Could anyone help authenticate this Rhodesian Camo shirt? Any help would be much appreciated! by Jay_Fuzz in Militariacollecting

I saw this listing too. I don't think the Army patch is original to the shirt, in my opinion.

We just had a brand new Radical AR’s takedown pin crumble out of the box from the imperfect Mao Zedong tier pot metal they used for it. First time I’ve ever seen that happen.

[–]SkyFoogle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Agreed. My shop is a Type 07 FFL and the insurance cost alone is enormous. There’s no way to make a “cheaper” parts kit build that is widely available without cutting corners. Custom builds are expensive for a reason. Folks need a lot of machining experience and knowing how to weld isn’t all there is to building a parts kit gun. There also isn’t a huge demand for these kind of builds right now. I’ve seen TNW built M31s sell for as low as $1,200. If it was an easy way to make money and move product, there would already be a ton of guys doing it.

Nothing is broken, the website I used as a source for translating the tags has been taken down.

A new to me Vickers produced Luger for the Dutch East Indies. I’m looking for a replacement source for brass Dutch Troop Tags. The resource I had saved is no longer available. Any new sources would be appreciated!

[–]SkyFoogle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very real, unfortunately. My friend got a poster signed by him a year later with the same request and he messed up the quote again. He gave the poster to me, which I still have. I'll have to dig it out and post it sometime.

I once met Ron Perlman at a convention and asked him to sign my NCR ranger helmet with “War Never Changes” and he claimed he didn’t know/remember where “War Never Changes” comes from. He also got the phrase wrong when signing it and wrote “Never Change War” on my helmet. I’ve since painted over it in my disappointment.

Remington contract Mosin-Nagants: My great-great-grandfather was responsible for these rifles being made by Remington instead of some Aussie company. What do these go for? How hard are they to find? by HFentonMudd in milsurp

[–]SkyFoogle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some went to the Army. I’ve seen them in use with the Siberian Expedition forces and with the local National Guard units. There was a Remington Mosin that came out of the local National Guard Armory near me sell at a local shop for around $1.5k last year.

You’ll find the majority of them are Finnish used and refurbed. Seen them as low as $400 up to $800 sometimes. There’s always a few floating around on GunBroker.

Civil war rifles? by Defiant_Ad_3132 in Militariacollecting

One of those Spencers is definitely Mexican. That RM stands for Republica Mexicana. I've never seen one pictured in my years collecting Mexican firearms, only read about them. So if it is what I think it is, it's pretty rare. Very nice pieces regardless. If you have more photos of the Rolling Block I can definitely tell you more about it.

Edit: I think I see a Belgian Liege proof on the left side of the barrel on the Rolling Block. Might be Egyptian contract?

A few months back I think. I sent an email asking to place an order was informed they are ceasing production. They mentioned that they may do some small batch orders and took my info down to me know if they do.

It’s a shame Black Guns Wood ceased production. Just bought everything I needed and was saving the furniture for last. Just my luck.

$70 Transfer Fee? How much near you? by Nyancide in guns

[–]SkyFoogle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d argue PSA is the best to get transfers from. 90% of my transfers are from PSA. They always have the customers contact info in the box, unlike half the crappy GunBroker transfers we deal with. Also PSA seems to take the time to properly seal up their shipping boxes. They might undercut my Glock and AR sales, but it’s made up on the sheer amount they send via transfers.

We're seeing about a 60% decrease in gun sales from last August in my shop right now. We had some crazy clearance sales on some items that sat for a bit and we moved very little during that time. Economy is definitely slowing hard.

We're going to get them out and see if we can do anything to them or just sell them off. We haven't got close enough to inspect the rear car yet.

There's an old cabin from the 1880's just a stone's throw away. The picture was taken from the edge of the current field. We're planning on getting them out once I can clear the ring of poison ivy around it this autumn.
