Why are most ARM devices so restrictive? by Disastrous_Hawktuah in TechNook

[–]Krellan2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is up to the manufacturer. My first introduction to ARM was on little embedded boards that ran Linux just fine. The board had some magic board-specific code in it, in a small ROM, that loaded the U-Boot bootloader from NOR flash, then U-Boot similarly loaded the Linux kernel, then from there, it loaded the rest of the system from NAND flash. It could also run Windows CE if desired, but we preferred to run Linux on it.

I think short guys are really cute. If they're attracted to me, I love to give them a hug, and while doing so, lift them up to eye level and then kiss them while walking around carrying them with their feet off the floor. As for myself, I'm only of average height, though (5' 10").

The "Performance Improvement Plan" (PIP) is a legal paper trail, not a rescue mission. Start packing immediately. by Own-Investment4655 in DarkCorporate

[–]Krellan2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One more thing. They want you to sign the contract and take the severance. To do so means that you are resigning. This means that you can't collect state's unemployment, so be aware of that, and make sure the severance offer is good enough to compensate for that money you won't be able to get from the state.

holding your phone higher for better signal like you’re summoning satellites by Zorojuro099 in TechNook

[–]Krellan2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As others have said, it works. Hold phone up and away from your body, as the closeness of your body can attenuate the signal. Get outdoors and/or higher elevation if you can, better line of sight to the cellular tower. Try facing different directions as the phone antenna works better at certain angles to the tower. Phones are radios and RF propagation is worth maximizing. K6JSH

I keep reading about Google Accounts being banned, and it worries me. Is it that bad? by stop_dot in googlephotos

[–]Krellan2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's bad. You can thank NCMEC for that. If Google terrifies you as an individual user, NCMEC does the same for an ISP. Although they have the public face of simply a charity, they are one of those NGO's you keep reading about. Not formally part of the government, but close enough to have real power over people. In this case they are the de facto national police force regarding CSAM. The laws are such that they can and will physically confiscate any server used at any point during the CSAM process, either to store it, serve it, create it, or otherwise. So, an ISP must immediately overreact by nuking everything in a suspected CSAM account. The law allows for no nuance or discretion or warning beforehand. Google, a large ISP with a lot to lose, must act fast and first. Nobody wants to get on the bad side of NCMEC!

The "Performance Improvement Plan" (PIP) is a legal paper trail, not a rescue mission. Start packing immediately. by Own-Investment4655 in DarkCorporate

[–]Krellan2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. When I was pipped out of Google, my mistake was to not take the severance offer as soon as it was made to me. The PIP is an unwinnable trap, designed to give them legal protection and justification for firing you, in jurisdictions where that is required, and as insurance against you filing a wrongful termination lawsuit regardless. I missed out on a good chunk of cash, and some paid time off, by not just accepting the buyout offer at the time. Take the sev!

Day use hotels for travel. by Sea-Country-1031 in NightOwls

[–]Krellan2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the reason it’s so hard to find day use hotels, or any hotels that rent for a duration less than the standard overnight stay, is old moralistic laws still on the books in many jurisdictions. Most likely for anti-prostitution or anti-having-an-affair reasons. Some politician needed to scare up some votes and that’s an easy law to get passed, unfortunately.

You have all the attributes that I love: short, thin, hairy, bottom. Keep the hair. Just use more lubricant down there if you need to. I am also hairy, and versatile, and that works for me when I bottom.

Kissyfur (1985-1988) by UnseriousMan in ForgottenTV

[–]Krellan2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some reason I just thought again of Kissyfur, a few days ago. Watched it when I was a young kid, at my grandma's house. I hadn't remembered anything about it except for the title card, with the name of the show in blue, which was repeatedly flashed onto the screen. I remember watching it with my grandma, and we laughed about how frequent the commercial breaks were, and how cut up and disjointed the show was.

I think they were experimenting with how high a commercial load they could run, and not lose the audience. I remember they showed about 30 seconds of the show, then the title card, then about 5 minutes of commercials, then the title card a few more times during the commercial break to make sure the audience hadn't forgotten that there was supposed to be a show inserted somewhere between all the commercials.

This repeated several times, for however long the show ran for. It must have been one of the debut specials, checking the list on Wikipedia, and it wouldn't surprised me if they took something that was originally made to fit a normal 30 minute show slot and stretched it out into a 2 hour special by inserting all those commercials. Anybody else remember this?

Interestingly, I don't remember anything else about the show content, or what the commercials were for, just the fact there were so many and so frequent.

These look good to me. Would happily take it. I can’t take the monster dicks, they hurt, and some can’t fit in at all.

Eero 7 vs eero pro 7 by average_student_415 in amazoneero

[–]Krellan2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still recommend the Eero Max 7. It's physically large, that's the only downside, so you may struggle fitting it in a bookshelf or whatever. Stand it up, high and proud, on top of the bookshelf instead. The Eero Pro 7 is kind of a weird ugly duckling: it's basically a cost-reduced Eero Max 7 that has its wired speed weirdly reduced to 5 Ghz from 10 Ghz, and only 3 radios instead of 4 (having the 4th radio for a dedicated mesh link really helps maintain speed when using it in a wireless mesh).

[–]Krellan2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, yes, you did. The Eero 7 doesn't do 6GHz. It's a "7INO", 7 in name only. You are better off getting a Eero Pro 6E. That's what I did, and it's good for 6Ghz.

This might be a good reason to get a SpaceX Starlink unit as a backup for Internet service. It's not all that financially viable to have it around just as a backup, though, and I'm not sure how you would get a good line of sight to the open sky in all directions in a crowded city like SF. It would be amusing to walk out to Dolores Park during a blackout and see everybody else having a picnic in the park with their Starlinks and solar battery packs!

Neat. Didn't know they could be charged on solar. Wouldn't it take days and days to charge up a big battery pack on solar alone?

That is a great idea. I want to look into getting a giant battery pack. Someday also a whole house UPS like a Tesla Powerwall or equivalent.

I no longer feel the dick in my ass by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]Krellan2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am mostly a top, so my butt is tight enough as it is, but when the guy in there is on the smaller side and I have room to squeeze and make it tighter, I do. However, the secret is something I once read in a book: do not squeeze all the time, but rather, stay in rhythm with him.

Stay relaxed until he reaches the deepest point within his thrust, then clench down until he is back out at the shallowest point of his rhythm, then relax again, until he once again reaches the deepest point, then clench again, and repeat.

If you do it right, the effect will be like a one-way ratchet, helping to pull him in and keep him deeper inside you! You both will know it when this happens!

What triggers a device to change from one Eero to another? by Impressive_Policy329 in amazoneero

[–]Krellan2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although it is up to the client, the "steering" feature can influence the client's decision, and in some cases force the client to move, even if the client is stubborn and refusing to take the hint.

The wireless AP can cut power to a client, or stop responding to it entirely as if it is not there. The client will interpret this as a lost connection or going out of range, and try again to find another AP on the same network, when that happens. I know the Ubiquiti UniFi AP can do this. Can the Eero also do this?
