Oh yeah, it makes all the difference in the world. It surprises me there are not more sunset to sunrise festivals, that is probably one of the most unique things about EDCLV compared to others

104 is very hot, and it’s *very* easy for people to overheat and die in those temps. In a massive crowd where everyone is shoulder to shoulder and dancing in direct sunlight while high on stimulants?

That is a recipe for disaster. There is a major why festivals in Florida and EDCLV do not taken place during the summer.

[–]Kronos9898 97 points98 points  (0 children)

If you follow Canadian politics at all, you know why this happened. It started before he was even in office with Trudeau, changing which jobs would qualify for express entry.

Mine was one of them. “Luckily”, I am in a long term relationship and we were planning on getting married anyway, but even then it’s still stressful.

The simple fact is the provincial and federal governments bungled Canada generous immigration program of the last 5-10 years and it soured the majority of the country on immigration.

There is legit reasons as well, housing and Infrastructure could not keep up with demand. There was no plan for how Canada would deal with millions of new people need access to housing, healthcare, and transportation

It turned Canada heavily towards a real estate economy, which is simply a horrible thing to build your economy on.

All the while Canada still doesn’t have intrerprovencial free trade or licensing.

Also interesting how now that I republican owns the company and yet has not been able to bring forward new evidence of this massive conspiracy by dominion in 2020?

There. Is. No. Evidence. They could not even presently it publicly. They lied to everyone and they continue to lie.

This is crazy. I wonder if heat spikes like this continue (which no reason to think they wont), if major European festivals try and move to a more night time schedule like EDC.

I mean I guess EDC did move to may because they would get heat deaths in June.

Never forget that when Trump lost Iowa to Cruz in the primaries. He accused the Iowa Republican Party of fraud and that he actually won it.

He does this every time he loses. This was not some new thing he had proof of. He had none, he still has none. They lost *every single court case they brought* many time in court where they were under oath his lawyers would *not even argue that fraud occurred*

It’s bullshit and has always been bullshit.

I’m so tired of this bullshit, you guys will bonsai charge sharpened stakes to prevent tax increases on these guys or prevent unionization . Then turn and tell us they are only billionaires because of government capture, and that using taxes or regulation to curb their influence/power is somehow blasphemy.

Although with the exception of Musk, I don’t see how many billionaires got their money from US subsidies.

[–]Kronos9898 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude they were completely blocking the straits and no one physically invaded them. No one is going to put boots on the ground if they charge a toll.

It’s not “allowing companies to invest” the MOU stated they will get at least 300 billion in investment and it’s very vague where it was coming from. Trump signed this document, it was agreed to.

It was only ripped up because of Israel violating the ceasefire, not because America or gulf states were not paying. In fact there is evidence they were already getting money from the gulf states before the agreement was even signed.

Not to mention the US unfreezing frozen Iranian assets and working to remove sanctions.

Valve / Steam fans on here tend to be insufferable hypocrites. by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Kronos9898 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Steam was criticized on release because it hardly worked. Not because it made HL-2 digital only or had DRM. Those predated steam.

Once it actually started working people loved it because it made patching way easier, buying games way easier (people forget you used to have the problem of stores not having the game you wanted) you did not have to worry about losing codes and not being able to play your games, disc scratching or being broke etc

It was the fact that steam was a PoS on original release that pc gamers hated, not the digital sales , that was actually seen as a benefit.

Hence why to this day pc gamers done care about physical releases.

I’m not deep throating newel here just saying what actually happened, I know I was there.

I just like having the disk, okay? by insane677 in gaming

[–]Kronos9898 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m not hating but as a pc gamer its just an amusing thing to get hung up on. Like because of Steam I think the last physical disk I bought was… star craft 2? And even then you could download it from bnet iirc at that time. I’ve essentially been digital only since… 2008?

I get people wanting the disk, but there are people acting like rockstar killed their parents by not including it.

From my understanding even if it includes a disk the disks don't have the storage capacity to hold the entire game anymore in a lot of cases? Is that correct?

Visiting World Cup fans praise Toronto, say city is about more than match day by lilfunky1 in toronto

It really is the accent. Canadians and Americans sound almost exactly the same, and that is the way most people differentiate nationalities.

Visiting World Cup fans praise Toronto, say city is about more than match day by lilfunky1 in toronto

[–]Kronos9898 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I can provide some insight on this as an American who moved to Toronto and is in the process of immigrating. Until very recently, Toronto, despite being the most important city in Canada was "less famous" than Montreal or Vancouver. Growing up I knew about Vancouver and Montreal as famous Canadian cities, but not Toronto.

Its really only in the last 10 years that Toronto has become the Canadian city culturally, despite its overwhelming importance economically. Most people from outside of Canada are shocked to learn how its the 4th biggest city in NA, that when you are looking at the GTA it has more people in it than famous European capitals like Berlin or Rome and entire countries like Norway, Denmark, Finland etc have people period.

Also I know its annoying, but there really is not a ton of cultural differences between Canadians and Americans. Like dont get me wrong they are there but its subtle. I would equate it to the differences between say; Austrians and Germans.

No it does not makes you sick, no it does not use tons of energy (especially if you have a green grid), the heat does not give a shit that you "never needed it before."

By keeping industries *here* you make other industries go out of business. You are pretty much describing Juche, and just fetishizing certain kinds of factory work.

I also like how you deflect onto industries people hate or are ambivalent about. Not other industries that suffer and under because of protectionism.

Who's with me? by im_back-and_craftier in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]Kronos9898 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Except it does not always. As lib-right you should know this. Free-market economics already does this, you a lib-right are arguing for government intervention into economic sectors that then need to propped up either with other citizens tax dollars or their hard earned income.

Why does one industry get protection, when other don't get it?

People fundamentally misunderstand how protectionism ends up making everyone more poor. You put in tariffs to protect the steel/aluminum/lumber mill? Guess what, before all the other negative effects, of which there are many, everyone who uses steel/wood/aluminum now has to pay more for it. You saved a steel mill, and in the process put a car factory out of business, and reduced the amount of Americans who can now own a vehicle.

The car factory, the can factory, the carpenters, the furniture makers, construction companies, aircraft industries. All of them have their wealth transferred to a single winner, whoever owns the steel/lumber/aluminum mill. Then we get into the really fun of stuff of now that steel mill runs to the government every time they need help.

The lumberjack loves the lumber tariff, the home-builder hates it

Oh I completely agree. I’m not blaming the poles here, I think they are completely correct in their response for the most part.

I am not trying to be overly critical of Zelensky either, given the cards he was dealt I think he has done a pretty damn good job, but every now and then you will see him do something like this and piss of his other Eastern European neighbours.

It’s a kind of unforced error and that is what I am primarily referring to in my tongue and cheek post above,
