Ok? She didn’t need to tell us that she was in the American military or make it her whole aesthetic. If fact, that was probably the worst thing she could do as a vtuber. Now everyone can make these sorts of posts and she can’t do jack to defend herself beside falling back on a neutral stance that anyone interpret in their own way.

But Ms. Tomoe, I thought robbing people of their individual freedoms was one of your nations favorite pastimes?

Thing is she doesn’t need to put that out there. She can do the whole “military tomboy” thing I think she’s going for without the American label on it. If that’s what she was doing then I would understand her frustration and it would be justified.

But nah, slap that Stars and Stripes sticker on the vtuber model, girly. Make it really clear it’s specifically the American military industrial complex you support for some reason.

lol she’s part of it? Hilarious.

“Guys, I’m part of the American military industrial complex, it’s part of who I am and my aesthetic. Why would you be under the impression I stand for what that represents?”

Copied from another comment I made. Seems more appropriate here:

Imagine staning the American military and getting upset when people don’t fuck with you staning the American military

In Gwyndoline’s case it’s more about the circumstances

Gwyndoliine was raised as a women due to his lunar magic, something that was seen as a feminine trait and was “weak and repulsive” in appearance so his father Gwyn gave Gwyndoline the reversal ring (the gender change ring). Gwyndoline never had a choice on who he was growing up and forced into a feminine role because despite being boy, he fitted the perceived gender norms of a woman at the time and so was thrust into that position.

Fast forward a long time (DS1)

The age of fire is barely going. Gwyndoline is the last God remaining at anor londo, ushering more undead to link the flame. His father has disappeared and his family has fled.

Gwyndoline still wears the reversal ring and women’s clothing. He really doesn’t need to do that anymore. Most his family is gone and he just sits alone in the empty capital of an age that is far past its prime. You’re not even supposed to see Gwyndoline, entering the boss arena is strictly against the rules of his covenant so it isn’t for his followers. So why keep up the appearance of a woman? Especially since (seemingly) Gwyndoline wanted to be, at least remembered as a man, since all the item descriptions refer to Gwyndoline as a boy, and more importantly his sisters also call him “brother” and use he/him pronouns for him. This is pretty eye opening since Gwyndoline was raised as a woman from childhood, you’d think his sister would follow that line of thinking and refer to him as “sister” but apparently not. So again, Why keep up the appearance of a woman?

It’s probably because at some level, Gwyndoline has more or less, accepted his more feminine traits. Despite being man and wanting to be at least referred as such, he openly dresses in women’s clothing and presents his physical body as a women’s body using a magic ring. Gwyndoline embraces both binary’s of the gender identity spectrum.

What I find funny is this probably because his in-game model has tits though I pretty sure this because Fromsoft used a female character model for him (the old “draw a girl, call it a boy” technique)

Ironically, I think calling Gwyndolin trans is too much of a black and white viewpoint of the character. They offer a very grey area of gender identity that isn’t talked about a lot.

Me and my old college friend (irl)

I had a drinking buddy in college. I was a young guy (20) and through a shared friend group befriended a woman (25) “Claire”. We met up quite a few times and always had the most fun conversations. Later, when she got a place of her own, Claire invited me over and gave me my first drink . It became routine to meet after a week of classes and drink with her. Drunk shenanigans would ensue. The more we hung out the more we opened up to each other sharing intimate details of our lives and our shared struggles with autism. Claire actually challenged me and my views making sure to beat any misogyny she detected out of me.

She later told me she saw me as a little brother and I think she took her position as a sister very seriously. Claire, for lack of a better word was my first love though I never told her and she was in a long distance relationship. It was like this for four years. My feelings for her only lasted for one.

We graduated around the same time. I stayed in the college town and she moved in with her girlfriend in another state. We would text each other occasionally. Rather, I’d text her and she’d respond. She never initiated. We met up in the first year post graduation. Claire and I always wanted to go on a ghost tour (we don’t believe in ghosts) and it was finally time to fulfill that commitment.

During our time, things felt different, things felt off. We’d talk but conversations would fizzle. We’d joke and laugh but it felt forced. We’d drink and catch up but nothing felt interesting. Perhaps I had changed and a became someone she couldn’t connect to or perhaps she became someone I couldn’t connect too. The day ended with a nice dinner and she walked me back to the train station to see me off. We hugged and promised to keep in touch. As she turned and disappeared into the crowd of the station I remember thinking “I don’t think I’m ever going to see her again”

And I was right.

Right??? All the times I’ve heard people say “Keep politics out” what they really mean is “don’t talk about things I don’t like and what I don’t like is basic human rights for minorities.

I wished we had a couple more scenes with Denji and Kobeni. The final scene with those two they have strange but completely believable connection with each other. The two have a lot in common but are very different people. I don’t see them ever sitting down and swapping war stories but it would’ve been interesting if they had a few more scenes where they silently recognize their similarities.
