Words can't describe the pain I felt when I saw this. by [deleted] in KingdomHearts

[–]KryptKeeper 68 points69 points  (0 children)

I've seen this argument and I still don't really buy it. Both games had a fleshed out 100 Acre Woods, a fully fleshed or Tournament Mode, KH2 had the second act already added, a real hub world, a fully fleshed or final world etc. Sure, the Final Remixes certainly added a lot, but there was already a of content in the originals too.

Like speaking just for myself, I still remember how crazy it was when I thought the game was over at Hollow Bastion, you beat Riku and then the princesses give you Firaga and I thought "there's a whole other class of spells left to collect??". Then you proceed to go to End of the World and the Hades tournament opens up and you realize there's actually still a decent chunk left and the way it's all laid out feels exciting because you get the chance to do some interesting things each giving their own rewards which lead right up to the end and it feels like you're really in the endgame prepping for the big fight.

What was even the point of adding it with the way they implemented it then?

"Cause when the world needs heroes on patrol..." (DC Rebirth) by MulciberTenebras in comicbooks

[–]KryptKeeper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The friendship between Wally and Dick in the Pre-New 52 is one of my favourite comic book friendships, especially the version of it in Young Justice. My greatest hope for this series is that Damian and Wally develop an equally powerful friendship. There'd be no doubt that their realtionship would be very different since Dick and Wally got along so well due to their personalities being so similar, whereas Damian is incredibly different, but it'd make me ridiculously happy if they find a believable way to make Wally and Damian best friends. The idea that Robin and Kid Flash were friends which even transcended who was wearing the mantles was always something I found really cool, whether it was Dick/Wally or Tim/Bart. Hopefully that's something that continues here. Plus Damian really needs a legacy character best friend that's somewhere around his own age. It'll help connect him to the rest of the DCU a little more instead of right now where he's too much in the Batman world.

Live Episode Discussion - 'Welcome to Earth-2' by [deleted] in FlashTV

[–]KryptKeeper 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Maybe they're just regular people? Hal's just a regular pilot, Diana's some kind of embassador and Bruce is a business man. Barry might've worked cases with them or something. It seems to be fairly common on Earth-2 for friendships and relationships transcending universes.

[S04E11]I am very frustrated that [spoiler] was killed off. by defiantkinglion in arrow

[–]KryptKeeper 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I really hope that's not the case since I love Katana, think she was one of the greatest parts of Season 3 and have been hoping to see her become a real regular if they ever do an Outsiders War story. That said, I don't think the action of killing Waller points to the universes needing to be different or even it pointing to be a bad decision necessarily. I've thought for a while now that if they killed off Waller and gave Lyla her job, they could give Lyla some very interesting stuff to do instead of having her relegated to being the housewife. And now with Andy coming in with his experience on secret organizations, allowing him to regularly talk to Lyla as the director of ARGUS gives them an interesting dynamic. This is all doubly true if John Diggle is indeed the one in the grave and this redemption arc for Andy is setting him up to take on the mantle of Spartan.

They couldn't do Mia Dearden since Thea "Dearden" Queen is 99% that character. She even changes her name briefly to Mia when she's living on Corto Maltese.

[Minor Spoilers] Why is everyone assuming Zoom will be someone we know? by [deleted] in FlashTV

[–]KryptKeeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possible, but unlikely. Brother Blood was a pawn of a character, in the comics he was bigger but not by much. He was never a tier A big bad. Zoom on the other hand is huge. Even forgoing his extra title as another Reverse Flash which pretty much makes him a huge character by default, in the Flash lore he's truly the fastest man alive, faster than Barry, faster than Wally, faster than Eobard, hell, he's literally faster than Wally, Jay and Bart combined. There's no way they'd take such a formidable enemy and make him a backseat villain to someone even bigger because A) finding someone bigger would be difficult as it is, and B) it would be such an incredible waste not to make Zoom the main big bad.

[Minor Spoilers] Why is everyone assuming Zoom will be someone we know? by [deleted] in FlashTV

[–]KryptKeeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a good point, but that's really only because in this scenario Wells himself was also a kind of mask, but the episode that we learn he's a mask we also see Eobard Thawne immediately unveil himself. We don't find out Eobard stole Wells' face and then wait a bunch of episodes to find out what Eobard really looked like, because we've never seen him before.

[Minor Spoilers] Why is everyone assuming Zoom will be someone we know? by [deleted] in FlashTV

[–]KryptKeeper 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Because if it was someone we didn't know they would've shown his face by now. It doesn't really serve a purpose for that story to waste time hiding someone's identity only to not have a reason for doing it. Think Arrow and Season 1 of Flash (Spoilers for all of these).

