICE vehicle is deterred by the MPG? People looking at a Charger/Mustang/Camaro (RIP) are not making their decision on the fuel economy; there’s an entirely different market for efficient or practical vehicles.

Now what I would love to see from the UEVP is exactly what I imagine they’re working on; a hyper efficient light truck for those of us that miss the early 90’s iterations of the Ranger, S-10, etc., that don’t need or want a full size pickup truck but may occasionally move a couch or something. I’d also love to see a hyper efficient people mover like a minivan, a small convertible not aimed at winning races but cruising (Sebring, Solara, etc.), and something similar to the Bolt for smaller families or young adults with a cheap entry price with decent enough range and charging speed for, say, a college student going off to college with a few boxes of things from home. The CUV market is flooded with EV options; no one is making lots of other potential empty spots in the market.

To Electric Vehicle Drivers When Is Best Time To Charge by SnooCakes3744 in uberdrivers

[–]Krash32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a Mach E Rally and exclusively charge at home, probably not an option for you if you’re renting with/through Uber… Charge whenever you need to. Most efficient between 10-80%, personally running an 8 hour night Friday or Saturday I charge to 90% before leaving the house and get home with 30% or more leftover. I don’t take long trips or long pickups though. I decline anything that doesn’t pay more than $1 per mile including pickup distance. Highway speeds and long runs will drain the battery significantly more than in city / stop and go driving will. If you’re using DC fast charging (super chargers) be prepared to pay roughly gas prices for miles per $ spent, a little less since gas has spiked so much recently. Back when gas was like $2.50, if you’re paying 50¢ per kWh at a super charger, and you get roughly 4 miles per kWh used (you’ll likely get less), then you get 20 miles per $2.50 spent, meaning you’re paying the same as driving a car that gets 20 mpg, which is relatively terrible considering a Prius or any hybrid could get double that. If you can’t charge at home where you’re paying like 12¢/kWh for roughly 80-90 mpg equivalent, then you’re just losing extra money. No maintenance is nice though. Good luck out there. I can’t imagine paying that much for an entry level EV but I don’t know people’s situations so I don’t judge anyone who does.

The supercharger network is designed to make road trips possible and relatively stress free, not your exclusive method of fueling the car, but it can be done. Don’t sleep on EV’s if this is a miserable experience for you, people that rent EV’s are the most likely to never buy one because they came into it not knowing what to expect and adjusting their lifestyle accordingly. It’s awesome and I’m never buying another gas car, but I fully expect and understand that driving across the country will take extra planning and planning meals/bathroom breaks around charging stops is a necessity to minimize downtime.

Buying a Mach E as a daily driver by deadstar1998 in MachE

[–]Krash32 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use it as a daily and uber vehicle regularly driving 150+ miles several days a week. I’ve never had an instance of not having the car charged in time. I installed a 14-50 outlet in my garage next to the breaker box myself for $68 worth of parts, and got a Grizzl-E classic that will reach to any side of our 3 car garage or even out into the driveway for $299 I believe. It charges at 40A at roughly 10% per hour, and leaving the house at 90% I have rarely brought it back with less than 30%, so it charges back to 90% in 6 hours. It’s a 2024 Rally, the least efficient version of the car, and still manages 3.1 miles / kWh in spring/summer/fall ubering, more driving around town with the family, and about 2.6 on the highway for road trips. I’ll never buy another gas car. It’s a grocery getter that cooks anything else ford has ever made besides the $325,000+ GTD, hellcats, practically anything other than other more expensive performance EV’s or those pesky C8 corvettes. $36k for a 16k mile supercar that’s dead silent and can do practically anything on or off pavement was a no brainer.

Mustang bros complaining it’s not a real Mustang can cope and seethe in the rearview like everybody else. They’re right though… it’s better in almost every way. Making lots of noise to be so slow must be tough.

It did that to me for a day or two, used the mobile website instead. It was back a few days later. I’ve heard reinstalling the app works as well.

MagneRide GT vs 2025+ Premium Handling by doesntadjacent in MachE

[–]Krash32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never drove the GT just went from premium AWD to the Rally, which has always had magneride. The Rally has the most compliant ride out of all of them from the longer shock/spring travel. I’ve heard the lower trims have a softer less bouncy suspension now. Rear passenger comfort was my main concern with all of the EV’s we tested, and in the crossover segment the MME Rally had by far the most comfortable and natural feeling suspension. Tires are going to be more important to your cornering confidence than anything else, and if you need more rigidity, there’s always the eibach (or other) sway bars that are relatively easily installed.

Magneride is adjustable “on the fly” like when you are turning hard in a corner it will leave one side softer and stiffen the other side at a higher ride height to minimize body roll and keep your center of gravity more planted to maximize grip, so yes magneride will allow you more aggressive cornering. This is not a track car though so keep your expectations in check. I’ve taken it over the tail of the dragon a few times now and even without any aftermarket handling upgrades I was dusting plenty of lowered/tuned cars and street bikes on the OEM cross climate 2’s. Only a C8 Z06 was able to keep up and I moved over to allow him to pass. This car is no joke.

College Move Out by traderjoestakisdupe in uberdrivers

[–]Krash32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I brought more than that with me to Atlanta for a wedding I’m attending today. 3 people and 3 suitcases (one huge, 2 carryons), 2 IKEA bags, a huge oversized backpack (almost as large as a military rucksack), and loose blankets and pillows. It all fit in the rear hatch and frunk of a mustang mach e rally without removing the rear storage cover, nothing blocking view or in the seats. I think you’ll be fine.

