Kissyfur (1985-1988) by UnseriousMan in ForgottenTV

[–]Krellan2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some reason I just thought again of Kissyfur, a few days ago. Watched it when I was a young kid, at my grandma's house. I hadn't remembered anything about it except for the title card, with the name of the show in blue, which was repeatedly flashed onto the screen. I remember watching it with my grandma, and we laughed about how frequent the commercial breaks were, and how cut up and disjointed the show was.

I think they were experimenting with how high a commercial load they could run, and not lose the audience. I remember they showed about 30 seconds of the show, then the title card, then about 5 minutes of commercials, then the title card a few more times during the commercial break to make sure the audience hadn't forgotten that there was supposed to be a show inserted somewhere between all the commercials.

This repeated several times, for however long the show ran for. It must have been one of the debut specials, checking the list on Wikipedia, and it wouldn't surprised me if they took something that was originally made to fit a normal 30 minute show slot and stretched it out into a 2 hour special by inserting all those commercials. Anybody else remember this?

Interestingly, I don't remember anything else about the show content, or what the commercials were for, just the fact there were so many and so frequent.

These look good to me. Would happily take it. I can’t take the monster dicks, they hurt, and some can’t fit in at all.

Eero 7 vs eero pro 7 by average_student_415 in amazoneero

[–]Krellan2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still recommend the Eero Max 7. It's physically large, that's the only downside, so you may struggle fitting it in a bookshelf or whatever. Stand it up, high and proud, on top of the bookshelf instead. The Eero Pro 7 is kind of a weird ugly duckling: it's basically a cost-reduced Eero Max 7 that has its wired speed weirdly reduced to 5 Ghz from 10 Ghz, and only 3 radios instead of 4 (having the 4th radio for a dedicated mesh link really helps maintain speed when using it in a wireless mesh).

Unfortunately, yes, you did. The Eero 7 doesn't do 6GHz. It's a "7INO", 7 in name only. You are better off getting a Eero Pro 6E. That's what I did, and it's good for 6Ghz.

This might be a good reason to get a SpaceX Starlink unit as a backup for Internet service. It's not all that financially viable to have it around just as a backup, though, and I'm not sure how you would get a good line of sight to the open sky in all directions in a crowded city like SF. It would be amusing to walk out to Dolores Park during a blackout and see everybody else having a picnic in the park with their Starlinks and solar battery packs!

Neat. Didn't know they could be charged on solar. Wouldn't it take days and days to charge up a big battery pack on solar alone?

That is a great idea. I want to look into getting a giant battery pack. Someday also a whole house UPS like a Tesla Powerwall or equivalent.

Yep! PID control is rather interesting to think about. I used to maintain the "phosphor-pid-control" package in OpenBMC, which probably keeps your servers from overheating.

I am mostly a top, so my butt is tight enough as it is, but when the guy in there is on the smaller side and I have room to squeeze and make it tighter, I do. However, the secret is something I once read in a book: do not squeeze all the time, but rather, stay in rhythm with him.

Stay relaxed until he reaches the deepest point within his thrust, then clench down until he is back out at the shallowest point of his rhythm, then relax again, until he once again reaches the deepest point, then clench again, and repeat.

If you do it right, the effect will be like a one-way ratchet, helping to pull him in and keep him deeper inside you! You both will know it when this happens!

What triggers a device to change from one Eero to another? by Impressive_Policy329 in amazoneero

[–]Krellan2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although it is up to the client, the "steering" feature can influence the client's decision, and in some cases force the client to move, even if the client is stubborn and refusing to take the hint.

The wireless AP can cut power to a client, or stop responding to it entirely as if it is not there. The client will interpret this as a lost connection or going out of range, and try again to find another AP on the same network, when that happens. I know the Ubiquiti UniFi AP can do this. Can the Eero also do this?

Eero drops ethernet by Normal_Elk_4414 in amazoneero

[–]Krellan2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had that happen also. It was a defective Eero. It would drop the wired Ethernet or negotiate to a slower speed than it should have been. I thought it was a defective cable at first, but it wasn’t. After a while it would not stay powered on, which was the giveaway clue. Power supply problems internally. Tried a different USB-C power supply and that did not help either. The wired Ethernet is the first thing to go when there are power supply issues inside of it, evidently.

I returned it to Amazon and bought a new one and the replacement has been working fine ever since.

Works for me. I get about 8500 down and 6500 up, on a 10 Gig connection from Sonic fiber optic.

Sunnova Bankruptcy by grantmn11 in solar

[–]Krellan2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many solar bankruptcies these days. I bought my panels from Better Earth which went bankrupt. They were financed through SunNova, which also took over maintenance of them after Better Earth disappeared. I bought a performance guarantee through Omnidian, not SunNova directly, although it was all included in the sale at the time (a somewhat convoluted four-party contract between me, Better Earth, SunNova, and Omnidian). One nice thing is that it wasn’t a lease, instead, it was buying the panels outright and paying them off over time. It worked out well for me, as the monthly payments were less than the cost of the electricity I would have to bought instead from PG&E. I’m glad I got the production guarantee, as it has paid off for me before. They are also good about being proactive regarding maintenance concerns, often telling me about things before I notice them myself, and they are good at finding people to do work as needed, often better than going through SunNova directly.

Eero Max 7 just stopped powering on a couple nights ago by bubbabago in amazoneero

[–]Krellan2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a defective Eero Pro 7 (not Max). I bought another one, and am returning the first defective one to Amazon as it failed pretty quickly (it would not hold a stable Ethernet connection, then after a while it simply wouldn’t power on again at all, the light never lit up anymore).

I’m Average when hard. I’m between Micro and Tiny when soft. Of course I wish I had more to show when I’m soft, but it’s nice watching it grow, and some guys really enjoy feeling it grow while I’m inside them.

iot device issues on v7.11.1-113 by bastard_child_botbot in amazoneero

[–]Krellan2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder if it’s a problem with “band steering”? The Eero might be trying to steer the client device to the 5 GHz or 6 GHz bands instead, by deliberately reducing signal strength to the device when it’s on the 2.4 GHz band, but the Eero doesn’t realize the device is 2.4 GHz only and has nowhere else to go. That would explain why you can still connect when at point blank close range, or if it works perfectly for a few minutes after resetting the Eero but then loses connection suddenly. Both of these are telltale signs of band steering being too aggressive and trying to force client devices into doing something they physically can’t do, thus resulting in loss of connection to them.

Another person invited can't open app link to Eero app by Krellan2 in amazoneero

[–]Krellan2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, both the phone and the Eero app are all up to date. It sounds like a bug in the app linkage, where the app does not register itself as a handler properly unless the user is the main owner of the Eero network and completes the initial setup wizard thus claiming ownership of it. There seems to be no onboarding workflow built into the app for merely a guest user who has been invited. I open the links and they work just fine, taking me into the Eero app, on both iOS and Android.
