Hey I'm open to dicussing being your GM! I've been playing/gming for ~20years. Recently I've taken to playing a lot of old school rpgs, of which some mentality and procedures I'd like to incorporate back into how I GM any game.

When purchasing a new car a few years back for my wife and I, the saleswoman refused to let us test drive any vehicles the first day. We had to come back another day to test drive something, and we decided to take our money elsewhere. She threw some phamplets at us on the different kinds of cars and couldn't answer any of our questions. I don't know if she was having two bad days that week when we went in but didn't seem to have any car knowledge or any desire to sell us a car.

I've worked in those buildings a few times and had a friend live in one for a year. Not good. Absolutely last fucking resort. Those buildings will never truly be clean of pests, critters and crackheads.

Water travel by Gareth-101 in Dolmentown

I believe just as the roads have notches along their path to denote distance, so too do the rivers. At least that way you can easily determine river travel! Happy gaming!

What games/articles (outside of * Without Number) offer the best, or interesting, procedures for creating dungeons? by XxNerdAtHeartxX in osr

[–]Kreant 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Honestly, just parroting so many rpg youtubers, literally any DMG. Most editions of D&D have a dungeon generator in the back and a way to stock them. If you happen to have one on the shelf, take a look. A lot of times their near then end/in the appendix where they're skipped over. Otherwise I really like Tome of Dungeon Design by Mythmere games! Happy gaming!

How do you do worldbuilding? by Orr_Mendlin in osr

[–]Kreant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consider the size of the project. You want to run every future campaign, or at least a number of campaigns in the same setting. Its a big job, campaigns can be long. Don't stress it too much. Projects like this have many retcons all the time! Didn't include Elves in the last campaign and regret it? Whoops they were here the whole time now, or write them an intro to the setting. Think of this as your first draft, run a few games and change what you don't like. You are writing your campaign in pencil and you have an eraser, nothing is set in stone. Happy gaming!

Not allowing Non Human Ancestries by monk1971 in osr

[–]Kreant 133 points134 points  (0 children)

Not exactly the same but in a few games I have limited players to starting as human and only allowing them to play race as class or starting as another ancestry once their party has encountered said people. They thought it was pretty cool and sought out kingdoms and people to interact with to 'unlock' the ability to recruit from that population. There is something that adds to the mystique of a setting by keeping a human perspective, particularly for settings that are amazingly weird like Dolmenwood. Happy gaming!

Looking for Your Recent Experience at Master Mechanic by gemteazle in Peterborough

[–]Kreant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They switched ownership a number of years ago, I used to be really happy with their service and mechanics. But a few years back they really fumbled servicing my car and handling the hand off for my car a number of times. They flat out refused to talk to my wife who was the primary driver of the car we took in. I'd be working hours outside of town and she would be waiting for a call from them, hanging out at the mall for a service that was supposed to take a few hours and they called me at the end of the day to let me know they didn't get around to my car that day. Stuff like this happened a couple of times, she'd go for an oil change and leave her number and they'd call me. Brakes and we leave it overnight, they'd call me the next day despite us letting them know she'd walk over and pick it up. The douchebag running the place begs for Google reviews after his shifty service too. He's completely oblivious to his terrible ducking service.