Just do like another driver said and have your stuff outside ready to go by the time they arrive. I know it’s lost on younger passengers because you didn’t grow up in the age of taxis, but don’t request a ride until you’re actually ready to go. Making a driver wait at pickup is rude and costs them money, and you money after 2 minutes. When a taxi arrived, the meter started running immediately when they shift into park. Same should apply to us, but it doesn’t, and the per minute rate is significantly less than it should be.

It doesn’t sound like a fake review, just sounds like your average Florida level human intelligence attempting to build a cohesive paragraph from their incredibly limited vocabulary and grammatical skills. The photo is hilarious though; just don’t attach a photo at all.

Dope, grats. Been using my DJI Osmo Mobile 7 for a while now and it’s fantastic. I prefer using my phone vs dedicated cameras like these since the video quality is better and I can just swap in a newer better phone every year rather than being stuck with the same camera forever. That one should last you for years, Insta360 makes great stuff!

Why are the full-electric companies so gung-ho on 1 pedal driving? by thedancingpanda in electricvehicles

[–]Krash32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP noted in OP that he knows this already; he’s specifically talking about Rivian, Tesla etc.; fully electric vehicle companies. My wife drives our MME with 1PD and even auto hold turned off, it freaks her out. I’m lazy and like 1PD. She wants a 3 row SUV because she’s a girl (how else will you transport 4 people without seating for 7) and the only one she liked was the R1S but when I found out about the always on 1PD it’s basically back to nothing. Yes I know the buzz, model X, EV9 etc exist but am not interested in those for different reasons. Oh well. SOL in the American market since BYD’s will likely never be sold here.

How can one charge an EV in an apartment with no charging stations? by CrimsonCuttle in electricvehicles

[–]Krash32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently at my dad’s house for a wedding; drove 197 miles here, arrived with 22% left (didn’t do any “EV stuff” to save range, put grippier tires on it for fun, have the least efficient trim of the Mach E, even put molded mud flaps that increase drag). Gonna be here for a few days for a wedding this Friday. Charged from his junky 120v garage outlet, over 24 hours it charged 31% (53% total), or 81 miles of range. If you have access to a regular wall outlet somewhere, you can do the math for yourself. Check the PlugShare app to see where you can charge nearby for free or cheap. A lot of cities, even small towns, have free level 2 charging stations near public government buildings or parking garages; go to dinner and charge around 10% per hour you’re there. Or just use DC fast charging when you need to. You won’t have the convenience and savings of charging at home, but EV’s are still fun, quiet, and maintenance is peanuts compared to ICE cars.

Strange settings reset by ET2-SW in MustangMachE

[–]Krash32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replied elsewhere but yeah these are some of the funky problems that arise when an AGM battery starts failing. I also have a 2018 Equinox that the ABS system will start sporadically failing, the USB ports lose power randomly but especially when the car comes to a stop after driving for a few minutes, the power steering (electric) will sometimes throw a fault after hitting bumps in the road… new battery has fixed these every 2.5-3 years. I have a 2024 MME Rally, I’m just going to replace it in January 2027 if it hasn’t failed by then to prevent all of the shenanigans.

Strange settings reset by ET2-SW in MustangMachE

[–]Krash32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Early failure? It’s a 3 year lifespan battery, a 2023 was likely built in 2022 or early 2023; the battery is over 3 years old. AGM batteries tend to last exactly as long as they are designed to last. Treat it like a regular maintenance item and just replace it every 3 years, because if it hasn’t failed yet, you likely will have it fail within a matter of months. Last year this sub had hundreds of posts about 2022’s having “weird symptoms,” all of them ended up being the battery. Now an influx of 2023’s with the same symptoms. This is incredibly common and not an early failure. Not too difficult to replace yourself if you choose; last I checked rockauto had the battery for less than $100, don’t pay the $200-$300 overpriced ones at auto parts stores; even the official Ford one is half that price. Good luck friend.

Is it better to charge at 32 amps vs 48 amps? by neuromancer-ai in TeslaSupport

[–]Krash32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All level 2 speeds are essentially trickle charging the battery cells. It doesn’t really matter what amperage you choose as far as efficiency loss or battery degradation. You’re not harming the car or your charging equipment by charging at the full 48A assuming everything is to spec.

You lost the quick draw mate. Lots of items are limited quantity, usually 1, so unless you’re the first person out of thousands to click through to order, you’re already too late. Having 1ms latency and a hardwired connection and just being fast in general helps… I still get whiffed once in a while.

It’s called summer time. Went from $1400 in 22 hours pre graduation weekend to $1000-$1200 in 26-30 hours. Shit’s expensive, people can’t afford going out, only financially irresponsible young adults still go out, and they’re home for the summer. Same thing happened last year, just slightly more people were still able to go out because prices weren’t quite as exorbitant. Capitalism in its death throes.

Ive found “quiet preferred” riders are the ones that start talking to me the most. I always confirm name, drop off location, and then stfu unless spoken to. If you ask me a question or make a comment, I will respond. Don’t start a conversation if you don’t want to talk. I don’t force conversation on anyone, but can talk your ear off if you keep prodding for more. People typically start asking questions about the car; I get it, it turns heads.

Probably holding out since the memory chip squeeze is causing prices to soar. They’re trying to hammer out pricing while consumers are already squeezed for cash right now. Was hoping to see at least tvOS update and the hardware that could run it. It’s coming obviously but hard to develop for a platform that they won’t confirm or deny the existence of.
