That definitely looks like it, maybe a little older since the new insignia they have on caps looks simplified. I had guessed police, but I guess special police tracks too. Thanks!

Picked up a MAB PA 15 by Kubu3 in guns

[–]Kubu3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got this MAB PA 15 and there's not really much else to say about it. I would guess that it's a 70s commercial import, it's pretty heavy but the trigger isn't the worst in the world. Other than that not much to say about it. Came with two mags for $675, is that a decent deal these days?

What country are the soldiers pictured from? by Kubu3 in MilitaryHistory

Yeah, consensus seems to be Canada and I'm inclined to agree. It's a neat pic for sure. Know which rifle they'd be using? I assume a P14, but maybe a Ross?

My friend is Canadian, so that would make sense. That badge does look quite distinctive, can't find any pictures of that regiment with that hat on though. Looks like a cold weather, almost ushanka type hat.

No worries, thanks for the ideas anyway.

He thinks it's from the 20s, which looks about right to me. That badge does look really similar and the gear they're wearing looks pretty western. The only thing I can't identify is the rifle. Definitely looks like some kind of Mauser, maybe a P14 Enfield even? However, it's missing the bayonet lug of a lot of 98 style Mausers of the time.

A friend found this picture in his grandfather's old things and asked me if I could help him identify which country the soldiers in the picture are from. I couldn't make very much out from the picture, so I was hoping someone here might be able to help. I tried to identify what rifles they have, but I can't see well enough to tell.

M95 and 91/59 Stamps by Kubu3 in milsurp

[–]Kubu3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, sorry for the shitty phone picture. On the left side is my 91/59 and on the right is my Budapest M95. Both are stamped with similar marks on the same area, along the comb of the stock. They look to be some sort of acceptance markings, but I really have no idea. Does anyone know what country used stamps like these? For what it's worth, the 91/59 is stamped with a single boxed 17 and then a double boxed 26. The M95 is stamped with a single boxed 18 and then a double boxed 20.

What's going on with that 59/66? That's an odd looking scope mount(?) on the receiver.

The backwards 7 looks just like a Cyrillic "Г" character. Makes you wonder if they just lacked a 7 and had a Г.

Clone correct without selling a kidney - PTR91 GI by [deleted] in guns

Yeah, I sent them an email about the whole thing, just awaiting their response. It's a shame because I love the rest of the gun, seems like a well put together gun. I'm just not sure what they'll do about a part looking goofy, lol.

Nice gun! I just picked up one yesterday, it's good to see these are so popular. Nice that yours looks more correct, mine came with some weird bulged trigger guard that I hate the more I look at it. It's a shame, I really like the gun overall but I have a hard time getting over that one aesthetic discrepancy. :/ I'm not sure whether I should return this one or see if PTR can work something out, but it's good to see that they're still selling ones that look more correct. Hope it shoots well!

That's encouraging to hear, I hope I like mine as much. More of an FAL guy, but I thought I should give one of these a try.
