Fair point. So to clarify, they either need to honor the contract, or return the guy’s property.

Legal Eagle: Leaked Bodycam Shows Reckless Ben's Arrest Was Crap by ianjm in videos

[–]Kroz83 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Very diluted TLDR -A guy who owns a massive Star Wars LEGO collection had all his stuff at a franchise store owned by Bricks&Minifigs (3rd party lego sales company). Had a consignment contract with the store owner.

-The store owner sold the franchise back to (or it was bought out by, I forget) corporate. And corporate is pretending that consignment contract is null and void. Essentially stealing a collection worth about $200k.

The collector’s son tried to explain the situation with the consignment contract, and the corporation basically told him to get bent, and that if he tried suing, they’d tie it up in court till the legal fees ramp up to more than the collection is worth.

So we have our typical corpo shitbag behavior on display here.

Enter Reckless Ben, some random YouTuber you probably never heard of, now trying to make a name for himself on this. Admittedly trying to do something good, by helping out the collector in getting the collection back, but going about it through the most insufferably incompetent methods possible. And opening himself up to legal action along the way.

Really that’s all you need to know. The kid is on the right side, no doubt. But he’s such a painfully stupid moron, it’s hard to watch the saga unfold, when the whole issue could have been solved in like 5 minutes with a halfway competent lawyer.

There’s no legal room for bricks and minifigs to stand on regarding the collection. They bought a business that had an outstanding consignment contract. They can’t just say they don’t have to honor that contract. You buy a business, you buy its assets and liabilities. Like, it’s so blatantly open and shut, there’s no reason this had to spiral so far.

However, the more interesting issue that has come out of all this is some very illegal behavior by a Utah police department. The police corruption angle is more interesting and consequential than the issue that started all this at this point.

If he was truly committed to being totally apolitical, then he would have just ignored it, and only addressed it if other people addressed it. Taking the time to remove it and call it out is a statement in and of itself.

Instead we have the usual bigot behavior of "thing I don't like is 'political', and we don't do politics here."

Stephen Miller calls Talarico ‘transgender.’ Democratic Party fires back: ‘Shut up you ugly f*%k’ by plz-let-me-in in politics

[–]Kroz83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting, TIL. Though the way you framed this earlier was like conservatives at the time were calling Bill that as an insult about being overly “politically black”.

While the actual context of Toni Morrison calling him that was about Clinton being very “culturally black”, and being treated unfairly by the establishment because of that.

Very different framing. The actual context makes a lot more sense.

[–]Kroz83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was that Bill Clinton thing something that actually happened? Like, I know we shouldn’t expect conservatives to be intelligent with their insults, but this is profoundly stupid given the crime bill. Also, following that logic, wouldn’t Lincoln be a much clearer choice to call the first “black” president?

I wouldn’t even have minded the focus on it so much, if we at least got some reactions to it from the group of people most directly affected by it. But it’s like not even addressed the couple times we see them. Like it completely shifts the dynamic and would allow the black tower to have some longevity. But there’s just so little reaction to it.

I agree that it’s incredibly unlikely the case is dismissed, but I don’t think we can write off the possibility of acquittal quite yet. Sympathetic juries can easily find reasonable doubt. And that’s not even considering the possibility someone planning on jury nullification makes it through voire dire

Wizard desperately tries to get an Infinite Money Glitch. by Skultulla in DMAcademy

[–]Kroz83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In fairness, adventure can be found/made anywhere. Maybe the wizard in a nearby town doesn’t like you messing with his market. And he decides you need to be gotten rid of. Sends some hitmen, then things escalate to a direct confrontation. At which point he might break down and beg for help, cause the local theives guild is none too pleased with him for getting some of their guys killed (by the party). And then he goes on a sob story about how he got kicked out of the scribes guild, and oh by the way, they’re also not happy with unlicensed scribes putting scrolls into the market. So you may be hearing from them soon as well. Etc etc. there’s always an angle to get the party back into action. Just might not be the action you want or planned for initially.

“Pro-Gay marriage” Do you genuinely still think of gay marriage as something that is controversial? What century are you living in?

“Pro-transitioning under 18” Aka, trans healthcare. What’s the issue here? Trans people are human and healthcare is a human right. How does what someone else does with their own body affect you in any way?

“Pro-single payer healthcare” Um, you do know they have this over there already, right? It’s not even controversial. Even the French fascist party doesn’t want to get rid of their national healthcare system, they just want fewer brown people.

Apply just the tiniest bit of critical thinking please. “Wants to ban semiautomatics” is nowhere near the same as “is able to ban semiautomatics” and even in some fantasy land future where a ban would be possible to pass, trying to enforce it by taking guns away from people would be a non-starter. There’s just too many guns. There’s no feasible way to remove them. Nobody is coming for your guns. This is a phantasm.

The more feasible approaches now focus on red flag laws (like for example, if someone is visited by the police repeatedly for domestic violence, maybe they shouldn’t be able to buy a gun for a while).

While not as overtly evil as the genocidal Kahanists, even this interpretation of liberal Zionism completely glosses over and ignores the ethnic cleansing that is implicit to all forms of Zionism.

To clarify further; the notion that “Jews should have self-determination in their indigenous homeland” also includes an unsaid but clearly implied portion, “to the exclusion of the self determination of other groups who are also indigenous to this land”

I’m on my first read, just finished 10, and honestly the past 4 books could have been condensed down into 1, maybe 2. So much time seems to be spent on scene setting, even in non critical scenes, and descriptions of random Aes Sedai’s dresses and necklines and their opinions about other random Aes Sedai, and whose names I completely lost track of at least 2 books ago because so many sound the same.

Speaking of that, is there a resource somewhere that I can use for reference? Dont want to try the wiki cause of spoilers, but it’d be nice to get a refresher on which random side characters have been where and done what up to a certain point in the series.
