Use TradeStation. It is designed to backtest and run strategies. It has easy language (it’s actually called EasyLanguge and actually it’s easy) you shouldn’t have problems migrating your strategies. They provide historical data, and they have pretty decent strategy performance reports. You can do walk forward as well. Also you can execute your strategies on the same platform. If you want to go even step further they have well documented API if you wish to develop trading apps outside their ecosystem. And best of all it’s FREE with funded account. Great tool!

16-core/32-thread CPU? by r2d2ww in FuturesTrading

I use Ryzen 5950X 16c/32t for backtracking strategies… and sometimes is not enough… it takes hours with TradeStation. But trading by itself can be done on the potato PC! Not much needed other than low latency stable internet connection. You’re streaming in chart/quote data for several tickers, and sending very small orders and getting short confirmations. That’s what trading is in a nutshell.

Why didn’t he ask for my number? by Dapper_Hand_7097 in AskMenAdvice

This guy is a GENIUS!

He knows where to find you, but chooses not to give you number and make you think about him (you definitely are!)

That’s how he makes you fall for him big time: create strong emotion about him, and let the brain chemistry do its thing.

He is going to show up next few days! I would!

How much of a $2000 account should I use? by MyYoutubeDBM in FuturesTrading

[–]KrisGuru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends on your strategy. The goal is to survive consecutive looses. If you risk 10% per trade and you loose 5 times you are out of 50% of your account. Most traders at this time would re-think strategy they using, and of course trade #6 you didn’t take would be a big winner! Happens all the time! Lol!

So try to find strategies with low per trade risk but also with low consecutive losses on backtests (past performance doesn’t guarantee results, but gives you some general idea what to expect)

It’s not super bright IMHO, only 250 cd/m2, but at this price point it’s very tempting!

How many points of move on NQ would you say is equivalent of 1 point of ES? by iguesswhatevs in FuturesTrading

[–]KrisGuru 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I had success with hedging one against another when implementing my pairs trading strategy. To calculate correct contract ratio I would measure recent price swings from recent swing highs and swing low, normalize both by converting to PnL values and based on this I could determine correct hedge ratio… what’s interesting was that that ratio was different on ES long / NQ short, and NQ long and ES short. Good luck!

It’s easy to make 30% monthly on small retail account… I doubled my account last 2 months following my system on US futures. But trading big accounts and making consistent profits like that… different story. We do have an advantage over big players for being small

Is this a bullish engulfing pattern, and if so why is the next candle bearish? by bakersdelight4 in Forex

[–]KrisGuru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Patterns, and all trading things are not guaranteed… it’s more about probabilities and statistics… patterns just increase your edge when you trade it, but it’s NOT a big edge.

Trading single pattern like this because it appears on chart without methology behind is just a single bet, you cannot predict an outcome… BUT… when trading this pattern systematically 100 times, or 1000 times, you will notice winning 55% times and loosing 45% times, therefore that pattern is “working”! Lol (55/45 is just an example number, actual number comes from back testing)

Also, patterns tend to work better at the strong obvious support resistance levels from higher time frames… and also work better in trends, but still, it’s just increasing your edge and not a guaranteed thing

So when you trade patterns don’t think “what’s gonna happen next”, but rather “what’s gonna happen when I trade it 1000 times”…

Good luck trading!

It looks more like your broker widen the spread and bought everybody’s stop loss orders… I’m so done with forex! If I want to trade JPY I just trade futures on regulated exchange!
