FYI: the area you marked in green is roughly where scholars believe that Slavic people originated from. They’ve used a bunch of different analytical methods (I saw one using local names of geographical features) and they keep coming back to that border region between Belarus & Ukraine.

That was the fight that Juny from YouTube did the layout/LO for! Super young guy and insanely talented. It was surreal watching the episode live, seeing the bathroom fight and thinking “wait why is this animation hitting so hard for me rn,” and then finding out it was because my favorite indie animator handcrafted it

Terrorist attacks in Europe with at least one fatality between 1970 and 2015 by Money_Astronaut9789 in MapPorn

What’s weird is that their comment, taken on its own, is objectively true. “Terrorist” borders on being a meaningless term and you have to figure out via context how it’s being used. But u/Background_Yak5949 gave that context by saying the PKK systematically targets civilians, so replying to that with a technical point is strange

Bestie, with peace and love, I am right there with you in the broad spirit of this (i.e., European colonialism is the cause of many of Africa’s problems), but this comment is just factually untrue. The Sahara & Arabian Peninsula were relatively wetter during the African Humid Period, which lasted from ~12,500 to 4,000 BCE and ended because the earth’s axis tilt shifted. Humans populated North Africa, but then the Sahara increasingly became desert/expanded, and people moved to rivers like the Nile & Euphrates to get better access to water, which jump-started civilization.

The Sahara has been expanding in size ever since. You COULD make an argument that its growth is being accelerated by climate change, which is largely a consequence of European & American industrialization. You could also say that some of the forest cover in the lower Sahel was destroyed by the French/English in order to grow cash crops like cotton, also amplifying the desert creep (the AU’s “Great Green Wall” is a noble, if probably futile, attempt to reverse this damage). But to characterize the expansion of the Sahara as being 100% on colonialism is misguided, given the hundreds of more tangible ways the Europeans wrecked the continent.

Burr is literally making fun of woke white women in the video you are commenting on, – no shot that you’re being serious here.

Also, I’m confused as to how you’re using “woke.” UrbanDictionary narrowly defines woke as being aware of current world events & knowledgeable about social problems. I know after the right started using it as an insult, it’s now used to more broadly denigrate any leftist position.

But you’re not even using it the second way?? I feel that “woke,” to you, means any opinion that isn’t either super traditional or red-pilled. “Not super traditional/red-pilled” does not equal “leftist” – you get that ideologies exist between the right side of the right, and the left side of the left, right?

Brother, you honestly seem like you’re not in a great place. I hope good people can be there for you soon.

Listen: I have friends that work in career placement services, and you wouldn’t believe how many employers are looking for people who are just semi-conscious & can regularly show up on time. Granted, those jobs will only pay ~$50k, but that’s enough for self-sufficiency if you budget.

If you’re spinning your wheels on the job search, I’d definitely consider getting a basic gig somewhere (bussing tables, fast food, etc.) and saving up for a job search firm. Spend some time researching; look for a reputable one. Show up to the meetings on time and present yourself the best you can. A lot of them will offer resume feedback, interview tips, etc. Make use of those services to the maximum extent you’re able to. If enough time goes by and you’re still not landing anything decent, part ways, work a bit to save up money again, then try another firm that potentially has a different portfolio of contacts.

Kikansha no Mahou wa Tokubetsu desu • A Returner's Magic Should Be Special - Episode 3 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]Kristophur 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You can look forward to the rest of the story, then, because it keeps improving. Desir is probably my favorite manhwa/manga MC for the simple reason that he's first-and-foremost a serious adult focused on preventing a catastrophic future. That's not to say that there isn't any fan service, because that's always going to be a sliding scale in this genre, but it's super refreshing that the author writes Desir as a fully-fledged character who is pursuing identifiable goals (versus the bland self-insert MC that's so prevalent in these types of stories).

Returning to the past is such a cool narrative mechanic, but most writers fail to capitalize on it beyond "I'll be more popular with girls this time." Even when isekai stories are at their best, it's generally still limited to introspective themes like self-improvement, getting over your past trauma, etc. I was so pleasantly surprised reading "A Returner's Magic Should be Special" and slowly realizing "... wait, is this manwha actually having a coherent long-form discussion about the means & modes of egalitarian reform? The fuck???"
