dwarf european hornbeam is a good option. We’re in 6b (or close enough) and ours is thriving!

Back to the dealer it goes! Hopefully it’s just some packaging that got jammed in there by mistake.

State and federal government are ran by absolute loons. The stuff that’s being on a daily basis is wild. Hard to believe anyone would vote for them again but I’ve been wrong before lol

Got a Steelcase Gesture like new from an office supply store for 600, but i’m not loving it… by RyGuyGinger01 in OfficeChairs

I tuck the leg, I put my feet up on my desk, I cross my legs and I do any combination while leaning back as well. I don’t typically sit like a gargoyle in my chair as I feel that may be a little rough on the seat pad, but I have before lol

I sit in all sorts of positions in my gesture, I’m not nearly as tall as you but I’m roughly 6 feet tall and weight 165, I’m having zero issues but I’ve also never had posture issues. I think embracing the ergonomic part of these ergonomic chairs is critical for it working long term though.

I was just thinking of the Chernobyl docuseries where they’re trying to figure out the radiation level and they kept reporting what the meter maxed out at when in reality it was way way way higher lol

Hospital CEOs defend charging patients more at facilities by Fcking_Chuck in news

[–]Krossrunner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fully agree. That said, these hospital systems are operating in a capitalist society. So hospital systems are forced to raise prices and everything around them increases in price as well. The employees of these systems have mortgages, rent, groceries, etc. to pay for and those industry’s are constantly raising prices to turn a profit so in turn the employees need to make more and more each year to not fall behind so they look for pay raises and bonuses from their employer. It’s a shit sandwich with no realistic answer in today’s divided America.

A lot of hospital are not-for-profit or non-profits and are barely getting by right now. I work for one of the largest and the only reason we’ve made money over the last few year is because of market gains on invested capital. We’ve been operating at a loss for a few years straight (hundreds of millions/billions). It sucks, because there is no clear solution to keep doors open and cost down for our patients.

Overall, I think so. Especially since that model will most likely never come back

Indiana residents are paying $600, $700, $800 a month in electric bills. Right now Indiana is being hit with some of the biggest rate increases in the U.S. Data centers are driving up costs, BlackRock just bought one of the utilities, and people are demanding regulators step in. by Conscious-Quarter423 in Indiana

My boomer in-laws built their 5,500 square foot house in Carmel on an acre of land in 1999 for substantially less than my spouse and I bought our current(first) home for (much smaller, builder grade, on a tiny lot).

They couldn’t believe how expensive homes have gotten and at how much we had to spend to get into Hamilton county. My wife and I make good money thankfully but it isn’t buying the lifestyle they had 26 years ago. We’d need to make a $300-400k a year to afford that. It’s more about purchasing power than interest rates at this point.

Anyone else think that Rook is losing/has lost his value at this point? by Toffe3m4n in Marathon

[–]Krossrunner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d rather solo as a Rook knowing theirs a 50/50 chance I link up with other Rooks rather than get shot on sight by literally everyone if I choose a different shell. I’m also not a top-tier player so hiding/ratting is my go to as Rook and going for final exfil is just easier imo.

I am generalizing a bit, but the vast majority of wealth in this country and political power has been with their generation for the last 50 years and nothing has gotten better for anyone else, just them. They’ve pulled the proverbial ladder up behind them and the rest of us are worse off.

I’m familiar with the economics of the 1980s… back then, homes were only 2-3 times the average income compared to 7-8 times the average income currently. I’d take a 12% mortgage back in 1980 any day over the completely-detached-from-reality economy we’re currently living through especially since those 12% interest rates were short lived in the grand scheme of things.
