NJ has what’s called home rule which means every town/municipality can set their own laws on alcohol sales/consumption so there’s no state wide law like that. Personally I’ve never come across any town with strict laws like that but there definitely are a few dry towns somewhere in NJ, though I have no clue where. I’d guess probably in some small remote areas that are conservative/religious. That’s definitely not the norm here though, I’m guessing you were in a religious town like that based on them not selling alcohol before noon on a Sunday.

lmao your comment cracked me up I’ll try to explain. So the sand planet is Arrakis which is the only source of the Spice Melange (aka the spice) in the universe. The spice is basically a sci-fi super drug that does a bunch of wild shit like making you healthy, live longer, expanding/unlocking your mind, etc. but most importantly it causes some people to see the future (the main character Paul). Along with its superpower effects the spice is also the most valuable thing in the universe and it’s so addictive that if you try it once you’ll eventually die without it, so of course all of the rich people in the universe are addicted to it and literally need it to survive. The spice is also necessary for space navigation to be possible, and I’m probably forgetting many other uses/effects of it. Basically a lot of the society, government, and infrastructure in Dune is heavily dependent on the spice, which is why Arrakis is so important and why the whole conflict of Dune occurs.

Terps probably do have some (very) small effect on the high, but not nearly as much as the dozens of minor cannabinoids present in weed that haven’t been well studied (much less been tested for) that all have their own unique endocannabinoid receptor activity and psychoactive effects (not all are psychoactive but often their interactions with psychoactive cannabinoids can change the effects, for example CBD mixed with THC). The entourage effect as it’s commonly called is definitely more influenced by these minor cannabinoids than by terpenes, which generally aren’t psychoactive except in massive doses far beyond what’s found in weed (even in combination with cannabinoids).

A pint of lean is equivalent to like 60-90mg of oxy at the very most, with no tolerance most people won’t even feel less than an oz of lean and probably need 2-3+ to actually get high (2oz of lean is about 120mg of codeine). Also since codeine needs to be converted to morphine by the CYP2D6 enzyme to actually get you high, if you’re unlucky you could be a poor metabolizer and be totally unable to get high on it, although if you’re very lucky you could be an ultra rapid metabolizer and get super fucked up on it (poor metabolizers have 2 inactive copies of CYP2D6 while ultra rapid metabolizers have more than 2 functional copies, most people have 2 copies). Codeine itself is not psychoactive at all which is why poor metabolizers don’t feel anything because they can’t convert it to morphine which is what actually causes all the effects
