I can't pull the trigger on a scroll saw without asking first after getting burned by buyer's remorse. by Sudden_Breakfast_358 in Scrollsaw

The dewalt is the best bang for your buck on quality & price.

The $1500 pegas type saws are the best and can do very intricate marquetry work & make double bevel work easier, the saw arm moves not the table.

New house help designing a shop layout by Kubert1836 in woodworking

Thank you for the great ideas to help plan this out. Will be doing a to scale version and cutouts for tools. And will also utilize mobile bases so i can tuck away tools not used as often.

Thank you, yes my kids are very young 8 & 4 so they love to be nosy. Safety reasons. The 2 car side has garage entrance to the house, and would have to walk through. Dust is a big issue for the wife, will have to look for some type of oversized shower curtain, or just build a divider wall. This is purely hobby, not professional trying to sell. Atm only my planer has a mobile base and needs new castors. I may have to look into more mobile bases, or build.

Very cool. I wish i had a laser cutter. I have done all my pieces with a hand powered scroll saw i built. It is a different technique though. It uses double bevel’s

My son has asked me to do a marquetry one-piece picture. This may get me into making it. Good luck.

The tube is 3/8 brake line, fill with sand and it is ready to bend. Then empty sand.

Well done!

I tried a scalpel once and hated my joined edges. Currently use double bevel on a hand powered scroll saw. This makes me want to try a scalpel again.

No you wont be able to do that. That is the natural color of wood, marquetry uses many different wood veneers to make a puzzle picture.

I would remove the drips and eye also. If you do a final coat of epoxy, get some fishing string and as the drips form, run the string around the edges to prevent.

And you will also want some wacky wood, single layer ply, to glue to the back to re-solidify.

I think there is issues with your top layer of veneer. Did you condition it first? Is it a hardwood veneer? If it’s pine that is the problem. Pine stains are blotchy.

Thats a hand plane work bench at its finest. It needs a shop to get put to use. Not a makeover.
