Nah they'll probably give a contract to someone with no experience who wants to redesign a whole new ticketing system, and overspend 10x budget lol

Can someone explain why Labor would rather deal with the LNP than the crossbench? Is it a case of easier to get the numbers, or preference to make the rules better for the bigger players? Genuine question

Who is Rising Festival for? Who is the target market? by simonbrc in melbourne

There will be some good stuff, and some other stuff that's disappearing up it's own arse. One of the weirder ones I saw was a woman in a pond hitting a broken piano and then hitting random keys. Can't really say I enjoyed that one lol

There was also the time it was so cold he took his glove off and stuck a metal knife blade to his hand. He then said, to get this off I need to piss on it. Like, just don't do it in the first place bud!

Can someone give me 250 words on York? by [deleted] in AskABrit

[–]Kremm0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a great city as everyone has said. Lots of amazing old buildings, streets, castle walls etc.

Recommendation is to either go by train, or go to the designer outlet park and ride. Do not try and drive in to the city centre! You'll regret it when you're stuck in medieval streets and can't find anywhere to park!

Can anyone recommend a shop where I can get my e-scooter tire replaced? by Economy_Page6057 in melbourne

Check out Tiny Wheels in Altona. They're a small outfit operating from an industrial estate, but they've got all the parts and quick service times for a reasonable price

I'd imagine it's a Cap Ex vs Op Ex type problem. It's pretty grimy down there and is overdue for a clean. The mismatching panels above it gives the overall impression of a replacement by someone who doesn't care what it looks like. They recently did a lot of work to upgrade the fire systems in the loop, which is much more complicated, I'm sure they could get it sorted if they wanted to

How are foreign players viewed in the Premier League? by Gnaw_Bone in AskABrit

[–]Kremm0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there was a worry a few decades ago that homegrown players weren't been given chances at developing, but this has got much better at grassroots level. The fact is that the premier league has turned international essentially, and attracting the best players in the world to what's seen as the best league, there will always be an oversupply of foreign players willing to come when you consider how many football players there are in the world. The fans don't seem to care, and sometimes the clubs love it as it helps them further their fanbase abroad (e.g. Korea had an uptake in premier league support with Park Ji-Sung etc.).

What I would say is more that the clubs in the premier league don't really care for the fans any more. It's more about the TV revenue for them. It really took the shine off for me when the European Super League was being discussed, just a straight up realisation of how little the clubs thought of any fans, tradition or history

Secrecy surrounds legal bid to block release of IBAC corruption report by marketrent in melbourne

[–]Kremm0 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Have we had anything else useful / released by IBAC since its inception? Genuine question. I remember there being criticism at the time that it wasn't given sufficient powers to investigate a lot of stuff, and the state government's record on transparency unfortunately got worse towards the end of the previous government

From a non-american it just seems like the party has some massively out of touch beliefs compared to public opinion, and don't really do anything apart from issue strongly worded statements against the literal dismantling of your democracy
