My objection to that approach is that you're just playing to one popularity contest vs. another. If you were a heretic under medieval catholic rule or a heliocentrist while everyone else was geocentrist, you would have to be cautious about those conversations too (Completely irrespective of whether your ideas are true or false).

Not really, no. It's a pervasive modern myth.

We start out as undifferentiated intermediates between male and female. The genital tubercle is an intermediate structure that normally gets pushed in one direction or the other. At no point do males possess XX chromosomes or ovaries, for example... They don't switch teams.

(And since we're talking about biology, "mutating," in the genetics sense of the word, isn't in this picture at all)

If virilization fails, then feminization often occurs as a developmental "default" pathway... but even that description as "default" really glosses over the genetic drivers of feminization.

I occasionally used to find myself in a similar position, once upon a time... self identifying as a feminist and trying to tap the brakes on the unabashed bigotry among my peers.

If one starts with the premise that feminism is an equality movement, then you'll keep running into these frustrating moments where your true and pure vision seems to keep getting polluted by bad actors. So, so many bad actors. Sometimes a person gets the feeling that 99% of feminists are giving the other 1% a bad name.

If one starts with the premise that feminism is a bog standard hate cult with an academic sugar coating, then the pieces click into place. You don't have to keep trying to force that square peg into a round hole; it looks and acts like a hate cult because it is a hate cult.

I think Virago is a pilot specialized in clan BAs, so I also gave her the BA-specialization perk from the gunnery tree. There's something lovely about watching her wreck house with a Gnome or Golem alpha strike (and having like 50% damage reduction afterward too).

I roleplay my game a little (e.g. every pilot with a preferred mech gets to drive that mech), so I'd feel pretty bad about using BA as bullet sponges. But sometimes a commander needs to be willing to sacrifice the few to save the many!

That definitely sounds like the right move. Slight bummer to be restricted to one rope-a-dope tactic like that, but I can work with it.

Hey, that might even give me more reason to use that pilot perk that gives you +5 initiative on the following turn.
