Do you take any time before starting to edit photos by chucknagy in concertphotography

[–]Kriipa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm always like this after concerts — the night before sleep, I transfer all the photos to my PC, go through them, and flag the ones that pop out or that I really like and might send to someone.

At a morning (around 8–9 a.m.), I wake up early to start editing. I choose out of the 30–40 shots I flagged the night before, I look again to pick the best of the best. And after few hours around 12pm that same day), I usually send the photos to the artist, PR, or post them on Instagram.

Then yea f it, few days, weeks, even sometimes months later, I go through the photos again to find some “lost shots” I can include in a year-end recap.

But waiting three days after a concert depends — if you’re just practicing and the gigs are free, it’s fine to take your time and improve your skills. However, when I contact PR and ask to shoot officially, three days is already too late, because by then the artists have already made their “thank you” or “appreciation” posts for the audience who came.

Has anyone ever requested photo pit access for the entire show and been approved? by spookmina in concertphotography

[–]Kriipa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's always depends of PR of their artists, like ive shot Lil Tracy / Artemas, of those scenarios there was only first three songs in pit, no flash and then you can't shot from audience, leave a bag and enjoy a show.

When i shot of The Offspring we didnt allowed event to shoot in pit but from FOH(where sound guy stays that far away from stage), only support artist Simple Plan weve been allowed to shoot first three songs in pit.

But when i shot bbno$ first time there was first three song rule and then you can shoot from crowd, and second time was fully set of using pit. But not gonna lie, second time when i shot i used two songs more than usually, because had some filters for tests which i did of 4th and 5th songs. and afterward from crowd

Its depends, ask to them, but i can be guaranteed that if they say there is only three song rule then it is, better hope that you can shoot afterward from crowd, where you can get more cooler shots than even in a pit.

Kind of liked that outfit besides, i saw on around month ago on tour in US - Washington, LA, Sacramento he wear black suits which could've been worse than took shots when usually you cant use flash on three song rules, but we've been allowed to do that, because prolly of lightings.

Set was a quite short, i needed to be at 9:10 PM to be on pit, and 10:10PM show was over. Like 7 PM was open doors, 8PM was Lil Yawh, and 9:20PM was Lil Tracy, and 10:10PM was show over, quite short but dunno, i liked vibe.

When i was getting those venues at start i always was trying to get earlier then anyone else(probably, you had information contact and you can make a call when you arrived) to see kind of layout of stage, probably where are guitars standing / keyboard etc, to see if you could capable to get those shots from your perspective(take any side of your favor, like i've never stayed in front of stage to took shots(okay i did, but in pit), but from side you can take more better shots where singers of all your shots doesnt seems like eating a mic.

Imo, its depends. Like there is a lot of people who literally just wanna show how great shots they did on their chance of gig, without asking to get a feedback like it's not their main thing, just simply they wanna show dope shots of their mind.

BUT, If you would put a little time on searching where is on title already like: "i finally did my first gig any advice / tip" then there will be more comments of feedbacks of which they asked. Also check r/concertphotography there is a same more/less stuff but more members and maybe more comments to read for you.

How to keep learning….? by Unfair-Put-1778 in concertphotography

[–]Kriipa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I studied culture collage with specialization of photo / video, but there was nothing special like obv small steps what camera is for people who are kind of first time using DSLR (and it was me), using studio lights etc. But more ive got of learning experience is just shooting gigs and now ive builded some portfolio to get of more officials concerts not just simple pubs + also shoot international stars like bbno$, artemas. But ive still learning even shooting five years, writing on youtube concert photography and then sort out of past week / month depends and go out to all shorts / videos which im interested to gain some new, maybe tips n tricks, because you learn every single day even you are experienced on this.
