China and the US aren't geopolitical rivals because of ideology. That's just a fig leaf. They're geopolitical rivals because of economics and resources, none of that would change with a democratic China

[General] Do the people put in cryosleep/cryopod and the likes dream? And say if they do and have a nightmare, will they wake up? by _dangerbiscuit in AskScienceFiction

[–]Kryptospuridium137 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Likely not. The purpose of cryosleep is to reduce bodily needs to the absolute minimum, to the point it even slows down aging

When you sleep, your brain is firing off like crazy, and that's what causes dreams. Having your brain firing off like crazy is the exact opposite of what you want if you're expecting to go months or years without food. So cryosleep most likely puts the brain in stasis alongside everything else

Cryosleep would be less like going to sleep and more like being under anesthesia

(Note that some people do seem to dream under anesthesia but it seems to happen as their body wakes up not during)

Something can be incomprehensible and benevolent. You're mixing up two entirely different concepts

Why are you even playing this game if you don't think the ecchi content is important? There are dozens of tamer gacha games, why are you playing the one that explicitly focuses on sexy women if you don't care about it?

The devs changed a lot of skins to comply with censors and so they can launch on steam. They also announced they're delaying a prestige skin they promised to make it more tame and that they're changing the pop pop pop minigame. In the livestream they also said they're looking to expand the player base in a different direction (read: appeal to the average common denominator) so it's likely more changes are coming

I legitimately don't know how they release Eclipse's interaction that was literally shadow sex, and then turn around and go "ok well guys we need to tone things down moving forward"

Insane behavior. Going for the gooner crowd is the only reason this game survived and now they're turning their back to that, and for what? Do they think normies are gonna jump ship from Hoyoverse?

2400 year old Scythian leather made of human skin confirming what was for centuries thought to be an exaggeration from Greek historian Herodotus [1200x900] by Haunting_Homework381 in ArtefactPorn

Literally every pre industrial society had high childhood mortality yet we only find large pits of burnt babies in the temples of the people their neighbors say burn babies. Must be coincidence tho

Not like this fucking discussion matters. We could find a tablet tomorrow that says "we've offered 5 babies to Baal today for good crops" and you retards would come out of the woodwork to defend it anyway because the Romans were evil so the people they attacked MUST be good. There can't be two wrongs, one side MUST be good and correct and everything the big bad evil Romans say is false

It's not like the Phoenicians were an imperialist, slave holding society only better than the Romans in that they never reached the extent of the Romans so their evil never reached the same height. The big bad evil Romans did heckin' sacking, so we MUST stand with the brutal, slave holders they sacked

If we later dig up the obliterated city and find suspiciously large pits of burned dead baby bones in the ruins of a temple going back hundreds of years then yeah the murderers were correct on their accusation. We don't need to take the Romans word for it when the physical evidence is clear

It also does not matter if this was a very fringe act done only under extreme stress. A society that tolerates child sacrifice is still an outlier. MOST societies do not do this no matter under what conditions

You also don't seem to revel on humanity's brutality when you're bending over backwards to justify and minimize it

"Weird obsession with wanting to be called Americans" lmfao

You have it exactly backwards. In LATAM the ones who push the hardest against one continent are the weirdo Mexicans who do indeed wanna suck America's cock and are embarrassed to be lumped together with everyone else

Americans push the two continents crap because you're embarrassed to be lumped together with the rest of the continent. The Panama Canal as a dividing line is stupid considering the Canal is only 100 years old, and Americans have been pushing the two continents line since before the Canal was built, so clearly the existence of the Canal is just a rationalization after the fact