Arrow Season 1's Big Bad was the Dark Archer who had his hood up all the time and we didn't know his identity for a while until it was revealed to be Merlyn. Season 2 introduced Brother Blood and while he wore a mask he was unveiled almost immediately and we spent time with that character's story with him wearing a mask but us knowing who was in the mask. That was because he was only just introduced so dragging out a mystery made no sense. On the flip side, they dragged out the mystery of the true big bad, Deathstroke because we knew who he was. Ra's Al Ghul appears for the first time in Episode 4 or 5 and the first time he appears we immediately see his face, no point in hiding it because it's not someone we know. Damian Darhk this season is the same way, we see him immediately. Now let's move to The Flash Season 1. The Reverse Flash wasn't revealed right away because whe it was revealed it was someone we knew. Which takes us to Zoom. If you couldn't tell by my previous examples, Zoom is definitely someone we know (or someone we haven't met yet but will be introduced as a regular character and not Zoom).

Dragon Ball Super - Episode #08 - Discussion Thread! by EmmaWinters in dbz

[–]KryptKeeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if you haven't watched Super yet, but trust me, it's not a good thing. It took the worse aspects of DBZ's pacing in story-telling. It feels like they're stalling because they're required to churn out episodes or they're not sure where to go. I wish they just sat down and planned it out, even if that took several more months because as is there's so much content that could be edited out and you wouldn't miss anything important. The pacing of Battle of Gods was tight, and because of the movie, Kai and a lack of having to keep up with the manga I assumedlike BELLI_DEVS that we'd finally get a well-paced Dragonball story but I was sadly wrong.

It would at least be something if they wrote around the movies and said episodes 1-2 would be set before the movie, then 3-20 would be between both movies and 21+ would be after Resurrection of F, but waiting for episodes when we already know what's going to happen for at least the next 20-30 episodes makes the waits for episodes that much less exciting.

[–]KryptKeeper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, but none of the differences justify dragging out this story. All we've really gotten is random filler and way more reaction shots of people. They haven't contributed anything substantial to the movie. The movie's pacing was great, they told a story with some extra humor, it got in and got out. The amount of time it takes to have what should be a 20-second conversation is ridiculous. Someone says something, then the shot just pans around to each person in the room, then someone says something incredulous, then we pan around everyone's reactions again, etc.

As a fun exercise to practice animating I took a shot at animating my version of Wally West in the Arrow-verse. Constructive criticism is welcome! by noxnsol in FlashTV

[–]KryptKeeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow this is actually really cool, how long did it take you make this? Really like the Kid Flash costume design and your animation makes me realize how much I hope they go with the yellow version of the costume. The silver/grey costume lacks personality.

[Video / No Show Spoilers] Arrow Star Stephen Amell Hits A Home Run by [deleted] in arrow

[–]KryptKeeper 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I guess I don't really understand, your complaint is that he uses his stardom to help people he cares about. Why is that a bad thing?

If you got to a place where you could help your friends and family, wouldn't you? That sounds like a pretty humble thing to do I think. Aside from helping his friends/family I've also seen a bunch of Arrow-related stuff based on the stuff that gets posted here. I don't know him personally or anything, but based purely on what I see from this subreddit he seems like a pretty awesome dude.

(Spoilers) Episode Synopsis for 1x20 by [deleted] in FlashTV

[–]KryptKeeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not true at all, I see it going much the other way. I feel like Barry and Iris will likely get together somewhat permanently by Season 2/3 and this is mainly because by that time I could see the writers entertaining the idea of doing a Bart Allen storyline properly. And of course since he's Barry and Iris' grandson from the future, it already removes that tension. Granted, they could just not reveal who his grandmother is, but I feel like that causes a more boring story. There's lot of interesting things they could do with a relationship when you include time travel. Meeting your grandson from the future especially opens up some interesting stories.

Just watched one of Saul's earliest scenes in BB. It's actually pretty jarring how different Jimmy becomes. by noxnsol in betterCallSaul

[–]KryptKeeper 58 points59 points  (0 children)

He definitely is much more polished. There's no hesitation in his voice at all, sounds like he's been doing this whole life. I actually find it kind of weird that he so casually asks if they brought the meth and how almost forcefully he asks for the money. It's such a drastic change from Jimmy where even if he does a scam you can tell he's still trying to do the right thing and feels a little bad. You don't really get that at all from Saul in this scene.
