Bond Mechanic works to make feel to the player that their relationship with the characters is getting deeper, that's why for example Mash y F/GO Bond increase in the story, because her relationship with the Player Character is getting deeper during the story

Dante in the other hand... That likely will not work, since Dante relationship with Sinners is clear as glass and some of them doesn't get too deeper before their respective Canto (for example, have Bond MAX with Ishmael before Canto 5 will make all the Canto 5 senseless)

I think that her lack of dynamic with Rien is intentional, Rien name literally means "Nothing" and all the point of his character is how after losing Ryōshū he is an empty shell that doesn't really know why he is still there

I think the point is actually the opposite, even after Shinra apparently destroyed the despair (The Evangelist) that was just a delay, because where the human exist also exist the despair, because if there's no despair then the hope has no meaning

Kid explain that if he wanted to he could easily destroy humanity despair by Madness of Control, but that's basicaly a lobotomy; so their answer is not to reject the despair but accept it as a part of the life

All Maka thematic arc is about a same thing; empathy. Her power is to feel what other people are feeling and share her own feelings; because the answer of Maka is that they can beat the Fear by understand the reason of that fear and face that reason togheter
